It’s Not the GREATEST Cabinet of All Time. But It’ll Work For Now.

There’s been no end of kvetching over some of Trump’s cabinet picks for his impending second term. We’ve not been immune to it, either. Marco Rubio will make a particularly poor Secretary of State. Many have written to us about the Surgeon General pick, who peddled mainstream COVID-19 falsehoods, vaccine claims, and mask mandates during those pandemic years.

Some have issues with Pam Bondi, who lobbied as a foreign agent for the likes of Qatar while working for the swampy “bi-partisan” group Ballard. Certainly, Matt Gaetz would have made for a better Attorney General. Certainly, the fight over his Senate approval was worth taking all the way.

Markets have responded well to the nomination of Scott Bessent, a gay financier whose career was made in Soros world. I’ve witnessed both glee and concern over the picks of people like Susie Wiles, Sebastian Gorka, Michael Waltz, Pete Hegseth, Howard Lutnick, Kristi Noem, Brooke Rollins, and more.

On the upside, there are some unifying bangers: Sergio Gor in Presidential Personnel; Steven Cheung as Communications Director; Stephen Miller, Tom Homan, Elon and Vivek, Brendan Carr, Tulsi Gabbard, Bill McGinley, Russ Vought, and of course, RFK Jr.

So in response to the folks jamming up my X and Instagram replies with concerns over individuals at differing departments I say what I’ve said for the past 18 months plus: year one is always the most difficult, and is almost always a sh*tshow. Expect no less this time.

The response I usually receive is, “But we don’t have time for that!”

To which I say, “Tough. That’s how it is. It’s the nature of government, frankly. It’s certainly the nature of politics, no matter where you are in the world. And it’s certainly the nature of Washington, D.C. and the GOP bench.”

Embrace the suck may be too harsh a phrase for the moment. There’s some sucking. There’s also some… blowing? And as the winds of change sweep back into this God-forsaken hellscape of a city, you can be assured that even the wrong-uns taking positions in a second Trump admin will be soon found out and rightly ousted.
