Charles Finch, a literary critic for establishment media outlets including the New York Times and the Washington Post, posted a fake image of a house, purporting it belonged to Georgia Senator Kelly Loeffler.

Finch, a novelist, shared an image of a luxury mansion to his Twitter account on December 6th, insisting he was “staring in total absorption at Kelly Loeffler’s house.” The $15 million property, however, does not actually belong to Loeffler but rather television host Steve Harvey.

The post, which, at the time of publishing, has been uploaded for less than 24 hours has received over 2,300 retweets and over 7,000 likes. Despite the viral spread of the post, Twitter has failed to place a fact-check label on the tweet containing misinformation.

While Loeffler’s Georgia property is similarly luxurious, she and her husband purchased their home for considerably less: $10.5 million.

Finch’s commentary has appeared in outlets such as the New York Times, Slate, Washington Post and has received awards from the National Book Critics Circle.

Among his New York Times commentary are pieces including “What Tweets and Emojis Did to the Novel” and “Murderous Husbands, Flapper-Era Gun Molls and Korean Assassins: The Best Winter Thrillers.” He’s also penned a host of literary reviews for the Washington Post.
