Far-left politicians have repeatedly used sanctuary city laws in Democrat-run municipalities to shield illegal immigrant sex offenders from being turned over to federal authorities for prosecution and deportation. The National Pulse has documented several instances since President JoeBiden‘s border crisis began shortly after he took office in 2021. Many of these criminals have entered the United States directly as a result of the Biden government’s insistence on not enforcing border security measures.
In March of this year, 26-year-old Haitian national Cory Alvarez was charged in a Massachusetts state court for the rape of a 15-year-old girl in Rockland. Alvarez entered the U.S. under the Biden government’s controversial Cuban, Haitian, Nicaraguan, and Venezuelan (CHNV) parole processes.
An illegal immigrant from Guatemala, accused of multiple incidents of assault and childabuse, was able to avoid several attempts to deport him after gaming Massachusetts’s sanctuary laws to prevent being handed over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The Guatemalan national was arrested multiple times in the Lynn, Massachusetts, area between March 2022 and June 2023. After each arrest, a state court dropped the charges and released the individual before ICE could detain him and begin deportation proceedings.
The scale of the Biden government abuse of U.S. immigration laws to release dangerous individuals into the country — who are subsequently able to dodge deportation despite continuing to commit crimes — has been described as “unprecedented” by a former Clinton government immigration official. Using a 1950s parole law, President Biden had dumped over half a million illegal immigrants without visas into the U.S. by the summer of last year. An additional 168,403 immigrants were granted admission to the U.S. through the CHNV program in 2023 — with the Biden government aiming to increase that number to 360,000 per year.

Donald Trump has described migrant crime as a dangerous “new category of crime.” Last week, Chairman of the House National Security, Border, and Foreign Affairs Subcommittee Rep. Glenn Grothman confirmed that authorities are monitoring at least 617,000 illegal aliens with criminal convictions or pending charges. The National Pulse found this criminal element continued to absorb public resources over the past week, including the examples below.
THE SEX ATTACKING STRANGLER.
On Thursday, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) confirmed the apprehension of a Guatemalan illegal alien, aged 53, arrested for first-degree sexual assault in Hartford, Connecticut.
The illegal turns out to have a long history of victimizing U.S. residents dating back to 2008, having previously been convicted of offenses including second-degree strangulation, domestic assault, and driving while intoxicated.
ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) team in Boston described him as a “serious risk to the community.” He was first issued a deportation order in January 2016 but remained at large for years regardless.
RELEASED REPEATEDLY.
Also on Thursday, ICE confirmed it had finally detained a dangerous Salvadoran illegal who was repeatedly left at large by local authorities in Baltimore in defiance of ICE detainer requests.
He was first arrested for theft in 2015. His criminality dramatically escalated the following year, and he was hit with a vast array of charges: “attempted first-degree murder, con-attempted first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, assault first degree, assault second-degree, firearm use/felony violent crime, handgun on person, possession of firearm minor, conspiracy first-degree murder, con-assault first degree, murder first degree, and accessory after the fact murder 1st.”
ICE issued a detainer request against him, but, as with an alarming number of the subjects featured in The National Pulse’s migrant crime round-ups, local authorities refused to honor it and let him loose among the public again.
He was convicted of “accessory after the fact murder 1st” in 2017 and “dangerous weapon-conceal” in 2019. After an arrest for theft in 2023, ICE once again lodged a detainer request with local authorities, and they once again refused to honor it. ICE did not manage to apprehend him until this month.
“This is exactly the type of dangerous noncitizen offender that we need to keep off of our streets,” said an ICE spokesman. “Unfortunately two of our local jurisdictions refused to honor our requests and released him from custody,” he lamented.
VIOLENT VENEZUELAN.
ICE reported it was able to detain another criminal illegal, Brayan Freites-Macias, in New York. Like the Salvadoran above, Freites-Macias had to be tracked down after local authorities ignored detainer requests and let him loose — despite a history of assaulting New York police officers.
The Venezuelan quickly amassed a string of charges after crossing the southern border illegally in December 2023, including petit larceny, disorderly conduct, criminal trespass, second-degree robbery, and a range of assault charges, some against law enforcement officers.
However, the New York City Department of Corrections at Rikers Island refused to honor a detainer request against him. He was released on April 22. The same day, he acquired another charge for grand larceny and another ICE detainer request, which was also ignored. An ICE Fugitive Operations Team had to apprehend him in New York City themselves.
“Brayan Freites-Macias has displayed a history of violence and represented a threat to the residents of New York City,” said an ICE spokesman. “Any time local jurisdictions refuse to honor ICE detainers, they put the public at risk.”
‘SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN RELEASED.’
Yet another criminal migrant left at large among the public was confirmed to have been apprehended by ICE on Wednesday. The unnamed Ecuadoran was convicted of second-degree assault and indecent assault of a child in Connecticut. Still, local authorities refused to honor an ICE detainer request and released the pedophile in 2022 without telling ICE they had done so.
In January, he was convicted of third-degree assault and violating his probation but was again released without ICE being notified, despite a second detainer request being issued against him. ICE did not manage to detain him until April.
“This convicted sex offender presented a significant threat to the children of our Connecticut communities,” said an ICE spokesman. “This individual should never have been released back on the streets.”
WANTED RAPIST.
ICE also reported it had detained an Ecuadoran wanted for rape on Wednesday. The unnamed 30-year-old entered the U.S. lawfully on August 31, 2022, but was supposed to leave by September 13, 2022, and never did so.
It later transpired he had been wanted for rape in his home country since February 2022. ICE tracked him down in Worcester, Massachusetts, this month.
“Every minute he was walking free represented a threat to the residents of our communities,” said an ICE spokesman.
ANOTHER RELEASED PEDOPHILE.
ICE deportation officers also apprehended a Honduran pedophile, aged 30, in Maryland this month. The agency issued a detainer request against him after he was charged with “felony carnal knowledge of child” aged 13-14 in July 2023, but the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center ignored the detainer and released him on a $10,000 bond later the same month.
He was charged with two additional counts of felony carnal knowledge of a child and two counts of felony indecent liberties with a child in February 2024. He was again released, this time before a detainer request could even be issued. ICE did not track him down until April.
“This Honduran noncitizen stands accused of some very serious crimes and represented a threat to the children of the Washington, D.C. area,” said an ICE spokeswoman.
“When local jurisdictions have policies in place which prohibit them from cooperating with ICE ERO and from honoring our lawfully issued detainers and administrative warrants, they put the suspects, law enforcement officers, and most importantly, the members of our local communities at risk,” she continued.

A majority of Americans — as well as four in 10 Democrats, Latinos, and blacks and over a third of Gen Z — support the mass deportation of illegal aliens, a recent survey conducted by The Harris Poll for Axios revealed. The striking admission by the pro-mass migration Axios lays bare a growing shift in public opinion regarding immigration and indicates widespread support for the strict policies of former President Donald Trump.
The poll revealed that 51 percent of the general public supports mass deportations of illegal aliens. Although Axios did not disclose the poll’s comprehensive data, denying the public insight into the precise extent of support for mass deportations, the results they did publish suggest significant support for mass deportation across every major American demographic.
Among white Americans, support for mass deportations of illegals is at 56 percent. Forty percent of blacks favor mass deportations, as do nearly half of Latinos — 45 percent. The poll also found that 68 percent of Republicans support mass deportations of illegals, as do 46 percent of independents and 42 percent of Democrats.
Significant support for mass deportations of illegal aliens also spans generations. Sixty percent of those in the boomer generation or older support the mass deportation of illegals, as do 53 percent of Gen X and nearly half — 48 percent — of Millennials. Perhaps most surprisingly, over a third — 35 percent — of Gen Z also supports mass deportations.
“I was surprised at the public support for large-scale deportations,” Mark Penn, chairman of The Harris Poll and a former pollster for Bill Clinton, told Axios. Penn said the results are a warning to Joe Biden that “efforts to shift responsibility for the issue to Trump are not going to work.”
In an event in Iowa in September of last year, Trump declared that “a vote for President Trump means Joe Biden’s horror show at the southern border ends at high noon on Inauguration Day, 2025” and vowed to “carry out the largest domestic deportation operation in American History.”

Mass migration is causing a housing crisis while failing to increase wealth per person, according to Robert Jenrick, who resigned as Minister of State for immigration at the end of 2023. Jenrick, who previously served as Secretary of State for Housing, Communities, and Local Government under Boris Johnson, warned the British government has become “hooked” on mass migration — but it is not improving the economy and amounts to a “betrayal to voters.”
A reduction in net legal immigration “from the hundreds of thousands to the tens of thousands” was promised by Jenrick’s Conservative Party ahead of the 2010, 2015, and 2017 elections, and an “overall” reduction was promised ahead of the 2019 election. The Brexit campaign was also fought mainly on an anti-immigration basis. However, the Conservatives increased net immigration from 196,000 in 2009 to 745,000 in 2022, and illegal immigration is also at unprecedented levels.
“[T]he economic model that we’ve become hooked on isn’t working,” Jenrick admitted. “If importing hundreds of thousands of foreign workers to the UK was a route to prosperity, the UK would be one of the richest countries in the world. Instead, for almost the last two years we’ve had a recession in GDP per capita… I care about the prosperity of our own citizens, not the overall size of the economy.”
HOUSING CRISIS.
Jenrick stressed that government “modeling of the benefits of immigration has consistently overlooked the fiscal costs arising from pressure on housing, public services, and welfare.” On housing, in particular, he noted that the country currently would “have to build a house every five minutes, day and night, purely to keep up with the level of net migration to this country” — a feat that is not being accomplished, driving up home prices and rents and causing severe shortages of public housing.
The United States also suffers due to dogmatic beliefs that immigration benefits the economy. In early April, globalist media outlet Semafor argued “[t]he border crisis might be a boon for the economy,” citing an economist who formerly worked at Joe Biden’s White House.
The cost of housing, feeding, and otherwise caring for illegal aliens is costing billions of dollars across multiple states, near and far from the southern border.

Law enforcement in Sumter County, Florida, arrested Ricardo Agustin Lorenzo, an illegalalien hailing from Guatemala, on second-degree murder charges on April 13. Lorenzo is accused of stabbing a man to death at a Days Inn Hotel in Wildwood, Florida.
The suspect is believed to have fatally stabbed Bilder Pablo, also an illegalalien, and subsequently fled the scene. Police arrived on the scene and were able to locate Pablo. He was airlifted to a nearby hospital in Gainesville, Florida, where he died of his injuries.
After a brief manhunt, Ricardo Agustin Lorenzo was seen walking down Interstate 75 but attempted to flee when law enforcement arrived. He was quickly found hiding in a nearby wooded area. Police were able to take the illegalimmigrant and suspected murderer into custody without further incident. At this time, the motivation for the murder is not known.
Lorenzo is currently being held at the Sumter County Jail without the option for bail. In addition, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has placed a detainer request on Lorenzo, meaning they would take custody should he be released on bail or on the orders of a judge.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection has encountered at least 145,000 illegalimmigrants from Guatemala already this fiscal year, according to data from ICE.

Miguel Hernandez-Ruiz, an illegal alien from Mexico, was charged with a first-degree home invasion and two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a person under the age of 13. The alleged assault occurred on March 20 in the Sweet Lake Mobile Home Park, Sturgis, Michigan.
Investigators determined the Mexican had victimized two pre-teen girls. He was captured in early April in Fort Wayne, Indiana, following a manhunt. He initially resisted extradition to the Wolverine State but was ultimately charged in St. Joseph County.
Hernandez-Ruiz entered the United States on an H-2A agricultural visa in August 2021 but became unlawfully present when he remained in the country after its expiration.
The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office says Hernandez-Ruiz is subject to a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainer ahead of a court appearance on April 30.
Local judges and law enforcement frequently ignore such detainers. The National Pulse has described several serious criminals who were able to victimize the public or left at large for an extended period after detainers were not honored in its regular migrant crime round-ups.
These include pedophiles from Brazil, Colombia, and India, who were all left at large for months after ICE detainers were ignored.

A group of illegalimmigrants flown to Martha’s Vinyard by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has received a special visa — and accompanying work permit —reserved for those who have been the victims of a crime. The illegals received a U-visa, which opens a pathway to potential permanent legal status.
Rachel Self, an attorney representing the illegals, says DeSantis duped her clients into boarding chartered flights from Texas. She claims they boarded the planes under the pretense they would receive jobs upon arrival in Massachusetts. Sheriff Javier Salazar from Bexar County, Texas, backed the visa push by Self and her clients. A Democrat, Salazar launched a criminal probe into the flights in late 2022. The sheriff alleges the illegalaliens were “exploited and hoodwinked into making this trip.”
At the time, DeSantis pushed back against Salazar’s accusations that the illegal immigrants were exploited. The Florida Governor’s office insisted the illegals voluntarily agreed to take the flights.
The United States Congress only permits the federal government to issue 10,000 U-visas annually. According to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), the visas are ostensibly granted to the “victims of certain crimes who have suffered mental or physical abuse and are helpful to law enforcement or government officials in the investigation or prosecution of criminal activity.”
No charges have ever been announced through the Bexar County investigation. However, the illegals were granted permission by a federal judge in Boston to bring a lawsuit against Florida-based company Vertol Systems Co., which managed the flights.

Joe Biden is considering granting an executive action that would grant temporary legalstatus and workpermits to illegalaliens in the United States, particularly those married to American citizens. National Democrat leaders, pushing the White House to action, believe the move could help push Hispanic voters to support Biden ahead of November’s presidential election.
Progressive lawmakers on Capitol Hill want Biden to pair the expanded work permits and legal status with any potential executive action to stymie the unchecked flow of illegals at the southern border. They contend that combining the two policy changes could help soften blowback from progressive and pro-open border voters should the Biden government try and enact more restrictive border policies.
Lagging behind former President Donald Trump in 2024 election polls, Biden has signaled — and subsequently backed down — on several occasions that he may use his authority as President to block illegalaliens from entering the United States if the number of crossings reaches a certain threshold. Some Democrats and progressive activists have criticized the Democratic incumbent for even considering the border policy change.
While some Democrats believe granting temporary legal status and work permits to the illegal alien spouses of U.S. citizens will help Biden with Hispanic voters, polling data continues to suggest otherwise. The National Pulse has reported on numerous national polls that show Hispanic voters, by and large, oppose Biden’s current open borders policy.
Additionally, Hispanic voters increasingly say they support the use of the term “illegal immigrant” to describe unauthorized border crossers. Support for mass deportation of illegal aliens — especially those who commit crimes — is also on the rise with Hispanic voters.

West Prep Academy, a New York City middle school with a significant percentage of special needs students, is planning on sending them to an unsafe 127-year-old building to make room for migrant kids. The school, in which 43 percent of students have special needs, and 90 percent are Black or Latino, shares a building with PS 145, which has been inundated with a surge in enrollment of migrant children.
“This building is not equipped to house students with special needs [or] students that don’t have any special needs — it’s not equipped, it’s 127 years old,” said Denise Johnson, a parent of a West Prep Academy sixth-grader. “The issue is we are coming from a building that is substantial, with all [the] equipment to service their students to a building that lacks resources.”
“The issue for me is the building in itself. It’s not up to par for anyone to go into learning — it looks like a jail. And I don’t think that’s something that our Black and Brown kids should be provided by based off of someone else’s decision,” Johnson added.
SMOKE SHOPS AND BUMS.
The new location to which West Prep’s special needs students are to be sent poses significant risks to student safety. It also lacks adequate access to a safe outdoor environment.
“There’s multiple doors on the floors, where the children can open and can wander around there. There are concerns in terms of outdoor space. We know that children that are part of the ASC nests program have mandated outdoor time and services that cannot be provided in that building,” said Kaliris Salas, a member of the DOE’s Panel of Educational Policy [PEP]. “And so in turn, a lot of us on the PEP are very concerned about this particular move.”
The 127-year-old facility also sits in a potentially dangerous neighborhood. “There’s smoke shops everywhere, and there’s also people outside that are bums,” said one parent.
New York City continues to struggle with the massive number of illegal aliens who have flooded the city as a result of the Biden regime’s continued failure to address the border crisis. Unfortunately, schoolchildren are often the ones paying the price. In January, students at James Madison High School were kicked out to make room for 1,900 illegal aliens.

The Washington Post is celebrating that over ten thousand illegalaliens — mainly from Venezuela — now operate much of the U.S. capital‘s food delivery infrastructure in an article published Sunday. The newspaper ignores or de-emphasizes the impact of this cheap illegal labor pool on the economy and public safety.
Focusing primarily on the experiences of the delivery drivers who zip around Washington, D.C., on mopeds, the paper ignores the perverse incentive the cheapillegalalienlabor has on companies like Uber, which have increased their ride-hail and delivery rates four times faster than inflation over the last two years. The increase in fees on consumers and reductions in driver pay have allowed the company to achieve an impressive 72 percent annual revenue growth rate.
The newspaper only gives passing mention of the safety concerns raised by local residents and the fact that almost all of the new drivers from Central and South America lack legal work permits. “As they pursue the months-long process of claiming asylum and applying for work permits, many immigrants have leaned on food delivery to stay afloat financially,” The Washington Post notes, while acknowledging that “some D.C. residents have publicly expressed frustration at what they say is erratic and unsafe behavior on the mopeds.”
Almost all the illegalalien delivery drivers in D.C. lack both driver and health insurance, and without official identifying documents, they also lack vehicle registrations — meaning they’re all operating on the streets in contravention of the law. This burgeoning illegal industry has made transiting the roadways around the nation’s capital more dangerous for residents and delivery drivers alike.
However, lawmakers at the local and national levels appear content to let the illegal delivery sector continue unabated despite its problems. Illegal and legal immigrant labor have helped the Biden government boost national employment numbers — with most of the U.S. labor force recovery driven by immigrants entering the job market. And, despite concerns that the immigrants —predominantly hailing from Venezuela — potentially have ties to the dangerous Tren de Aragua gang, the lure of increased consumption and corporate profits have incentivized Congress and the Biden government to take little action to address the border crisis.
