💬KEY QUOTE: “Just think about this. Me, as Director of the FBI, the former ‘Russiagate guy,’ when I first got to the bureau, found a room that Comey and others hid from the world in the Hoover Building.” – Kash Patel
🎯IMPACT: The discovery has reignited scrutiny of the FBI’s handling of the Trump–Russia probe and could lead to further revelations about government malfeasance.
Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Kash Patel found “burn bags” filled with sensitive documents, including materials tied to the Trump–Russia investigation, in a secret room at FBI HQ. Such burn bags are typically used to destroy classified or highly sensitive records.
Among the findings was a classified annex to Special Counsel John Durham’s final report on Russiagate, containing underlying intelligence from the investigation. Patel is collaborating with Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Director John Ratcliffe, Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard, Attorney General Pam Bondi, and National Security Agency (NSA) Director William Hartman to declassify this annex, which is slated for transmission to Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA), President pro tempore of the United States Senate and Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, for public release.
Sources disclosed that the annex includes intelligence indicating the FBI contributed to spreading the Trump–Russia collusion narrative prior to its Crossfire Hurricane probe. One source familiar with the annex remarked that the intelligence “predicted the FBI’s next move with alarming specificity,” stating, “It’s really hard to see how [former CIA Director John] Brennan, [former DNI James] Clapper, and [former FBI Director James] Comey are going to be able to explain this away.”
In a June interview with podcast host Joe Rogan, Patel described the room in the Hoover Building, saying, “Me, as Director of the FBI, the former ‘Russiagate guy,’ when I first got to the bureau, found a room that Comey and others hid from the world… full of documents and computer hard drives that no one had ever seen or heard of.”
The documents are under review in response to an investigative request from Senator Grassley, who has been seeking details about Durham’s probe, which determined the Trump-Russia investigation had been baseless and biased but was criticized by America First figures such as then-Representative Matt Gaetz (R-FL) for failing to push for any real consequences.
