China’s People Liberation Army reportedly used microwave weapons against Indian forces in a months-long border standoff between the two countries in the Himalayas.

According to The Times, a Beijing-based professor claimed China’s military had deployed microwave weapons to force Indian forces to retreat from “two strategic hilltops” in the Ladakh region.

The comments come from Jin Canrong, a professor of international relations at Renmin University in Beijing. Jin explained that the use of microwave weapons enabled China’s People’s Liberation Army to seize the contested territory without violating its agreement with India that bans use of firearms.

“We didn’t publicise it because we solved the problem beautifully… They [India] didn’t publicise it either because they lost so miserably,” Jin boasted about the August 29th attack.

“In 15 minutes, those occupying the hilltops all began to vomit. They couldn’t stand up, so they fled. This was how we retook the ground,” he added.
