A majority of Americans approve of the United States Supreme Court’s decision to overturn the constitutional protections afforded to Roe v Wade in 1973, according to a new survey from Rasmussen Reports.
A total of 52 percent of likely US voters still approve of the Supreme Court’s decision a year after the verdict, with 37 percent “strongly agree[ing]” and a further 15 percent “somewhat agree[ing].” Republicans overwhelmingly approve of the decision at 72 percent. More than one-third of Democrats – 34 percent – also approve.
On the other hand, 44 percent of US voters disapprove, the majority of whom are Democrats at 73 percent, with 57 percent “strongly disapproving.” Only one-quarter of Republicans – 26 percent – disapprove.
How Important Will Abortion Be In 2024?
Rasmussen also asked: “How important will the issue of abortion rights be in the 2024 presidential election?”
Both Democrats and Republicans alike consider abortion to be crucial in the next election, after former President Donald Trump was “able to kill Roe v Wade” and “put the Pro Life movement in a strong negotiating position.”
As a result, a whopping 88 percent of Democrats and 73 percent of Republicans answering “very important” or “somewhat important.” Only 21 percent of Americans answered that abortion will be either “not very important” or “not at all important.”
