Mayor Gregoire Junod appeared to side with the rioters, urging a “cultural change” among the police to tackle alleged discrimination. Meanwhile, populist politicians have used the example of the riots to advocate for stricter immigration policies and policing.

These numbers include deportations carried out by ICE, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and the U.S. Coast Guard, as well as self-deportations. From October through December 2024, ICE recorded approximately 71,400 deportations. When including these numbers, ICE is—by itself—on track to potentially surpass 300,000 deportations in fiscal year 2025. This would be the highest number since fiscal year 2014, when around 316,000 deportations were carried out under former President Barack Obama.

Notably, President Trump’s Border Czar, Tom Homan, was executive associate director of enforcement and removal operations at ICE in 2014.

Meanwhile, CBP has recorded over 132,000 deportations this year, along with tracking approximately 17,500 self-deportations. Combined with ICE’s efforts, these numbers bring the total deportations under Trump’s administration to nearly 350,000 since the beginning of his second term.

The current daily rate of ICE arrests—between 1,000 and 2,000—still falls short of the White House’s stated goal of 3,000 daily arrests, although it is around double that of the former Biden government.

Hajec stated, “For Minnesota, it’s not enough to let illegal aliens, who are not permitted to live in the United States at all, into its state schools, and apply lower admission standards to instate illegal aliens than to out-of-state Americans. Even after all that, Minnesota also lets them pay much less in tuition than out-of-state Americans have to pay. That’s where federal law and its supremacy come in, however.”

This lawsuit follows another move by the Trump administration to terminate a Clinton-era policy allowing illegal immigrants to access federally funded career, technical, and adult education programs. Education Secretary Linda McMahon declared, “Postsecondary education programs funded by the federal government should benefit American citizens, not illegal aliens.”

She promised that under the Trump administration, “hardworking American taxpayers will no longer foot the bill for illegal aliens to participate in our career, technical, or adult education programs or activities.”

New Mexico authorities failed to administer the required English‑language test after Singh was pulled over for speeding in July. He reportedly answered only two of 12 questions correctly in an English Language Proficiency test, and misidentified three of four road traffic signs.

From June 25 to August 21, California alone allowed at least 23 drivers with documented violations in English proficiency to continue driving. Similar enforcement failures were identified in Washington and New Mexico.

Should they fail to come into compliance, California faces up to $30 million, Washington about $10 million, and New Mexico $7 million in potential federal funding losses under the Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program.

A growing number of food delivery workers in the D.C. area are illegal immigrants, especially from Venezuela, who often lack work permits, insurance, and vehicle registration. Many of these workers use unregistered mopeds and scooters while waiting for legal asylum or work authorization. Locals have expressed concern about reckless scooter driving.

So far, major food delivery platforms such as Uber Eats, Grubhub, and DoorDash have not commented on the arrests or the broader issue of illegal alien workers on their platforms.

Outlining “Operation Restoring Justice” at a speech in Oxfordshire, England, Farage declared, “Under these new plans, if you come to the UK illegally you will be ineligible for asylum. No ifs, no buts.” He also pushed for a legal requirement forcing Starmer’s Home Secretary, Yvette Cooper—roughly equivalent to the U.S. Homeland Security Secretary—to deport migrants for illegal entry, which is rarely prosecuted at present.

Reform wants a permanent ban on asylum claims for anyone entering the country illegally. Officials from Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer’s Labour Party have dismissed the plans as poorly thought out and lacking depth. Still, Starmer’s own efforts to “smash the gangs” behind people-smuggling have proved farcical, with illegal immigration up significantly and smuggling arrests down rather than up.

“The scourge of illegal migration that we have seen in this country over the last five years is historic and unprecedented,” Farage stressed. Tens of thousands of migrants now cross the English Channel in small boats every year from France—a safe country—with the French authorities doing little to stop them, despite the British government paying them hundreds of millions of pounds to do so. Migrants also continue to enter Britain stowed away in trucks and other vehicles passing through the Channel Tunnel, albeit in lower numbers. Meanwhile, the number of visa-overstay illegals is unknown because the British government stopped releasing them after 2020.

Currently, Reform is polling ahead of Labour and substantially ahead of the notionally right-wing Conservative Party, which governed from 2010 to mid-2024. Reform winning office in 2029—the latest the next British general election can be held—would be seismic, with the country not having had a Prime Minister who was not from Labour or the Conservatives since 1922.

Immigration advocates disagree, with immigration attorney Joseph Tsang complaining, “A DUI could get green card holders deported, even from ten years ago! If it becomes law, anyone who is not a U.S. citizen—be they green card holders, international students, or H-1B workers—could become inadmissible and deportable for having a DUI on record.”

The proposed law would broaden the grounds for inadmissibility to include not only convictions but also admissions to DUI-related conduct. Additionally, it would apply regardless of whether the DUI is considered a misdemeanor or felony under state, federal, or local laws.

The legislation has received support from the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB), which cited U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) data showing more than 43,000 noncitizens were arrested on DUI charges between 2018 and 2023.

The new act comes amid a case of an Indian truck driver who killed three people in Florida this month when trying to make a U-turn on a busy highway. It was later revealed that the Indian was allowed to remain in the United States by the former Biden regime and was granted a commercial driving license by Governor Gavin Newsom‘s California government despite being an illegal alien.
