Alliance Defending Freedom recently announced it is suing Miami University of Ohio on behalf of the campus’ Students for Life chapter. Why? Because an administrative official required them to post “trigger warnings” prior to setting up white crosses on campus that represent all the babies aborted in the United States.
Over and over again, we have seen repression of the truth about abortion. A professor at Fresno State University recently recruited students to help destroy pro-life messages chalked by a Students for Life group. Another university claimed “emotional trauma” would be caused by a pro-life organization, the Center for Bio-Ethical Reform, coming to speak on campus. Twitter has been known to use its “anti-hate” policies to censor pro-life opinions.
These instances of repression all point to one simple fact: many people truly do not want to know the truth about abortion.
It is much simpler to support the murder of an unborn child if the details are ambiguous. Popular rhetoric is used to repackage abortion into something more palatable to the masses than the genocide it actually is. After all, “a woman’s right to choose” sounds like a good thing on the surface, and everybody typically agrees that people should have bodily autonomy.
When the popular conversation surrounding abortion has been sanitized into simply a discussion of whether or not a woman should be in control of “her body,” is it any wonder that many flock to rallies in support of “reproductive rights” or that Planned Parenthood receives donation after donation? The truth has been largely removed from the conversation. Therefore, those who reveal the actual facts of the abortion industry become threatening to the foundation on which abortion supporters stand.
In light of this, is it surprising that pro-lifers are continuously censored and shut down?
The abortion industry thrives because of darkness, and therefore, there is only one thing that will bring it crashing down: the light shone by truth. It can be discouraging to be pro-life in a day and age where nobody wants to hear the truth, but it is because people don’t want truth that pro-lifers must keep speaking it.
Have that conversation with a pro-abortion family member about what actually occurs during an abortion procedure. Talk with people in your circles about the actual abortion and organ trafficking facts behind Planned Parenthood. Be willing to start the conversation, no matter the reaction you may receive.
In a world where babies are murdered every single day because people do not know the truth, it is up to us, those who are pro-life, to speak every bit of truth we possibly can. It may be discouraging at times, but we must keep having these conversations — and keep using our platforms — because every single person who hears the truth and becomes pro-life is another person who joins in the effort to finally bring the abortion industry to an end.
Truth is the greatest weapon of the pro-life movement, and it is one that the opposition fears the most. Wield it unswervingly.
