Republican presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy has revealed his shortlist of potential Supreme Court justice appointees, including seven conservative judges and senators Ted Cruz and Mike Lee.
The entrepreneur said that while President Joe Biden is focused on “diversity of race and gender” in the courts, his “sole criterion was to select candidates with an unwavering commitment to an originalist understanding of the U.S. Constitution, who also understand the unique threats to liberty in the 21st century (including lurking state action).”
Among the judges on Ramaswamy’s shortlist are:
- John Bush, commended for having “[d]efended workers from vaccine mandates imposed by the administrative state in Kentucky V. Biden”.
- Lawrence Van Dyke, commended for ruling against activists seeking to force the Miss United States of America pageant to include transgender contestants.
- James Ho, commended for paving the way for the reversal of Roe v. Wade and ruling against pandemic church closures.
He also included a list of potential Appellate Court appointees, citing judges with a record of striking down mask mandates, defending religious liberty, and other conservative rulings.
Ramaswamy, a rising star recently interviewed by Raheem Kassam for Pulse+ podcast The Campaign Trail, has come from nowhere to poll as high as third place in the Republican primary, and was the preferred second choice of 51 percent of attendees at the Turning Point Action Conference this past weekend.
