‘Gone For Good’: Chinese State Media Chief Threatens Pompeo With Same Fate As Persecuted Uyghurs

Chen Weihua, China Daily’s European Bureau Chief, threatened U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo with the same fate of groups persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party, promising he “surely won’t be spared.”

Chen functions as a mouthpiece for the Chinese Communist Party, as China Daily is owned and operated by the regime’s own Publicity Department.

A perennial critic of Pompeo and other critics of China including Nigel Farage, Chen replied to a post highlighting how the “Chinese Communist Party’s war on faith targets Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, and Falun Gong devotees alike” from the official U.S. Department of State’s Twitter account.

“The Party spares no one,” the post and accompanying graphic adds.

In response, Chen replied “Pompeo surely won’t be spared. He will be gone for good by Jan 20.”

Chen insisting Pompeo be treated akin to China’s Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, and Falun Gong devotees constitutes a severe threat, as the regime has persecuted members all of the aforementioned groups.

Practitioners of Falun Gong – a meditation-focused religious movement – have been targetted since it represents an ideology counter to complete and utter submission to the CCP. Adherents have been sent to labor camps where they’re “starved, beaten, and tortured with electric batons,” killed in the thousands, and had their organs harvested. Uyghurs have also been subject to an aggressive Chinese Communist Party campaign to indoctrinate, intern, and, in some cases, kill the religious minority.

China’s Christians and Buddhists have met a similar fate.

Chen has used similar language against several U.S. government officials – most recently Senator Marsha Blackburn – and Twitter has repeatedly failed to intervene or comment on the spats.

The social media platform, however, has been heavy-handed in censoring conservatives while attending conferences alongside Chinese military proxies and hiring Chinese Communist Party-linked individuals.
