Loony Left Media: Animals Should Be Considered ‘Legal Persons.’

The left-wing media is now arguing that animals should be considered legal persons and that the “violence” of so-called “ecocide” should be a punishable offense in international law and civil and criminal codes. Writing in the far-left magazine The New Republic, Lydia Millet argues that the Supreme Court’s decision in Citizens United offers the legal precedent to enact such laws.

“Both domestically and internationally, species and ecosystems need to be endowed with legal standing to give local and native stewards the tools to save them from the depredations of industry in the short term and sustain them over the long,” writes Millet. “Accountability for the violence of what some call ‘ecocide’ should be embedded in international law and civil and criminal codes.”

“Luckily, bestowing legal standing on extra-human parties isn’t a fanciful idea,” she writes. “The U.S. Supreme Court did exactly that in the 2010 case known as Citizens United, when it declared that corporations were legal persons—a decision that hobbled American democracy but also set a neat precedent for extending legal personhood to nonhuman entities. And corporations are clearly more abstract and disembodied than animals.”

A GLOBAL MOVEMENT?

Millet also points to the fact that other nations have begun classifying nature and animals as legal persons.

“In New Zealand, a river and a rainforest have been awarded personhood; the people of Ecuador, in 2008, voted to modify their Constitution to recognize the right of nature to exist and flourish; in the United States, the Yurok tribe gave personhood to the Klamath River under tribal law in 2019; and in 2010 Pittsburgh became the first major city to recognize the rights of nature. Those rights have also been enacted into law or invoked by courts in Bolivia, Panama, and India.”

What Millet fails to address is the inevitable implications of declaring animals and natural geographic features legal persons that could have catastrophic effects on human society. Were such blanket measures enacted, hunting, fishing, and farming as we know it might all become illegal. Indeed, current efforts by the Biden regime to “protect” the environment using already available means are predicted to impact energy costs dramatically and will have dire consequences for Americans’ standard of living.

Observers may also note the inherent irony of The New Republic, which appears to publish at least one article per day in favor of the “right” to abortion, arguing that animals are entitled to legal personhood protections while actual baby persons are not.

WATCH: Seinfeld Lashes Out at ‘Extreme Left, PC Crap.’

Stand-up comedian Jerry Seinfeld told the New Yorker Radio Hour that the “extreme left” and political correctness are killing comedy, with too many outside committees and other groups weighing in on comic scripts.

“Nothing really affects comedy. People always need it, they need it so badly,” Seinfeld said. He argued, however, that the public is not getting the comedy they need.

“It used to be you would go home at the end of the day. Most people would go, ‘Oh, Cheers is on.’ ‘Oh, M*A*S*H is on.’ ‘Oh, Mary Tyler Moore is on.’ ‘All in the Family is on.’ You just expected, ‘There’ll be some funny stuff we can watch on TV tonight.’ Well, guess what? Where is it? Where is it?” Seinfeld demanded.

“This is the result of the extreme Left, PC crap, and people worrying so much about offending other people. Now they’re going to see stand-up comics because we are not policed by anyone. The audience polices us. We know when we’re off-track, we know instantly, and we adjust to it instantly. But when you write a script, and it goes into four or five different hands, committees, groups, ‘Here’s our thought about this joke,’ well, that’s the end of your comedy,” he explained.

Seinfeld, whose eponymous sit-com was among the highest-rated shows of all time, has said his upcoming Unfrosted movie will feature a “very funny January 6 parody.”

He also featured in the final season of Seinfeld co-creator Larry David’s Curb Your Enthusiasm, with a storyline based around leftist talking points against Georgia election integrity laws.

Jerry Seinfeld’s New Pop Tart Movie Contains a ‘Very Funny January 6 Parody.’

Comedian Jerry Seinfeld has declared that the film business is no longer the commanding force it once was in our society and culture. In an interview with GQ magazine to discuss his new Pop-Tart movie, “Unfrosted,” Seinfeld expressed admiration for the unwavering dedication of his colleagues but noted a crisis permeating the industry.

Asked what he thinks has replaced film, Seinfeld responds: “Depression? Malaise? I would say confusion. Disorientation replaced the movie business. Everyone I know in show business, every day, is going, What’s going on? How do you do this? What are we supposed to do now?”

Another pull from the interview mentions a “very funny January 6 parody,” which interviewer Brett Martin calls “a little surprising, given how apolitical [Seinfeld has] been.” The scene isn’t in the trailer (below), but will doubtless do the rounds when the movie is released in early May.

But the 69-year-old stand-up and sitcom actor refused to get drawn on the question, instead pivoting to October 7 and antisemitism in America: “Well, I’m Jewish. And you grow up learning about antisemitism, but it’s kind of in a book. It never crossed my mind that people would look at me as anything other than, ‘I like this comedian. I don’t like this comedian.’ I think most Jews of my generation never thought about antisemitism. It was from history books. And then it was something different. It was something different.”

“Unfrosted,” a comedy based on the development of the Pop-Tart and the intensifying rivalry between Kellogg’s and Post during the early ’60s, features Seinfeld alongside Melissa McCarthy. Amy Schumer plays the head of Post. Seinfeld is credited with writing the script, marking his most significant film project since his role in the 2007 animated comedy Bee Movie, where he was a writer, producer, and lead voice.

Biden’s Title IX Changes Mandate Transgender Pronouns in Schools.

Last week, the Biden government announced its latest Title IX regulations, which deliver protections for gender identity, without explicitly mentioning “transgender” terminology. These rules, set to take effect on August 1, will mean all public schools risk legal and fiscal consequences if non-compliant. While not stating so outright, the regulations are viewed as enabling transgender students access to restrooms and changing rooms of their choice and would force schools to use students’ ‘preferred pronouns.’ Biden regime officials appeared to confirm these concerns in a press call with LGBTQ activists.

“These regulations make it crystal clear that no one should have to abandon their educational aspirations due to discrimination, whether it’s based on pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, or other sex-based factors,” Education Secretary Miguel Cardona said.

‘A HOSTILE ENVIRONMENT WOULD BE RECOGNIZED.’

Addressing a direct question about pronoun use, another Biden official confirmed that schools could be penalized for refusing to use transgender pronouns.

“The way that we would analyze that question is to assess whether a student is experiencing a sex-based hostile environment,” the official said. “[I]f the facts meet those standards, which is if, under the totality of the circumstances, sex-based conduct that is subjectively and objectively offensive to a student and to a person in the school community and it rises to the level that it limits or denies access to education, then a hostile environment would be recognized and we would evaluate whether the school had taken sufficient steps to remedy that hostile environment.”

Critics contend these regulations infringe on First Amendment rights by mantheydating recognition of gender identity and could prove to be an issue for the Biden government in court. “There are First Amendment problems with this regulation that the agency repeatedly dismisses without addressing. This will be a problem for the Biden admin in litigation,” wrote lawyer and child advocate Julie Hamill on X (formerly Twitter).

WATCH: Alec Baldwin Appears to Assault Woman Who Asks ‘Why Did You Kill That Lady!?’

Actor Alec Baldwin, who continues to be embroiled in legal hot water over the shooting of Rust movie cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, appeared to lash out physically against a woman who was harassing him in a coffee shop. The video was posted by the account “Crackhead Barney & Friends” with the caption: “White devil Alec Baldwin attacked me… While I was trying to get coffeee [sic].”

In the clip, it appears as though Baldwin himself is the one trying to get coffee, while being forced to endure the shrill demands from a woman.

“One time, one time Alec… come on, Alec. Just say ‘free Palestine’ one time, just one time and I’ll leave you alone,” she says, adding, “Fuck Israel, fuck Zionism,” before Baldwin moves towards her and smacks her phone with his left hand.

Satanic Temple Salem

Man Arrested for Bombing Satanic Temple.

An Oklahoma resident, Sean Patrick Palmer, was arrested and charged Wednesday for an alleged pipe bomb attack against the Massachusetts headquarters of The Satanic Temple.

The 49-year-old is accused of using an explosive to damage the Salem-based building, which also operates as an art gallery. If convicted, Palmer could serve up to 20 years in prison and face a fine of $250,000.

Surveillance footage captured a man approaching the building around 4 AM on April 8, wearing a facial covering, tactical vest, and gloves. He ignited an improvised explosive device before fleeing. Authorities say the bomb partially detonated, causing minor fire damage. DNA was uncovered from a single hair on the partially detonated device.

A six-page note urging repentance was found in a nearby flowerbed. Palmer had allegedly made similar comments on social media. Investigators also noted a black Volvo, registered to Palmer, acting erratically in the vicinity before and after the incident. Records affirmed that Palmer had recently purchased PVC pipe, the suspected bomb material, from a home improvement store in Oklahoma.

In 2023, the Satanic Temple erected an idol of the demon Baphomet in the Iowa State Capitol. Christian veteran Michael Cassidy beheaded the idol, resulting in his arrest. He was charged with a hate crime because the vandalism was motivated by “the victim’s religion,” according to the prosecutors.

Corporate media outlet POLITICO described Satanists as “people of faith” like Jews or Episcopalians earlier the same year, while Cosmopolitan magazine promoted Satanic abortions.

Smithsonian Eliminates Drag Shows Following Investigation.

The Smithsonian Institution has eliminated drag shows from its 2024 programming following an internal investigation. The investigation was reportedly sparked by a question from a Republican Congresswoman last year.

Responding to a question from Rep. Stephanie Bice (R-OK) on how drag events further the Smithsonian’s mission during a House Administration Committee hearing on December 12, 2023, Lonnie Bunch, the Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution, suggested it may not be suitable to expose children to drag shows and pledged to look into the matter.

This reportedly sparked an internal “drag audit,” resulting in the elimination of drag performances from the Smithsonian’s 2024 calendar. Smithsonian staff members who wished to remain anonymous have interpreted this as an act of censorship by Bunch and his team.

The Smithsonian has yet to confirm Bunch’s stance on drag events or their inclusion in their future programming. The prospective cancellation of drag performances in June would be a first during Bunch’s five-year tenure as the Smithsonian’s secretary. The Smithsonian hosted at least eight drag performances during Bunch’s time in office, primarily in connection with New York City and Washington, D.C.’s Pride Week. The most recent was held on June 23, 2023, at the Diker Pavilion, a New York City facility of the National Museum of the American Indian.

One drag performer who was planning an event in collaboration with the Smithsonian before its abrupt cancellation was Wyn Wylie, a far-left, anti-white extremist who performs under the moniker ‘Pattie Gonia.’

Supreme Court Allows Idaho to Suspend Child Sex Changes While Appeals Against State Ban Are Ongoing.

The United States Supreme Court has ruled that Idaho can enforce its ban on sex changes for minors while an appeal is pending. The court’s directive was issued in response to an emergency request from the Gem State.

Two teenage plaintiffs have challenged the law. The Supreme Court ruled they, specifically, are to be exempt from its implementation while their appeals are ongoing, but it can be enforced across the state more generally.

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), representing the plaintiffs, described the ruling as an “awful result for transgender youth and their families across the state,” claiming it “allows the state to shut down the care that thousands of families rely on while sowing further confusion and disruption.”

The Idaho law outlaws mutilating surgeries and the administration of puberty blockers, hormones, and other medical therapies to minors.

The evidence such therapies are an effective treatment for “gender dysphoria” is extremely thin, however, with England among several jurisdictions that have now banned the routing prescription of puberty blockers to children.

Evidence is emerging that such treatments have dangerous and often irreversible side effects, however, and that most gender-confused children grow out of their delusions naturally.

Planned Parenthood Resists Probe Into Transing Kids.

Planned Parenthood in Missouri is stonewalling an investigation into its “treatment” of transgender kids, refusing to comply with a court order to release treatment records.

Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey won a court battle against Planned Parenthood, with St. Louis Circuit Judge Michael Stelzer ruling the abortion provider cannot use Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations to avoid revealing whether it has subjected minors to transgender therapies.

Bailey described the judgment as significant for his investigation into transgender health clinics’ “treatment” of minors in Missouri. However, only the Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City has surrendered documents following legal victories over three clinics. Planned Parenthood Great Plains has appealed to maintain its document privacy, and Planned Parenthood St. Louis, which was ordered to release files, has yet to comply.

Bailey has expressed concerns over Planned Parenthood’s non-compliance and promised continued legal actions to protect children and bring clarity.

“It’s extremely questionable that Planned Parenthood is actively stonewalling our investigations,” he said. “I had to haul them into court in order to get a judge to force them to turn over the documents we’ve requested.”

Judge Stelzer ruled Bailey “is investigating possible dishonesty by [Planned Parenthood] in their medical and billing practices” and affirmed the AG’s “broad investigative powers when the consumer is in possible need of protection.”

Missouri banned the administration of puberty blockers, hormones, and other transgender medical interventions to children in August 2023.

Civil War 2024

DATA: Just 5% of ‘Civil War’ Moviegoers Identify As Conservative.

A24’s latest film, Civil War, debuted with an impressive $25.7M opening, largely supported by Democrat and Liberal moviegoers.

Data collected by Screen Engine/Comscore’s PostTrak revealed that 22 percent of the movie’s audience identified as Liberal and 19 percent identified as Democrats, with Republicans and conservatives representing a smaller demographic. Only six percent of audience members described themselves as Republicans or Evangelical Christians, respectively. Just five percent identified as politically conservative.

The film, which former screenwriter and resident Breitbart film critic John Nolte described as a “ridiculously dopey, anti-Trump snuff film,” depicts the eruption of civil war through the eyes of a photojournalist, played by Kirsten Dunst, after secessionist forces rebel against an authoritarian President who is serving an unconstitutional third term. The President, played by Nick Offerman, is a barely-concealed caricature of former President Donald Trump.

Large, left-leaning markets such as L.A., San Francisco, and Washington, D.C., were strongholds for the film. The film’s release date — just months before the November Presidential election — is widely seen as intentional. “Civil War‘s timing surely isn’t a coincidence, as it hits cinemas amid a contentious election year in which President Biden and former President Trump are once again the leading candidates for their respective parties and Trump seeks to return to the White House,” reported Hollywood Reporter.
