Vance Home Attacker Is a Transgender from a Democrat Family.

PULSE POINTS

âť“WHAT HAPPENED: A suspect identified as William DeFoor, a.k.a. Julia DeFoor, allegedly smashed four windows at Vice President J.D. Vance’s Ohio home.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: DeFoor, Vice President J.D. Vance, Secret Service agents, and Cincinnati Police Department.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Early Monday morning, January 5, 2026, at Vance’s residence in East Walnut Hills, Cincinnati.

đź’¬KEY QUOTE: “I appreciate everyone’s well-wishes about the attack at our home. As far as I can tell, a crazy person tried to break in by hammering the windows.” – J.D. Vance

🎯IMPACT: Damage to the property, a quick response from law enforcement, and the suspect’s arrest. No injuries were reported as the family was not home.

IN FULL

William DeFoor, a male-to-female transgender who goes by Julia DeFoor, was charged early January 5 with multiple offenses, including vandalism, after authorities said he smashed four windows at Vice President J.D. Vance’s Ohio home. The East Walnut Hills property serves as a secondary residence for Vance, his wife Usha, and their three children.

According to law enforcement, Secret Service agents were alerted by a loud noise near the home and detained DeFoor close to the scene. Investigators also allege that DeFoor damaged a Secret Service vehicle while approaching the property.

DeFoor, who previously went by the name Davis before transitioning, grew up in an affluent Cincinnati neighborhood and attended a prestigious private high school. Despite a strong academic record, he did not complete a university degree. Court records indicate that he has prior encounters with law enforcement, including a conviction for vandalism in April.

Public records indicate DeFoor was raised in a politically active household. Both of his parents are medical professionals and registered Democrats; his father has made notable political donations to Democratic campaigns, including those of former Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Joe Biden. Authorities have not disclosed a motive for the alleged attack.

Vice President Vance addressed the incident on social media, thanking law enforcement for their response and downplaying the immediate danger to his family. “I appreciate everyone’s well-wishes about the attack at our home. As far as I can tell, a crazy person tried to break in by hammering the windows,” he wrote.

The case comes amid heightened attention to politically sensitive acts of violence or vandalism involving high-profile officials. In recent years, several high-profile criminal cases have drawn national attention after suspects who identified as transgender were charged in unrelated acts of violence or alleged terrorism, including a foiled assassination plot targeting Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh and a separate case involving an alleged bomb plot against Republican targets.

DeFoor is scheduled to appear on Tuesday in Hamilton County Municipal Court for arraignment. The investigation remains ongoing.

Trump Is Right About D.C.’s Falling Violent Crime Rate.

PULSE POINTS

âť“WHAT HAPPENED: President Donald J. Trump’s claim that there has been a significant decrease in killings in Washington, D.C. is correct and borne out by police data.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: President Trump and the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).

📍WHEN & WHERE: The statement was made on Saturday, January 3, 2026, with data reflecting crime rates in Washington, D.C. in 2025.

💬KEY QUOTE: “We haven’t had a killing in a long period of time, six, seven months,” Trump said. – Donald Trump

🎯IMPACT: The falling crime rates followed President Trump’s issuance of an Executive Order in August that placed the MPD under direct federal control and deployed over 2,000 National Guard troops to the city.

IN FULL

President Donald J. Trump‘s claim that violent crime has drastically plummeted in Washington, D.C.—in large part due to his deployment of National Guard troops to deter criminal behavior and assist the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD)—is borne out by law enforcement data. While the President’s specific assertion that the city hasn’t “had a killing in a long period of time, six, seven months” was not technically correct, Washington, D.C. experienced a significant decrease overall in violent crime in 2025 when compared to 2024.

“I just have to congratulate our military, Pete [Hegseth], and everybody in our National Guard, cause the job that they have done—whether it is in Washington, D.C., where we have a totally safe city, where it was one of the most unsafe cities anywhere in the world, frankly… and now we have no crime in Washington, D.C,” President Trump said during a news conference on Saturday, adding: “We haven’t had a killing in a long period of time, six, seven months. We used to have two, on average two a week in Washington, our capital, we don’t have that anymore.”

MPD data lists five murders in the nation’s capital in December. However, when compared to the prior year, 2025 saw a 29 percent reduction in incidents of violent crime, with the number of homicides falling by an astounding 32 percent.

The falling crime rates followed President Trump’s issuance of an Executive Order in early August of last year, which invoked Section 740 of the D.C. Home Rule Act. This action placed the MPD under direct federal control and directed the deployment of over 2,000 National Guard troops to the city. “We’re going to take our capital back,” Trump vowed at the time. In December of last year, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth authorized the extension of the National Guard deployment in the capital until February 2026.

Currently, there are 2,389 National Guardsmen stationed in Washington, D.C., with 960 from the District itself and 1,427 from Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, and West Virginia.

Maduro Formally Charged With Narco-Terrorism and Drug Trafficking, Pleads ‘Not Guilty.’

PULSE POINTS

❓WHAT HAPPENED: The United States has released an indictment against Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro, alleging a decades-long racketeering and narco-terrorism conspiracy.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Nicolás Maduro Moros, high-ranking Venezuelan officials, and international criminal groups including FARC, ELN, the Sinaloa Cartel, and Los Zetas.

📍WHEN & WHERE: The alleged activities span from 1999 to 2025 and involve Venezuela, Colombia, Mexico, and the United States.

💬KEY QUOTE: “For over 25 years, leaders of Venezuela have abused their positions of public trust and corrupted once-legitimate institutions to import tons of cocaine into the United States.” – Federal indictment

🎯IMPACT: The indictment seeks to hold Maduro and his associates accountable for their alleged roles in facilitating drug trafficking and supporting terrorist organizations.

IN FULL

Venezuela’s Marxist dictator Nicolás Maduro entered a plea of not guilty in federal court on Monday, where he and his wife, Cilia Adela Flores de Maduro, were arraigned on charges of narco-terrorism conspiracy, cocaine importation conspiracy, possession of military-grade weaponry, and conspiracy to possess such weapons. The indictment, filed by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), outlines how Maduro, his wife, and numerous high-ranking Venezuelan government and military officials abused state institutions to further a criminal enterprise called the Cartel de los Soles (Cartel of the Suns), which allegedly trafficked thousands of tons of cocaine and other drugs into the United States.

“For over 25 years, leaders of Venezuela have abused their positions of public trust and corrupted once-legitimate institutions to import tons of cocaine into the United States,” the indictment states. It further accuses Maduro of using his authority to facilitate drug trafficking and corruption for personal and familial gain. In response to the charges, Maduro told the court, “I am not guilty, I am a decent man, I am still the president of my country.”

Before the alleged cartel leader could finish his statement, he was cut off by U.S. District Court Judge Alvin Hellerstein, who subsequently ordered Maduro held until the next hearing scheduled for March 17. The indictment names key co-conspirators, including Diosdado Cabello Rondón, Ramón Rodríguez Chacín, Cilia Adela Flores de Maduro, Nicolás Ernesto Maduro Guerra, and Héctor Guerrero Flores. They are alleged to have played significant roles in facilitating drug shipments and protecting traffickers.

Additionally, the Venezuelan regime is accused of providing a “safe haven” for designated Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTOs) such as FARC and ELN, as well as international cartels like the Sinaloa Cartel and Los Zetas. The indictment details specific instances of corruption, including the use of diplomatic cover to transport cocaine, bribes to protect traffickers, and state-sponsored violence to enforce criminal interests.

Antifa Organizer Who Preyed on 13-Year-Old Found Guilty.

PULSE POINTS

❓WHAT HAPPENED: A former British politician and activist for the Antifa-linked activist group Hope Not Hate has been found guilty of child sex offences.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Liron Woodcock-Velleman, Hope Not Hate, unnamed child victim, and lawyer Ali Hussain.

📍WHEN & WHERE: The offences took place in December 2024. Woodcock-Velleman pleaded guilty in January 2026 and is expected to be sentenced in February.

đź’¬KEY QUOTE: “Show me your bra.” — Hope not Hate activist Woodcock-Velleman to a 13-year-old girl.

🎯IMPACT: The arrest comes amid a crackdown on Antifa groups by the Trump administration in the U.S., including European Antifa groups.

IN FULL

A political organizer for the far-left activist group Hope Not Hate, and former politician for Britain’s governing Labour Party, has pleaded guilty to child sex offences involving a 13-year-old girl. Critics have previously linked Hope Not Hate to militant anti-fascist networks.

Liron Woodcock-Velleman, 30, who contributed reports and lodged formal complaints on behalf of Hope Not Hate, sent nude photographs of himself to the victim and explicit messages, including asking whether she was “at home alone.” In one message, he demanded, “Show me your bra,” and inquired “whether she was a virgin,” the courts were told.

The activist appeared at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court in London, England, on Friday, admitting to attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child and attempting to cause a child aged 13-15 to view sexual imagery. The offences occurred between December 3 and December 10, 2024, and were uncovered by a police sting operation.

Woodcock-Velleman, elected as a Labour councillor for the London Borough of Barnet in 2022, also previously held a senior role in the Jewish Labour Movement, a Labour-affiliated body advising on anti-Semitism. He resigned from his political position in April 2025 without explanation and deleted his social media accounts. Notably, he had campaigned alongside the current British Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, and was described as an “ally” of London Mayor Sadiq Khan, appearing with both at a 2022 local election launch event in Barnet.

President Donald J. Trump has designated the Antifa movement a domestic terrorist organization. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has also named four Antifa-affiliated groups in Europe as Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTOs).

In December 2025, Attorney General Pam Bondi directed federal probes into Antifa for domestic terrorism and tax crimes, prioritising prosecutions and potential revocation of tax-exempt status for linked groups.

Trump Admin Halts Loans to 7,000 Borrowers in Tim Walz’s Minnesota Over Fraud Concerns.

PULSE POINTS

❓WHAT HAPPENED: Nearly 7,000 Minnesota borrowers were suspended by the Small Business Administration (SBA) over suspected pandemic-era loan fraud.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler, citizen journalist Nick Shirley, and Somali-linked networks operating daycare centers in Minnesota.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Minnesota, with actions announced on Thursday, January 1, 2026.

đź’¬KEY QUOTE: “After years, the American people will finally begin to see the criminals who stole from law-abiding taxpayers held accountable, and this is just the first state.” – Kelly Loeffler

🎯IMPACT: 6,900 borrowers were banned from SBA programs, with $400 million in loans under scrutiny, and cases referred to federal law enforcement for potential prosecution.

IN FULL

Small Business Administration Administrator (SBA) Kelly Loeffler said Thursday that 6,900 Minnesota borrowers have been suspended from SBA programs over suspected fraud involving pandemic-era Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) funds. The loans, valued at roughly $400 million, were associated primarily with daycare centers investigators say were tied to Somali-connected networks.

Under the action, the affected borrowers are barred from all current and future SBA lending, including disaster assistance. Loeffler said the agency is escalating enforcement efforts after years of investigations into Covid-era relief abuse. “We will also refer every case, where appropriate, to federal law enforcement for prosecution and repayment,” she said. “After years, the American people will finally begin to see the criminals who stole from law-abiding taxpayers held accountable, and this is just the first state.”

The announcement followed reporting by citizen journalist Nick Shirley, who documented numerous daycare and autism centers that appeared to be empty, minimally staffed, or otherwise inconsistent with the scale of federal funding they received. His findings helped renew public attention on long-running allegations that some facilities were used as fronts to siphon government aid.

Minnesota has faced sustained scrutiny over fraud during and after the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly under programs administered at the state level. Acting U.S. Attorney Joe Thompson has warned that suspected fraud across Minnesota Medicaid and related programs could ultimately exceed $9 billion. The broader scandal first gained national attention with the Feeding Our Future case, in which a nonprofit and dozens of defendants were charged with stealing hundreds of millions of dollars from the Federal Child Nutrition Program.

The latest revelations have intensified political fallout. Minnesota Republicans have called for the resignations of senior state officials, including Democrat Gov. Tim Walz, arguing that weak oversight allowed large-scale fraud to continue unchecked. At the federal level, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer has summoned Minnesota officials to testify about how the alleged schemes operated and why warnings were missed.

Some lawmakers have also focused on the role of Somali-linked networks identified in multiple federal indictments and investigations, prompting heated debate over immigration, enforcement, and accountability. Federal authorities have already secured convictions in several high-profile cases involving pandemic relief and welfare fraud.

Amid mounting concerns, the Department of Health and Human Services has frozen certain federal childcare payments nationwide while reviewing suspected abuse.

Trump’s DHS Arrests 500 Illegals in Minnesota.

PULSE POINTS

❓WHAT HAPPENED: Federal agents have arrested 500 illegal immigrants and investigated 1,000 immigration-fraud cases in Minnesota over the past two months, according to Homeland Security.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Homeland Security, ICE, Somali nationals, and Minnesota officials, including Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Investigations have escalated in Minnesota over the past two months, with updates provided on December 30, 2025.

💬KEY QUOTE: “These suspected perpetrators are really trying to cover their tracks,” said Tricia McLaughlin, Homeland Security assistant secretary.

🎯IMPACT: Federal funding to Minnesota’s childcare program has been cut off, and stricter documentation is now required for daycare providers nationwide.

IN FULL

Federal immigration enforcement agents have already arrested an estimated 500 illegal immigrants and investigated over 1,000 cases of immigration fraud in Minnesota over the past two months, according to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. According to DHS, nearly 100 individuals were also arrested and federally charged over defrauding the government, with most of them being Somali nationals.

McLaughlin revealed that “hundreds” of federal investigators were on the ground in Minnesota over the Christmas and New Year’s holidays, investigating a number of daycare centers, assisted living facilities, and “other organizations that take taxpayer dollars.” She continued, “These suspected perpetrators are really trying to cover their tracks.” The fraudulent businesses, McLaughlin notes, have taken steps to disguise their criminal operations as legitimate enterprises.

The federal immigration crackdown in Minnesota predates the viral video posted by YouTuber Nick Shirley on December 26, claiming to have found over $110 million in alleged childcare fraud. Federal prosecutors earlier in December estimated the total cost of fraud in the state could easily top $9 billion. “The fraud is not small. It isn’t isolated. The magnitude cannot be overstated. What we see in Minnesota is not a handful of bad actors committing crimes. It’s staggering industrial-scale fraud. It’s swamping Minnesota and calling into question everything we know about our state,” First Assistant U.S. Attorney Joe Thompson said at the time.

Despite federal efforts, however, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents have faced resistance from Minnesota state officials, including Governor Tim Walz (D-MN). The state’s sanctuary laws place limitations on cooperation with federal immigration authorities, and Minneapolis recently enacted provisions barring city employees from working with ICE officers. Late last month, ICE Acting Director Todd Lyons slammed the Democrat-enacted sanctuary policies, stating: “If sanctuary cities would change their policies, and turn these violent criminal aliens over to us … instead of releasing them into the public, we would not have to go out to the communities and do this.”

The National Pulse previously reported that state government whistleblowers accuse Gov. Walz of having uncovered evidence of the Somali immigrant community-connected fraud involving the Feeding Our Future nonprofit in 2019. However, they contend the Walz administration backed down from investigating the group after intense pushback from Feeding Our Future’s leaders, who accused state officials of discrimination against Minnesota’s Somali immigrant community.

Scott Bolger Faces 5-Years for Death Threat Text to Kennedy Center Chief Ric Grenell.

PULSE POINTS

❓WHAT HAPPENED: A McLean man is facing federal charges after allegedly sending a death threat to a federal official and attempting to deceive agents upon their arrival.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Scott Allen Bolger, federal law enforcement, and Richard Grenell.

📍WHEN & WHERE: The threat was sent on December 23, and the investigation took place in McLean, Virginia.

💬KEY QUOTE: “Threats of violence are serious crimes with serious consequences,” said Lindsey Halligan, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia.

🎯IMPACT: Bolger faces up to five years in federal prison if convicted.

IN FULL

A 33-year-old Virginia man has been charged with transmitting threats in interstate commerce and making false statements after allegedly sending a graphic death threat to the Trump Kennedy Center President Ric Grenell, a current federal official, and attempting to deceive investigators.

Scott Allen Bolger, who lives in a 740 sq ft apartment in McLean, faces up to five years in federal prison if convicted. According to court records, the investigation began after a threatening text message was sent on December 23 using Google Voice, a service that masks the sender’s phone number.

According to prosecutors, the text read, “Step on U Street and get a bullet put between your eyes, loyalist pig skin pu**y.” The Department of Justice (DOJ) initially did not identify the recipient of the threat, but later reports stated that the message was sent to Grenell, who subsequently confirmed he was the target.

Grenell thanked law enforcement officials involved in the case, including Pam Bondi, Kash Patel, and U.S. Attorney Lindsey Halligan, saying, “I am grateful… for finding this deranged individual and locking him up. His name is Scott Bolger.”

When federal agents arrived at Bolger’s residence in McLean to question him, prosecutors allege he attempted to mislead them by claiming his name was “Brian Black” and denying any knowledge of Scott Bolger. Investigators had already identified him as the suspect before the encounter.

Bolger attended Marshall University in West Virginia and lists his employer as I.T. consultancy “Iben,” run by Beneil (Ben) Khoshabeh, based in San Jose, California.

Trans School Shooter Motivated by Hatred of White People and Religion: FBI.

PULSE POINTS

❓WHAT HAPPENED: Newly released writings reveal the transgender mass shooter who killed six at a Christian school in Nashville, Tennessee, harbored hatred for white people and religion.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: The 28-year-old shooter, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Nashville police, and the victims of The Covenant School attack.

📍WHEN & WHERE: March 27, 2023, at The Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee. Writings were released in December 2025 following a court order.

💬KEY QUOTE: “Predominantly white school (white pple I hate)… Christian school (hate religion).” – The shooter’s notes.

🎯IMPACT: The writings provide insight into the attacker’s motivations, including racial and religious animus, and raise questions about the use of federal aid for weapon purchases.

IN FULL

Newly released Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) documents provide additional insight into the motives and preparations of the 28-year-old transgender who carried out the March 27, 2023, shooting at The Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee, killing six people before being shot dead by police. The materials were disclosed on December 22 following a judge’s order and include approximately 230 pages of journals, notes, and other writings.

In the documents, Audrey Hale, a.k.a. Aiden Hale, expressed explicit hostility toward white people and Christianity. She described The Covenant School as a “predominantly white school (white pple I hate)” and a “Christian school (hate religion).” The writings indicate she considered attacking another middle school but decided against it because it had a higher percentage of black students. In her notes, she wrote “Black people I love” and said she did not want “black people in dispair [sic] + suffering.”

Investigators say the writings show the attack was planned over an extended period. The shooter mapped out targets, tracked dates, and referenced previous mass shooters along with their death tolls.

Financial records and handwritten lists suggest she used federal student aid to help fund the shooting. Her notes list income sources such as “FAFSA grant checks” and money connected to her enrollment at Nossi College of Art and Design in Nashville, followed by entries for firearm and ammunition purchases. Her parents previously told investigators they believed Pell Grant funds were used to buy at least one of the weapons.

On the day of the shooting, the attacker entered The Covenant School, a private Christian elementary school she had previously attended, and killed three children and three adults before being confronted and killed by responding officers.

The Nashville Police Department’s final report, released in April 2024, concluded that the primary motive was a desire for notoriety and argued there was insufficient evidence to classify the attack as driven by ideology, despite the language in the writings. Police also downplayed the role of gender identity, race, and religion in their conclusions.

However, previously leaked journal entries published in 2023 revealed intense personal distress related to gender identity, including anger at being born female and references to an “imaginary penis.”

Ex-Agent Accuses Prosecutors of Burying Minnesota Daycare Fraud Investigation.

PULSE POINTS

❓WHAT HAPPENED: A retired Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agent revealed that a fraud investigation into Minnesota daycare centers, which began in 2015, mysteriously ceased without explanation.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Former HSI agent Jeremy Christenson, Somalis in Minnesota, and a task force of law enforcement and state officials.

📍WHEN & WHERE: The investigation occurred in 2015 in Minnesota, with ongoing fraud allegations resurfacing in 2025.

💬KEY QUOTE: “All of a sudden it just evaporated, just went away into thin air. No idea whatever happened with the case.” – Jeremy Christenson

🎯IMPACT: Federal investigators have intensified investigations into alleged large-scale fraud schemes, with potential immigration consequences for those involved, following an investigation by citizen journalist Nick Shirley.

IN FULL

A retired agent from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Jeremy Christenson, has shared information about a 2015 probe into fraud at daycare centers in Minnesota. He recounted how a team consisting of 20 federal agents and officials from the state Department of Human Services examined claims that Somali migrants were operating sham daycare facilities involving fabricated invoices, nonexistent enrollees, and vacant buildings.

“Never, not one of the daycares I served warrants on, not one person was ever present. Just empty buildings, stacks of invoices, and student records of people that our surveillance showed never went there,” Christenson explained to Minnesota’s Alpha News. After several months of effort, Christenson stated that the Obama-era probe suddenly vanished without explanation. “All of a sudden it just evaporated, just went away into thin air. No idea whatever happened with the case,” he added.

This older case has gained renewed attention in light of a recent fraud controversy in Minnesota, involving accusations that groups of Somalis misused millions in state funds allocated for childcare programs. Citizen journalist Nick Shirley posted a video online depicting multiple daycare centers that appeared inactive despite receiving significant government payments. One facility, the “Quality Learing [sic] Center,” allegedly obtained $4 million in public funds while remaining closed, even though it claimed to be operational.

Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Kash Patel announced that more staff and resources have been assigned to Minnesota to examine these claims. “The FBI believes this is just the tip of a very large iceberg. We will continue to follow the money and protect children, and this investigation very much remains ongoing,” Patel stated on X. He mentioned that certain individuals involved are being forwarded to immigration authorities for possible denaturalization and deportation actions.

Another Illegal Immigrant Trucker Charged After Triple Killing.

PULSE POINTS

❓WHAT HAPPENED: A trucker who allegedly killed three people in a reckless driving incident on Interstate 81 in Virginia is being charged with three counts of involuntary manslaughter.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: El Hadji Karamoko Ouattara, a 58-year-old naturalized citizen who initially immigrated illegally from the Ivory Coast, and six victims, including three who died.

📍WHEN & WHERE: The incident occurred on December 22 on Interstate 81 in Virginia.

đź’¬KEY QUOTE: “We are going to use every resource, every tool that we have at DOT, to make sure that we have the right people on our road that are well qualified, well licensed.” – Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy

🎯IMPACT: The case has reignited concerns about unqualified, illegal immigrant drivers and lax licensing practices in certain states.

IN FULL

El Hadji Karamoko Ouattara, a 58-year-old Maryland resident originally from the Ivory Coast, is facing three counts of involuntary manslaughter following a fatal crash on Interstate 81 in Virginia that killed three people, including a toddler. According to authorities, Ouattara was driving a tractor-trailer that left the roadway and struck a minivan. Six people from the minivan were transported to a nearby hospital. Three later died from their injuries: 65-year-old Lorraine Renee Williams, 49-year-old Ebony Latasha Williams, and 2-year-old Shazziyah Lesley. Three others survived, including a 63-year-old man, a 73-year-old man, and a 10-year-old girl, all of whom sustained injuries.

Ouattara was initially charged with reckless driving, but prosecutors have since upgraded the charges to involuntary manslaughter. The Roanoke County Sheriff’s Office identified him as a resident of Montgomery Village, Maryland. A federal law enforcement source told Fox News that Ouattara entered the United States illegally in the 1990s, later obtained a green card, and eventually became a naturalized U.S. citizen.

The crash has renewed attention on commercial driver licensing standards and enforcement, particularly as they relate to vetting, training, and language proficiency. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy has made trucking safety a central focus of the Department of Transportation, citing concerns about unqualified illegal immigrant drivers operating commercial vehicles.

“We are going to use every resource, every tool that we have at DOT, to make sure that we have the right people on our road that are well qualified, well licensed. That are proficient in the English language to make sure we’re maximizing safety,” Duffy said.

Earlier this month, Duffy announced that California revoked approximately 17,000 non-domiciled commercial driver’s licenses that were issued without proper federal vetting. The DOT has also ordered the closure of roughly 3,000 trucking schools nationwide after investigations found widespread violations of federal training standards, including falsified records and inadequate instruction. Thousands of additional schools have been warned they could lose certification if they fail to comply.

The department has also warned several states that they could lose federal transportation funding for failing to enforce English-language proficiency requirements for commercial drivers. California has already filed a lawsuit against the federal government over withheld funds tied to those rules.
