Border Patrol officials near Fronton, TX, were allegedly attacked by cartel members from the Mexican side of the border as illegal immigrants were crossing across the Rio Grande. The Border Patrol agents returned fire, but no one on either side was hit.
Lt. Chris Olivarez of the Texas Department for Public Safety (DPS) told reporter Bill Melugin that DPS was patrolling the area where the shooting took place with vehicles and drones. Members of the Mexican armed forces were also seen operating on the other side of the Rio Grande.
The firefight comes as President Donald J. Trump has heightened security at the southern border and signed an executive order designating the cartels as foreign terrorist organizations, warning of possible U.S. military operations against them in the future. Subsequently, the Trump administration sent 1,500 military servicemen, including members of the Marine Corps, to help secure the border.
President Trump and his administration have also scrapped the CBP Oneapp, which was used by hundreds of thousands of illegals to enter the U.S. under the former Biden-Harris regime.

Asghar Bostan, a convicted groominggang rapist who operated in Rotherham, England, may receive parole despite previously being recalled to prison for breaching his license conditions. Sentenced to a supposed nine-year prison sentence in 2018, Bostan was initially paroled in August 2022 after serving part of his sentence in an open facility. He was returned to custody in 2024 when he was reportedly seen in Rotherham, in close proximity to his victim’s residence.
The victim, “Elizabeth,” has describes the possibility of encountering Bostan as deeply unsettling. Her anxieties are compounded by the fact that Wednesday’s hearing will be her first meeting with her victim liaison officer. Elizabeth voiced her dissatisfaction with the government, stating, “They are no better than the system all of them years ago.”
The Maggie Oliver Foundation is assisting Elizabeth. A former detective known for helping expose the Rochdale grooming gang, Oliver also criticized the authorities’ handling of the situation. “Elizabeth has had to fight relentlessly for years, every single step of the way, as she has sought justice for the horrific abuse she suffered, and rather than recognize her as the victim she is, she is re-traumatized every time she has to engage with the authorities,” Oliver said.
She noted that while Bostan will be supported by his lawyer at the parole hearing, “Elizabeth must stand there all alone, denied even a friend to stand by her side.”
“Even worse, she has been instructed by the staff that she must under no circumstances say anything untoward that may upset him, but must stick to just reading her Victim Impact Statement,” she added.

Selena Gomez, a third-generation Mexican immigrant on her father’s side, has posted a tearful video captioned “I’m sorry [Mexico],” lamenting the fact that her “people” are being “attacked.” President Donald J. Trump is currently overseeing a crackdown on illegal immigration, with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) launching raids principally targeting foreign criminals, including pedophiles.
“I just want to say that I’m so sorry,” Gomez says in the now-deleted video. “All my people are getting attacked. The children. I don’t understand. I’m so sorry; I wish I could do something, but I can’t. I don’t know what to do. I’ll try everything, I promise,” she adds.
Gomez received significant backlash for her statement, with Charlie Kirk of Turning Point USA among those questioning, “‘My people?’ Aren’t you American?” The 32-year-old former Disney actress was born in the U.S.—as were her parents and maternal grandparents. “We’re going to do this operation with no apology. We’re going to make our communities safer. Once we lock that border down and continue this operation, you’re going to see fentanyl deaths decrease, illegal alien crime decrease, sex trafficking decrease,” he continued.

“I just want to note how different things are from where we were when Donald Trump first took office and how much more the American people are on the side of Republicans than they were eight years ago,” CNN data analysis Harry Enten explained during a recent segment. He continued: “You go back to April 2017—look at this—the Democrats held an 11-point advantage over Republicans. So Americans were not liking what Donald Trump and the Republican Party was doing back at the beginning of his first term.”
“Look at where they are now, though. A poll out now, though, just in the last week, after Donald Trump took office, ‘Which party do you trust more on immigration?’ Look at the margin Republicans are putting up here,” Enten notes, adding: “A 22-point lead over Democrats. You rarely see issues in which the American people side so much with one party over the other… Republicans lead overwhelmingly on this.”
Survey data has repeatedly shown the American people souring on the Democratic Party’s embrace of mass immigration under former President Joe Biden. Border security and immigration consistently ranked as two of the top issues for voters during the 2024 presidential election.

Donald J. Trump’s government is implementing unprecedented sanctions against the nation of Colombia after the South American country refused to accept repatriation flights carrying deported criminal migrants.
Trump announced tariffs on all Colombian imports and the closure of the US embassy’s visa section in Colombia. This announcement followed Colombia’s decision to deny the landing of US military aircraft.
In a blistering statement on Truth Social, Trump described Colombia’s refusal as an action jeopardizing US national security. He attributed the decision to Colombia’s socialist President Gustavo Petro, stating that such actions forced the administration to respond.
Effective measures include imposing an immediate 25 percent tariff on all goods from Colombia, which will increase to 50 percent within a week. Additional steps comprise a travel ban and visa revocations for Colombian government officials, enhanced inspections of Colombian nationals and cargo, and financial sanctions under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act.

United States Marines began their deployment to the southern border on Friday, January 24, as part of a 1,500-strong military force aimed at helping secure the border with Mexico under the new Trump administration. The move aims to bolster efforts to halt the flow of migrants attempting to cross the border illegally.
These forces will assist in detecting, monitoring, maintaining, and constructing physical barriers. The Marine Corps units dispatched for this mission hail from Camp Pendleton, California, including a detachment from the 1st Combat Engineer Battalion, 1st Marine Division, and a detachment from the 7th Engineer Support Battalion, 1st Marine Logistics Group.

Marines will be joined by Army personnel from various units based in Texas, Kentucky, New York, Georgia, Kansas, Colorado, and Washington. State and local law enforcement officials will soon be deputized to assist federal immigration agents in ongoing enforcement and deportation operations across the country, according to Trump’s White Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller. The deputations were announced by Miller on Friday, with the addendum that those state and local officials who stand in the way of federal action will be arrested and prosecuted under the law.
“So this is an example of how President Trump is unleashing a vast and broad array of federal statutory authorities to secure the homeland,” Miller said. He continued: “The Secretary of Homeland Security has the authority to deputize both federal law enforcement, as well as state and local law enforcement, and the National Guard to conduct immigration enforcement activities.”
Miller revealed that the Secretary of Homeland Security has already exercised the deputation authority among federal agents to aid a fury of ICE raids coordinated by White House border czar Tom Homan. He noted that local and state law enforcement will soon be deputized as well.
“The Department of Justice (DOJ) is going to aggressively use its authorities to prosecute immigration crime. Child traffickers are going to be going to jail for decades,” Miller said, adding human traffickers and sex traffickers will also spend decades—if not life—in prison. Meanwhile, the Trump White House deputy chief of staff revealed that the DOJ would also prosecute state and local officials who try to interfere with federal immigration actions.
“Local officials who violate our laws are also subject to enforcement,” Miller stated.

Under former President Joe Biden, these individuals were granted parole status through programs like Temporary Protected Status (TPS), the CBP One app, and CHNV (Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela) immigration flights.
Shortly after being inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States on Monday, Trump shut down the CBP One app, turning away all the migrants who registered with the app in an attempt to enter the country. The CHNV flights were also stopped. Meanwhile, acting DHS Secretary Benjamine Huffman signed a memo this week that will allow for the rapid removal of recently arrived illegal immigrants if they fail to meet initial standards or claim asylum.
The new memo is part of President Trump’s much broader plan to secure the southern border, which includes increasing deportation numbers and speeding up the process of deportations overall. Hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants entered the U.S. through the CBP One app or the CHNV Parole Program under the Biden-Harris government. Some, like Haitian national Kenol Baptiste, were later arrested for murder and other serious crimes.
Trump’s border czar, Tom Homan, announced this week that ICE has already arrested 1,300 illegal immigrants across the country. He told the media that many of those arrested were wanted for serious crimes that include murder and the rape of children. Reports suggest that the first deportation flights will be heading to Guatemala. One C-17 military aircraft took off from Biggs Army Air Field, Texas, Friday, while another took off from Tucson, Arizona. Meanwhile, the Trump administration has sent 1,500 troops to the southern border to join the 2,500 already there as part of the new administration’s effort to prevent illegal crossings.

Indian women in the United States are reportedly requesting dangerous pre-term cesarean sections from doctors so they can give birth before President Donald J. Trump’s birthright citizenship ban comes into effect. Most of the women are reportedly in their eighth or ninth month of pregnancy, but several are said to be much earlier in their terms. The new birthright citizenship rules were expected to come into force on February 20, but are now subject to legal action.
Dr S. D. Rama in New Jersey reports he has taken a call from a woman just seven months pregnant to sign up for a C-section before February 20. Dr. S. G. Mukkala, an obstetrician-gynecologist (OBGYN) who has “spoken to 15 to 20 couples” seeking pre-term C-sections, warns they can be very dangerous for both the child and the mother. “Complications include underdeveloped lungs, feeding problems, low birth weight, neurological complications, and more,” Dr. Mukkala said.
President Trump promised to end birthright citizenship during the 2024 election campaign to stop the phenomenon of “birth tourism.” The executive order carrying out this promise will make the children of both illegals and those on temporary work visas ineligible for automatic citizenship, if it survives the courts.
Democrat attorneys general have launched lawsuits to challenge the executive order, claiming it is presidential overreach. “Presidents are powerful, but he is not a king. He cannot rewrite the Constitution with a stroke of the pen,” New Jersey Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin (D) argued.
H-1B VISAS.
Several of those looking to request pre-term C-sections are said to be in the United States on H-1B visas. H-1Bs have been a significant topic of discussion in recent weeks after tech billionaire Elon Musk advocated for the program. Critics argue it undercuts American workers, particularly in the tech sector.
Musk’s Tesla laid off thousands of workers in April of last year only to replace key positions with H-1B workers who worked for a fraction of the cost.
President Trump’s current stance on H-1Bs remains unclear, although during his first run for the presidency, he said the visas harm American workers, calling them “very bad” and “unfair.”
