3 Reasons Why 2018’s Most Important Election Will Be in Pennsylvania

This article was originally posted at Townhall. Conservative news sources were shaken up for a few days this summer when several outlets picked up Rolling Stone Magazine’s story on Tim Gill, “Meet the Megadonor Behind the LGBTQ Rights Movement.” The greatest concern was with Gill’s pledge to “punish the wicked” by passing laws in swing and Southern states that criminalize people who believe we are created male and female and that marriage is the union of man and woman. Yet after a brief period of fixation on this quote, the story has retreated into news cycle history. And so, since the circus

Trump Administration Follows Through on Protecting Religious Freedom

Today, the Trump administration announced it would be taking three important, new steps to better protect life and religious liberty: 1.) The administration officially issued a rule which will protect the religious freedom of employers who object to the Obama administration’s “contraception mandate,” finally providing relief to groups such as the Little Sisters of the Poor who had taken their case all the way to the Supreme Court. Importantly, the new rule also expands exemption from the mandate to cover the religious and moral objections of non-profit organizations, for-profit, government contractors, non-government employees, institutions of higher education, individuals, and even insurance

GOP Senators Should Kill This Transgender Amendment or Face Defeat in 2018

This article was posted originally at Townhall. Out of the hundreds of amendments proposed to the National Defense Authorization Act, the defense policy bill on the Senate floor this week, one amendment put forth by Senators Kristin Gillibrand (D) and Susan Collins (R) has stood out in particular. It captured the media’s attention for two reasons: First, these senators have now charged into the quagmire of debate over how to craft policy addressing people who identify as transgender. And second, these senators have cast themselves as brave members of the resistance, linking arms across the aisle to directly oppose mean old

Will the GOP Cave to Democrats Fighting Trump’s Transgender Military Policy?

Coming as a surprise to no one, Democrats in Congress are reportedly preparing to fight President Trump’s recently issued directive regarding transgender individuals in the US military. Their method, according to multiple outlets, will be one or more amendments to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), an important defense spending bill considered must-pass legislation by many in Congress. What is surprising, however, is how many Republicans may be willing to join Democrats in this quixotic effort. CNN reports: Senate Democrats are hopeful they can get enough Republicans on board to pass an amendment blocking Trump’s directive and preliminary talks are

Beyond Bathrooms: Why Transgender Battles Could Soon Impact Every Family

As it becomes clearer every day, Americans are sharply divided on how best to handle questions of children and gender identity. For better or worse, however, American parents are currently allowed (and even encouraged) to raise their kids as the opposite gender, and reports suggest many are doing so. But should these parents have the right to force other parents in their community to raise their own kids to question their biological sex? Should they have the right to impose their own transgender ideology on other families? This is the question at stake in a lawsuit filed last week by

President Trump, Please Defend All of the “Deplorables”

One of President Donald Trump’s most attractive qualities while on the campaign trail was that he didn’t need a translator, like most politicians seem to require. He understood what Americans were most frustrated about, and even since assuming the presidency he’s been able to cut through the fog the media creates on a daily basis. Trump’s unique ability to stand up in the face of serious pressure from the Left is exactly why it’s so important that he does not back down from undoing or mediating the damage that the Obama administration’s 2014 executive orders have caused to religious freedom

Progressive Ideology, Meet Parents. Parents, Meet Federalism.

A significant introduction has been made, but there’s one more that needs to happen. While a new Quinnipac poll is showing that Americans are still evenly divided over whether a person’s biological sex should determine which public bathroom they use, the majority of residents in key swing states—Florida, Ohio, and Pennsylvania—are opposed to the White House’s mandate requiring public schools to allow transgender students into the bathrooms and locker rooms that “correspond to their gender identity.” This mandate, though similar to the executive bureaucracy’s attempt to seize control of education by imposing national Common Core standards and testing, is an even

New Poll: Cruz Emerges as Clear Rival to Trump

Donald Trump hasn’t given up his hold as the GOP favorite yet, but Senators Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio are now nipping at his heels. A new poll released yesterday by YouGov shows Trump leading the pack as the first choice among likely Republican primary voters at 35 percent, followed by Cruz at 19 percent and Rubio at 14 percent.  Yet only 12 percent chose Trump as their second preference while 24 percent named Cruz as their second choice, putting Trump only 4 points ahead of Cruz as the voters’ first or second choice. The most significant aspect of this new poll,
