Democrat Congressman Carjacked in D.C.

Representative Enrique ‘Henry’ Cuellar, a Texas Democrat, was carjacked by three armed men just one mile from the U.S. Capitol in Mayor Muriel Bowser’s D.C., around 9:30 p.m. on Monday.

Cuellar, a supporter of the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act, was approached by the gang while parking outside an apartment building in the Navy Yard neighborhood, which houses dozens of Congressmen. The 68-year-old was also deprived of his cell phone and iPad at gunpoint.

“Luckily, he was not harmed and is working with local law enforcement,” said the Democrat’s chief of staff, Jacob Hochberg.

Other victims of crime in the American capital, where Democrats have total control over the mayor’s office and city council, were less fortunate last night, with the D.C. Police Department posting about two shootings and one stabbing.

Suspect descriptions were conspicuously absent from reports on the Cuellar carjacking by the BBC, CNN, NBC, and other legacy media outlets, but a neighborhood alert confirmed they were “three black males”.

Reporter Shot Dead in Philly Home Defended Soft-on-Crime District Attorney.

Josh Kruger, a progressive activist and reporter who defended the soft-on-crime policies of District Attorney of Philadelphia Larry Krasner, was murdered in his own home Monday morning. Responding to reports of a shooting around 1:30 a.m., police found Kruger, 39, with seven gunshot wounds to his chest and abdomen. He was declared deceased at 2:13 a.m.

Kruger described himself as a “he/him” on his X bio, as well as declaring his HIV positive status. He previously worked for the City of Philadelphia.

In a July essay for The Philadelphia Inquirer, Kruger criticized popular convenience store chain Wawa for citing “safety concerns” as the reason for a series of store closures in the city. The store closures, he argued, were driven by corporate greed and inaction by the Philadelphia police department rather than the Soros-backed District Attorney’s policy of not prosecuting “many low-level crimes like shoplifting.”

Critics on social media pushed back against Kruger, arguing District Attorney Larry Krasner had allowed crime to spiral out of control and ruin the city. Kruger dismissed the criticism in a post on X (formerly Twitter) saying, “…just because Larry Krasner keeps winning in landslides doesn’t mean Philly is a heap of cinders and ashes no matter how much people say. Like the rest of the country we are dealing with upticks in crime.”

Philadelphia has been plagued by petty crime under District Attorney Krasner. The Pennsylvania state legislature attempted to impeach and remove Krasner from office in 2022 but their efforts were blocked by a ruling from the state’s Commonwealth Court. Last week the city suffered two days of riots and looting after a judge dismissed charges against a police officer accused of killing Eddie Irizarry.

IRS Consultant Charged with Leaking Trump’s Tax Returns to Media.

Former IRS consultant Charles Littlejohn, 38, has been charged with disclosing former President Trump’s tax returns to the New York Times, according to federal prosecutors.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) stated that Littlejohn disclosed the tax returns of “thousands of the nation’s wealthiest individuals” to news organizations and shared tax information involving a “high-ranking government official” with another news outlet.

The second news organization was identified as Pro Publica, a nonprofit leftist group based in New York City.

Littlejohn allegedly stole the tax returns between 2018 and 2020, with the returns dating back more than 15 years, as stated in court documents. He has been charged with one count of unauthorized disclosure of tax returns and return information and faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison if convicted. The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration is currently investigating the case.

BLM Activist Convicted of Fraud After $37,000 in Donations Disappear.

A Black Lives Matter (BLM) activist who organized a 2020 riot in which a historic statue was torn down and cast into a harbor has pleaded guilty to fraud, after some £30,000 (~$37,000) in donations disappeared.

Xahra Saleem, formerly Yvonne Maina, co-founded the All Black Lives (ABL) Bristol group in the United Kingdom, and raised money ostensibly to provide masks for BLM protesters and fund a trip to Africa for poor youths via a GoFundMe page called BristBLM. A court heard this week, however, that she “dishonestly abused [her] position intending to make a gain, namely used the funds raised for [herself].”

Saleem, who attended court with her face almost entirely obscured by an Islamic face veil, was also hit with a charge related to a ‘Bristol Protesters Legal Fees’ fundraising page, set up in the wake of a BLM riot in which a statue of Edward Colston, a merchant and parliamentarian once hailed as a great philanthropist, was ripped down over his then-unremarkable ties to the slave trade, considered legitimate in both Europe and Africa when he was born in the 1600s.

Saleem will return to court for sentencing on October 31st.

Diversity Is Our Strength: Justice Dept Confirms Arrest of Migrant Defense Contractor for Espionage.

A contractor for the U.S. government, Abraham Teklu Lemma, has been arrested on espionage charges, the Justice Department announced on Thursday. Lemma, originally from Ethiopia, held a top secret security clearance and had access to classified information through contracting positions with the departments of State and Justice.

Lemma is accused of using an encrypted messaging application to transmit maps, photographs, and satellite imagery to a foreign government. Court documents do not identify the country, but press reports say the migrant is alleged to have spied for Ethiopia. He faces charges of delivering national defense information to aid a foreign government, conspiring to do so, and willful retention of national defense information.

Lemma, a naturalized U.S. citizen and resident of Silver Spring, Maryland, communicated with a foreign official who tasked him with supplying information on specific subjects of interest, including military issues such as command centers and rebel activities.

The State Department learned about Lemma’s actions during an internal security review prompted by the arrest of a Massachusetts Air National Guardsman accused of leaking classified military documents on a social media platform in April.

Mayor of Major U.S. City Flips to Republican Party, Slams Democrat Pro-Crime Policies.

The Democrat Mayor of Dallas, Eric Johnson, is switching political parties according to an opinion editorial he authored in the Wall Street Journal.

“The future of America’s great urban centers depends on the willingness of the nation’s mayors to champion law and order and practice fiscal conservatism. Our cities desperately need the genuine commitment to these principles (as opposed to the inconsistent, poll-driven commitment of many Democrats) that has long been a defining characteristic of the GOP,” Jonson said in announcing his party registration switch from Democrat to Republican.

The popular mayor, who secured nearly 99 percent of the vote earlier this year in the Dallas mayoral election, expressed deep frustration with the Democrat Party’s disinterest in public safety as violent criminals run rampant in America’s major cities: ” Mayors and other local elected officials have failed to make public safety a priority or to exercise fiscal restraint. Most of these local leaders are proud Democrats who view cities as laboratories for liberalism rather than as havens for opportunity and free enterprise.”

The Dallas mayor blasted Democrats he says enact polices that “exacerbate homelessness, coddle criminals and make it harder for ordinary people to make a living.”

Instead of focusing on the needs of urban residents, Johnson argues that members of his former political party are more interested in “virtue signaling” and “finding new ways to thumb their noses at Republicans at the state or federal level.”

Dallas now becomes the only city in America’s top ten largest to have a Republican mayor.

No ‘Special Treatment’ – Hunter Ordered to Appear in Person for Gun Felonies Arraignment.

Hunter Biden has been ordered by U.S. Magistrate Judge Christopher Burke to appear in person at his October 3rd arraignment for three felony gun charges. The court order, issued on Wednesday, states that Joe Biden’s eldest son “should not receive special treatment”. His lawyers had requested a video appearance, citing the financial impact on government resources and the logistical burden of traveling to Delaware.

The request for a virtual appearance was opposed by Special Counsel David Weiss, who argued an in-person hearing is important to maintain public confidence. Weiss said the court has mostly held in-person appearances to treat defendants consistently since the expiration of an order authorizing video teleconferencing due to COVID-19 in June 2022.

Regardless of his mode of appearance, Hunter intends to waive the reading of the indictment and plead not guilty to the charges.

He has been indicted on three felony counts related to the purchase of a firearm in October 2018 while he was a drug abuser. He is alleged to have knowingly made false statements on his firearms purchase form, to have falsely represented himself to the firearms dealer, and to have possessed a firearm despite being an illegal drug abuser.

Biden DOJ Throws Elderly Pro-Life Activists Behind Bars.

A federal grand jury in Washington, D.C. convicted three individuals for “…a felony conspiracy against rights and a FACE Act offense” for protesting an abortion clinic – suspected of providing illegal late-term abortions – in the city. Two two of the defendants, Jean Marshall and Joan Bell are over 70 years old.

The FACE Act is a Clinton-era law prohibiting protestors from physically blocking access to an abortion clinic, crisis pregnancy center, or place of religious worship. Since the Supreme Court handed down its decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization – effectively overturning Roe v. Wade and returning the abortion question to the states – President Joe Biden’s Department of Justice (DOJ) has stepped up FACE Act prosecutions of pro-life protestors, seemingly in revenge.

According to the DOJ, Marshall, Bell, and the third defendant – 41 year old Jonathan Darnel – each face “a maximum of 11 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $350,000.” For Marshall and Bell, the maximum prison sentence would be tantamount to a life sentence in prison for an over-exuberant protest.

In late August, five other pro-life activists were convicted of violating the FACE Act during the same protest. One of the protestors, Lauren Handy, had contacted the Washington Metropolitan Police Department after she removed five aborted fetuses from the clinic’s medical waste. According to Handy, the fetuses showed advanced stages of development indicating the clinic was engaging in late-term abortion – barred by federal law. The Washington D.C. medical examiner’s office said they had no plans to autopsy the fetuses. No charges against the clinic were pursued.

Chicago Floats Govt-Owned Grocery Stores As Crime Drives Retailers Out.

A retail theft epidemic sparked by soft-on-crime policies has driven stores like Walmart and Whole Foods out of Chicago. Now, the city’s radical left-wing mayor, Brandon Johnson, is taking a page out the socialism handbook and exploring the idea of government-owned grocery stores to replace the departing retail giants. According to Johnson, the goal of the city-owned groceries would be to promote “equitable” food access.

Critics say Mayor Johnson is ignoring Attorney Kim Foxx’s soft-on-crime policies as part of the conversation – policies that have drawn sharp criticism from Illinois Republican and Democrat lawmakers, and even Johnson’s predecessor, former-Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot.

Mayor Johnson joined a growing list of Democrat-run localities in exploring lawsuits against auto manufacturers, blaming them for the spike in carjackings and burglaries because their cars are apparently too easy to break into.

When Walmart announced they were departing Chicago’s South and West side neighborhoods, the store pointed to rapidly increasing losses those locations have suffered as crime in the city increased:

“The simplest explanation is that collectively our Chicago stores have not been profitable since we opened the first one nearly 17 years ago – these stores lose tens of millions of dollars a year, and their annual losses nearly doubled in just the last five years”

Johnson’s allies on the city council, meanwhile are pushing drastic cuts to policing, surveillance, and other public safety measures as the they grapple with an over half-a-billion dollar budget gap.
