Voters are overwhelmingly indicating they’re concerned about inflation, the economy, and illegal immigration as the 2024 presidential election cycle begins in earnest. A survey by Center Square Voters’ Voice and Noble Predictive Insights indicates voters are most likely to be moved by one of the three issues in the November election. Americans have consistently viewed incumbent President Joe Biden as weaker on all three voter issues compared to his challenger, former President Donald Trump.
A breakdown of the results shows 45 percent of voters saying rising inflation is their most significant concern. The U.S. inflation rate remains above the Federal Reserve’s stated 2 percent target, driving high food, energy, and shelter prices. “Inflation is a high-ranking issue among Democrats and Republicans and True Independents,” David Byler of Noble Predictive Insights said regarding the survey data. He added: “Every political group thinks this matters.”
Illegal immigration was the next most concerning issue for voters at 44 percent. The Biden government’s refusal to crack down on illegal aliens flooding across the southern border continues to garner increased voter attention. Additionally, the busing of illegals to the interior of the U.S. has caused the border crisis to become a vote-moving issue across the country. Texas alone has bused over 102,000 migrants to cities like New York, Chicago, and Denver.
Meanwhile, 24 percent of voters prioritize the economy and jobs. A weakening commercial real estate market, record residential home prices, and surging illegal and legal immigrant numbers in the job market are fueling voter concerns.
Abortion rights, crime and violence, government corruption, climate change, healthcare access, national debt, and national security rounded off the top 10 concerns.
