Tim Walz Is Begging the Public for Money to Fight DOJ Subpoena.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D) is begging the public for money for a legal defense fund after he and other state officials were subpoenaed by the Department of Justice (DOJ) for allegedly conspiring to impede law enforcement.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Tim Walz, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey (D), Attorney General Keith Ellison (D), St. Paul Mayor Kaohly Her (D), and U.S. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Subpoenas were issued recently in Minnesota following a viral fraud investigation.

💬KEY QUOTE: “If you’re with me, please rush a donation to our legal defense fund and help ensure we can keep fighting for accountability, transparency, and justice.” – Tim Walz

🎯IMPACT: The subpoenas have escalated tensions between federal authorities and Minnesota officials amidst ongoing investigations into fraud in the Somali community, and Democrat complicity in facilitating or turning a blind eye to it.

IN FULL

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D) is begging for money for a legal defense fund after being subpoenaed by the Department of Justice (DOJ) as part of a federal investigation into alleged efforts to obstruct law enforcement. The subpoenas, reportedly served by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), also target Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey (D), Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison (D), and St. Paul Mayor Kaohly Her (D), and seek records of official communications.

In a message sent to supporters, Walz claimed the investigation was politically motivated and tied to recent unrest in Minneapolis following the fatal shooting of anti-ICE activist Renee Good by a federal officer when she hit him with her car. “Tim Walz here. Last week, the federal government opened an investigation into me. This comes just weeks after a federal ICE agent fatally shot Renee Good in Minneapolis, unleashing chaos across our city. Rather than taking accountability and working to turn down the temperature, Donald Trump and his administration are fanning the flames by targeting me for demanding transparency and answers.”

Walz went on to accuse the Trump administration of abusing federal power and urged the public to help finance his legal fight. “Weaponizing the justice system and threatening political opponents is a dangerous, authoritarian tactic – and I won’t let it slide. My job is to defend Minnesotans and the rule of law, and I’m sure as hell not backing down. But the road ahead is long, difficult, and expensive. If you’re with me, please rush a donation to our legal defense fund and help ensure we can keep fighting for accountability, transparency, and justice.”

Justice Department officials have suggested that comments and actions by Minnesota leaders may have crossed legal lines. U.S. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said, “When the Governor or the Mayor threaten our officers, when the Mayor suggests that he’s encouraging citizens to call 911 when they see ICE officers, that is very close to a federal crime.”

The investigation also comes after testimony before Congress by independent journalist Nick Shirley, whose reporting on alleged Somali daycare fraud in Minnesota gained widespread attention.

The subpoena controversy adds to mounting scrutiny of Walz over a separate scandal involving alleged fraud in federal COVID-19 relief programs. Whistleblowers have claimed Walz’s administration was aware as early as 2019 of irregularities tied to nonprofits linked to Minnesota’s Somali community but failed to fully investigate and threatened retaliation against state employees who pressed the issue.

Earlier this month, Walz announced he would abandon his bid to seek reelection, a decision widely attributed to the ongoing fallout from the fraud allegations and growing political pressure.

Dem Congressman Admits ICE ‘Serves the Public Interest,’ Begs Leftists to Stop Obstruction.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: Representative Jared Golden (D-ME) issued a statement urging his constituents not to interfere with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations in the state, acknowledging that their presence “serves the public interest.”

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Representative Jared Golden, ICE agents, Maine Governor Janet Mills (D), and Senator Susan Collins (R-ME).

📍WHEN & WHERE: Maine, during the ongoing ICE operation “Catch of the Day,” announced this week by DHS.

💬KEY QUOTE: “Free speech and lawful protest are protected rights, but regardless of how anyone feels about immigration policy or ICE’s tactics, people must not obstruct or impede law enforcement activities.” – Jared Golden

🎯IMPACT: Golden’s stance has drawn criticism from progressive Democrats but praise from constituents in his conservative-leaning district.

IN FULL

Representative Jared Golden (D-ME) is one of the few Democrats around the country urging his constituents not to interfere with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations currently underway in his state. Golden stated that these operations, part of “Operation Catch of the Day” announced by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), “serve the public interest.”

Golden took an unusually firm stance in his statement, emphasizing, “A targeted law enforcement operation focused on individuals who have engaged in criminal activity serves the public interest.” He also reminded constituents that while peaceful protests are a protected right, obstructing law enforcement activities is unacceptable. “Regardless of how anyone feels about immigration policy or ICE’s tactics, people must not obstruct or impede law enforcement activities,” he wrote.

The operation, which has seen increased federal scrutiny of Maine‘s Somali immigrant community, has seen public pushback from other Democrat lawmakers. Governor Janet Mills expressed outrage over ICE’s tactics. Mills stated, “If the Federal government has warrants, then it should show them. But if they are separating working mothers from young children, solely because they sought freedom here and have committed no crime, then the Federal government is only sowing intimidation and fear.”

Meanwhile, Senator Susan Collins (R) also weighed in, stating, “People who are in this country legally should not be targets of ICE investigations. They should be able to continue to go to work, school, and other public places and carry on with their normal lives.”

The National Pulse reported earlier on Friday that Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes (D) had falsely suggested it could be legal for people to use deadly force against masked ICE agents, under Arizona’s “Stand Your Ground” law, if they feel their life is in danger.

Maine is not the only state where government officials are pleading with far-left demonstrators to stop interfering with law enforcement. Late Thursday, Vancouver, Washington Police Chief Troy Price posted a video to X (formerly Twitter), asking the public to stop following, approaching, and harassing his department’s specialty units, including the city’s S.W.A.T. team and Crime Reduction Unit. According to Chief Price, both police units have been mistaken by demonstrators for ICE agents.

U-Haul Distributes ‘Shields and Gear’ to Organized Anti-ICE Agitators.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: Agitators attempting to block immigration enforcement operations at the Whipple Federal Building in Minneapolis, Minnesota, had shields and other gear distributed to them via U-Haul, suggesting a high level of organization.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: ICE officials, protesters, and the Antifa-affiliated group Unicorn Riot.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Friday, at the Whipple Federal Building in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

💬KEY QUOTE: “I will tell you right now, they are going to fail.” – Marcos Charles, Acting Executive Associate Director of ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), said of the agitators’ efforts to disrupt immigration enforcement.

🎯IMPACT: The blockade’s sophistication suggests anti-ICE activities are not spontaneous, and may be tied to nonprofits or other organizing forces.

IN FULL

A senior Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) official said Friday that protesters attempting to disrupt federal immigration enforcement operations at the Whipple Federal Building in Minneapolis, Minnesota, had shields and other gear distributed to them by a U-Haul truck. Speaking at a press conference, Marcos Charles, Acting Executive Associate Director of ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations, said a group arrived at the building equipped to block access and prevent agents from leaving to carry out their duties.

“Moments ago, a group of agitators, a U-Haul van filled with shields… and gear decided to come over here to the Whipple building and block traffic. They are currently trying to impede us from getting out of the building and going to do our mission,” Charles said.

Charles stated that ICE would continue operations despite the obstruction. “I will tell you right now, they are going to fail because no matter what they put up in front of us, we are here to do a job to protect this community, to protect Minnesotans, and to keep the criminal illegal aliens off the street and put them where they belong: back into detention and remove them from this country,” he added.

The Antifa-affiliated media group Unicorn Riot acknowledged the protest activity on social media, describing coordinated demonstrations across the Twin Cities amid extreme cold. “Today is #ICEout day in MN with high temps reaching -11°F & masses are protesting at MSP Airport while hundreds are outside the Whipple Federal Building. On one side, a blockade prevents ICE vehicles from driving thru while ice balls are thrown at vehicles on the other side,” the group posted.

Earlier this month, President Donald J. Trump blamed radical left-wing extremists for a rise in attacks and threats against law enforcement following the shooting of an anti-ICE activist who hit a federal officer with her car.

Department of Homeland Security officials have reported more than 10,000 arrests of illegal aliens in the Minneapolis area, drawing criticism from Minnesota’s Democrat leadership, including Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey. The Department of Justice has recently arrested several activists accused of orchestrating aggressive anti-ICE actions in Minneapolis, including the disruption of church services and federal operations.

Dem AG Suggests People Can Shoot Masked ICE Agents Under Stand-Your-Ground Laws.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes (D) suggested residents could open fire on masked U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents during a recent interview.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes, ICE agents, and Arizona residents.

📍WHEN & WHERE: During a sit-down interview on Tuesday, in Arizona.

💬KEY QUOTE: “I mean, if somebody comes at me wearing a mask, by the way, I’m a gun owner, and I can’t tell whether they’re a police officer, what am I supposed to do?” – Kris Mayes

🎯IMPACT: The comments mark a continued escalation in violent rhetoric by Democrat politicians against federal law enforcement engaging in immigration operations.

IN FULL

Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes (D) has falsely suggested it could be legal for people to use deadly force against masked U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, under Arizona’s “Stand Your Ground” law, if they feel their life is in danger. During an interview on Tuesday, Mayes stated, “You have these masked federal officers… and we have a Stand Your Ground law that says that if you reasonably believe your life is in danger… you can defend yourself with lethal force.”

The Arizona Democrat previously stated, “I don’t believe ICE is a real law enforcement agency.” Her remarks continue a disturbing trend among Democrats who have employed increasingly violent rhetoric against federal immigration enforcement officers. Earlier this month, anti-ICE activist Renee Nicole Good was fatally shot in Minnesota after attempting to run over an ICE agent.

“I mean, if somebody comes at me wearing a mask, by the way, I’m a gun owner, and I can’t tell whether they’re a police officer, what am I supposed to do?” Mayes said, claiming she was “not suggesting people pull out their guns, but this is a ‘Don’t Tread On Me’ state.”

Despite Mayes’s false claim that ICE agents are not “real law enforcement,” it is a congressionally authorized federal law enforcement agency within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and has the full powers of any other federal law enforcement agency.

In addition to her false claim regarding ICE’s law status, Mayes also bizarrely threatened to prosecute ICE agents for infractions under Arizona law, despite the constitutional principle of federal supremacy.

Radical Judge Empowers Leftist Nonprofits to VETO Deportations.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: A federal judge issued one of the most reckless judgments of recent years late Thursday, essentially granting leftist nonprofits final approval authority over Trump administration deportation orders affecting their members.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: U.S. District Court Judge William G. Young, the Trump administration, the American Association of University Professors (AAUP), the Middle East Studies Association (MESA), and foreign nationals slated for deportation.

📍WHEN & WHERE: The ruling was issued on January 22, 2026.

💬KEY QUOTE: “This Court ruled that the Plaintiffs American Association of University Professors (‘AAUP’) and their associate chapters, and the Middle East Studies Association (‘MESA’) have shown by clear and convincing evidence that Secretaries [Kristi] Noem and  [Marco] Rubio have intentionally and in concert implemented Executive Orders in 14161 and 14188 a viewpoint-discriminatory way to chill protected speech that ‘violated the First Amendment.'” — Judge Young

🎯IMPACT: While Judge Young’s ruling is unlikely to stand on appeal, it marks one of the most radical ever rulings against federal immigration law and the executive branch’s ability to enforce it.

IN FULL

A federal judge issued one of the most reckless judgments of recent years late Thursday, essentially granting leftist nonprofits final approval authority over Trump administration deportation orders affecting their members. U.S. District Court Judge William G. Young, 85, ruled that the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) and the Middle East Studies Association (MESA) have continually had their members’ First Amendment rights violated by federal officials by being targeted for deportation over their support of Hamas or similar terrorist groups. Further, as remediation, Judge Young barred the federal government from deporting AAUP and MESA members without the groups’ permission and final approval by a federal judge.

“This Court ruled that the Plaintiffs American Association of University Professors (‘AAUP’) and their associate chapters, and the Middle East Studies Association (‘MESA’) have shown by clear and convincing evidence that Secretaries [Kristi] Noem and [Marco] Rubio have intentionally and in concert implemented Executive Orders in 14161 and 14188 a viewpoint-discriminatory way to chill protected speech that ‘violated the First Amendment,'” the judge wrote.

Young goes on to say, “Any non-citizen member of the plaintiffs AAUP or MESA, who was a member on or after March 25, 2025, and continued as a member through September 30, 2025, shall have a right to institute a proceeding (‘Sanction Action’) in the United States District Court…”

While Judge Young’s ruling is unlikely to stand on appeal, it marks one of the most radical rulings ever against federal immigration law and the executive branch’s ability to enforce it. Not only does Young ignore the jurisdiction of the U.S. Immigration Court system—an error highlighted in a separate case that The National Pulse reported on last week—he makes the drastic move of essentially granting two private nonprofit groups, the AAUP and MESA, veto power over deportation proceedings unless a federal district court judge approves the deportation.

ICE Was Accused of Arresting a 5-Year-Old, Here’s What Really Happened:

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: Vice President J.D. Vance defended immigration enforcement agents after reports surfaced about a five-year-old boy being taken into federal custody with his illegal alien father.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Vice President Vance, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), five-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos, and his father.

📍WHEN & WHERE: The incident occurred Tuesday afternoon in Columbia Heights, with Vance addressing it publicly on Thursday.

💬KEY QUOTE: “I do a little bit more follow-up research, and what I find is that the five-year-old was not arrested, that his dad was an illegal alien, and when they went to arrest his illegal alien father, the father ran… Are they supposed to let a five-year-old child freeze to death?” – J.D. Vance

🎯IMPACT: The incident has raised further questions about the media’s credibility when covering immigration enforcement actions.

IN FULL

Vice President J.D. Vance defended U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on Thursday after a five-year-old boy, Liam Conejo Ramos, was taken into federal custody with his illegal alien father, saying that, contrary to reports, the child “was not arrested” and that agents were enforcing laws while ensuring safety. Vance, who said he was alarmed by the story at first as a parent of young children, explained: “I do a little bit more follow-up research, and what I find is that the five-year-old was not arrested, that his dad was an illegal alien, and when they went to arrest his illegal alien father, the father ran… Are they supposed to let a five-year-old child freeze to death?”

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), in a post on X, defended the agents involved, saying Conejo Arias abandoned his child when approached and that officers took care of the boy for his own safety.

“Our officer[s] made multiple attempts to get the mother inside the house to take custody of her child. Officers even assured her that they would NOT take her into custody. She refused to accept custody of the child. The father told officers he wanted the child to remain with him,” DHS said, adding, “Parents are asked if they want to be removed with their children, or ICE will place the children with a safe person the parent designates. This is consistent with past administrations’ immigration enforcement.”

Local educators and the family’s lawyer had claimed officers removed the child from a running car after school and later took him and his father to a Texas detention facility.

The standoff over ICE comes amid widespread far-left agitation against federal immigration operations. Several hotels in the Minneapolis–St. Paul area reportedly canceled bookings for ICE personnel, alleging “heightened public safety concerns” after protests and threats tied to enforcement actions.

On Capitol Hill, Democratic lawmakers have been attempting to block or restrict funding for the Department of Homeland Security and ICE, with senior Democrats such as Minnesota Governor Tim Walz inflamming the public by comparing immigration enforcement agents to Adolf Hitler’s Gestapo.

Convicted Felon Democrat Moves to Ban ICE Agents From Police Jobs in Her State.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: A Democrat lawmaker introduced a bill to prohibit Washington state law enforcement from hiring people recruited as U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents since January 2025.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: State Rep. Tarra Simmons, a felon and advocate for weaker criminal justice policies, introduced the bill.

📍WHEN & WHERE: The bill was introduced this week in Washington state and would take effect on October 1, 2026, if passed.

💬KEY QUOTE: “This shows the stunning hypocrisy of Democrats. Simmons is a convicted felon who has repeatedly pushed to force people to hire felons or offer them housing. Yet when it comes to law enforcement—hardworking Americans who don’t break the law—they should be shamed and discriminated against? It’s absolutely shameful.” – Radio host Jason Rantz.

🎯IMPACT: Critics argue the bill unfairly targets federal law enforcement, while Simmons defends it as a measure to maintain so-called community trust.

IN FULL

Washington state Rep. Tarra Simmons (D) introduced legislation this week that would prohibit state and local law enforcement agencies from hiring people who previously served as sworn officers with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The proposal, known as the ICE Out Act of 2026 or House Bill 2641, would apply to anyone recruited by ICE after President Donald J. Trump’s return to office in January 2025, and would take effect on October 1, 2026, if enacted.

Simmons, a Democrat and convicted felon who was re-elected in 2024, is a prominent advocate for criminal justice reform—i.e., weaker sanctions for criminals—and has publicly discussed her own past incarceration for drug, firearm, and theft offenses. Announcing the bill, Simmons claimed, “In this Washington, we have worked incredibly hard to build trust between law enforcement and community,” adding, “The last thing we need is infiltration of ICE agents trained during the Trump Administration to send us backwards.”

The press release accompanying the bill accused ICE agents of engaging in “inhumane and violent tactics,” including detaining individuals without cause, breaking into vehicles, accessing state data systems to locate people, and targeting not only illegal immigrants but also visa holders, green-card holders, and U.S. citizens.

Critics have strongly objected to the proposal. Local radio host Jason Rantz said, “This shows the stunning hypocrisy of Democrats. Simmons is a convicted felon who has repeatedly pushed to force people to hire felons or offer them housing. Yet when it comes to law enforcement—hardworking Americans who don’t break the law—they should be shamed and discriminated against? It’s absolutely shameful.”

The legislation comes amid broader Democrat attacks on ICE and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). In recent months, Democrat leaders in Congress have moved to block or restrict funding for ICE as part of negotiations over DHS appropriations, while pushing legislation aimed at eroding the privacy of ICE personnel, drawing warnings from the administration that such measures could expose thousands of agents to doxxing, harassment, and worse.

American Transgender ‘Refugees’ Put in Camp With Migrants.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: The Netherlands is placing American transgenders who are claiming refugee status because of President Donald J. Trump in the country’s infamous Ter Apel refugee camp.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: American transgenders, the Netherlands, Dutch immigration officials, the Ter Apel refugee camp, and U.S. President Donald J. Trump.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Several American transgenders have sought refugee status in the Netherlands since President Trump’s inauguration last year.

💬KEY QUOTE: “My dream is to go to America or the UK. America for me is the paradise. You can work, you can make a million if you have a good idea. Why they come here?” — 21-year-old North African refugee

🎯IMPACT: It is expected that every American transgender claiming refugee status will be denied asylum and deported back to the United States.

IN FULL

The Netherlands is placing American transgenders who are claiming refugee status because of President Donald J. Trump in the country’s infamous Ter Apel refugee camp. While Dutch officials describe the facility as a “permanent reception center,” the facility appears more like a prison—with extensive fencing surrounding the encampment and a heavy guard presence.

Notably, the presence of the American asylum seekers isn’t sitting well with the nearly 2,000 other migrants from around the world housed at Ter Apel. “My dream is to go to America or the UK. America for me is the paradise,” a 21-year-old North African woman living at the camp said in a recent interview. “You can work, you can make a million if you have a good idea. Why they come here?”

Still, several dozen Americans have left the United States since President Trump’s inauguration over a year ago and sought asylum in the Netherlands. Jane-Michelle Arc, a transgender from San Francisco, flew to the Netherlands last April and promptly asked a Dutch customs agent how to seek refugee status. “And they laughed because: what’s this big dumb American doing here asking about asylum? And then they realized I was serious,” Arc said.

The claims being made by the so-called American refugees are bizarre. In Arc’s case, he asserts that President Trump’s United States had become so terrifying and dangerous that he would no longer leave his San Francisco home “unless there was an Uber waiting outside.” However, he would likely face more danger from unchecked crime in the greater Bay Area than the President.

Transgender and LGBTQ refugees are kept in separate housing from the camp’s general population—which includes asylum seekers from places like Syria, Libya, Sudan, and other countries. It is expected that every American claiming refugee status will be denied asylum and deported back to the United States. Over the last several years, only around a couple of dozen U.S. passport holders have received asylum in the Netherlands—all children and all dependents on parents who are of Yemeni, Syrian, or Turkish origin.

Left Media Simps for Criminal Illegal Child Predator.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: A Cuban illegal immigrant pedophile’s death in an El Paso, Texas detention center was ruled a homicide by the medical examiner, with left-wing media outlets including The New York Times and CNN covering him sympathetically.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Geraldo Lunas Campos, a 55-year-old pedophile, and law enforcement officials at Camp East Montana.

📍WHEN & WHERE: The incident occurred on January 3, 2026, at the Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in El Paso, Texas.

💬KEY QUOTE: “The New York Times doing what it does best. Covering for illegal criminal migrants.” – Raheem Kassam, Editor-in-Chief of The National Pulse

🎯IMPACT: Media coverage of Lunas Campos’s death has raised further questions about the priorities of the corporate media, and further undermined its credibility.

IN FULL

Corporate media outlets have provided sympathetic coverage of Geraldo Lunas Campos, a Cuban illegal immigrant pedophile, after his death in an El Paso, Texas detention center was ruled a homicide by the county medical examiner’s office. The autopsy revealed asphyxia due to neck and torso compression, with injuries to his head and neck.

Raheem Kassam, Editor-in-Chief of The National Pulse, criticized media outlets like The New York Times and CNN for their sympathetic coverage of Lunas Campos, despite his extensive criminal record, including sexual contact with a child under 11 and weapon possession.

“The New York Times doing what it does best. Covering for illegal criminal migrants,” Kassam wrote on X in response to the newspaper’s coverage of Lunas Campos’s death, further questioning why “CNN also wants you to care deeply about this poor deceased illegal child sex predator.”

The incident occurred on January 3, 2026, at Camp East Montana, where Lunas Campos became unresponsive while being restrained by law enforcement. Emergency workers attempted resuscitation, but he was declared dead at the scene.

The pedophile’s family, represented by lawyer Will Horowitz, is preparing a wrongful-death lawsuit, citing a witness who claimed guards choked him to death.

DHS Officers Rammed By Illegal Immigrant, Shots Fired.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: A federal agent opened fire in Southern California after a criminal illegal immigrant rammed law enforcement with his vehicle in an attempt to evade arrest.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Department of Homeland Security (DHS) law enforcement officers and William Eduardo Moran Carballo, a criminal illegal immigrant from El Salvador.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Wednesday morning in Compton, California.

💬KEY QUOTE: “Fearing for his life and safety, an agent fired defensive shots.” – DHS spokesman

🎯IMPACT: The suspect was apprehended without harm, but a Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer sustained injuries.

IN FULL

A federal agent fired his weapon during a law enforcement operation in Compton, California, on Wednesday after a suspect used his vehicle to strike officers while attempting to avoid arrest, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The incident occurred during a targeted operation to apprehend William Eduardo Moran Carballo, a Salvadoran national accused of involvement in human smuggling. DHS said Carballo had previously been arrested twice for inflicting corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant and was the subject of a final order of removal issued by an immigration judge in 2019.

“In a dangerous attempt to evade arrest, this criminal illegal alien weaponized his vehicle and rammed law enforcement. Fearing for his life and safety, an agent fired defensive shots,” a DHS spokesman said. Authorities said the suspect was not hit by the gunfire and fled on foot before being taken into custody. A Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer was injured during the encounter, while the suspect was unharmed.

DHS, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), argued that sanctuary policies and ongoing violent anti-ICE protests have emboldened criminals to resist arrest. “These dangerous attempts to evade arrest have surged since sanctuary politicians, including Governor [Gavin] Newsom, have encouraged illegal aliens to evade arrest and provided guides advising illegal aliens how to recognize ICE, block entry, and defy arrest,” the agency said. The agency noted there has been a 3,200 percent increase in vehicle attacks against law enforcement.

The Compton confrontation comes amid a series of recent attacks targeting U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents and other federal officers. In one case, federal authorities offered a $15,000 reward for information leading to the capture of an illegal immigrant accused of ramming ICE agents with a vehicle. In another case, an illegal immigrant received a 20-year federal prison sentence for a violent assault on an ICE officer.

Additional incidents have included a California professor accused of attacking ICE agents with tear gas and a reported 1,000 percent increase in assaults on ICE personnel following a sniper attack, according to federal officials.
