ICYMI: Trump Commits to Collaborating with a ‘Free, Fair, and Open’ Press.

President-elect Donald J. Trump emphasized the importance of an open media to “Make America Great Again” during an interview on Monday. “In order to Make America Great Again, it is very important, if not vital, to have a free, fair and open media or press,” he said.

The America First leader revealed he met with MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough and his wife Mika Brzezinski—at their request—because he believes he has “an obligation to the American public, and to our country itself, to be open and available to the press,” but warned: “If not treated fairly, however, that will end.”

Scarborough and Brzezinski, for their part, said, “Trump was cheerful, he was upbeat, he seemed interested in finding common ground with Democrats on some of the most divisive issues.” Brzezinski defended their decision to meet with the President-elect, whom they had not seen in seven years, on the grounds that “years of political warfare has deeply divided Washington and the country… Joe and I realized it is time to do something different, and that starts with not only talking about Donald Trump but also talking with him.”

Many on the left disagreed with the decision, however, stressing their past insinuations that Trump would usher in fascism. Former MSNBC host Keith Olbermann went so far as to describe Scarborough as a “political whore.”

Perhaps disappointing supporters who hoped he would take a firmer line against figures in the media and elsewhere who have persecuted him and his followers, the President-elect insisted he was “not looking for retribution, grandstanding or to destroy people who treated me very unfairly, or even badly beyond comprehension.”

“I am always looking to give a second and even third chance,” he said—while insisting he draws the line at a fourth chance.

Don Lemon Is the Latest Leftist to Leave X in a Huff.

Former CNN anchor Don Lemon has deleted his account on Elon Musk’s social media platform X (formerly Twitter), joining an ever-growing number of leftist public figures and organizations fleeing the platform following President-elect Donald J. Trump’s landslide election victory last week. Lemon, now claiming to be an independent journalist, was fired by CNN in April of 2023 over allegations of misogyny, flagging popularity among viewers, and clashes with his colleagues at the network.

Before deleting his account on X entirely, Lemon made a video post and wrote a lengthy letter announcing his decision to leave the Musk-owned social media platform. Lemon claimed that the primary cause of his departure was changes in the Terms of Service, including the requirement that litigation be brought in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas or state courts in Tarrant County, Texas.

“I’ve loved connecting with all of you on X, but it’s time for me to leave the platform,” Lemon wrote in a now-deleted post on Wednesday. He added: “I once believed it was a place for honest debate and discussion, transparency and free speech, but I now feel it does not serve that purpose.”

Numerous users chastised Lemon for the drawn-out departure, replying to both his letter and video with posts suggesting he “just leave already.”

A bevy of leftist celebrities, journalists, and nonprofits have deactivated their X accounts in recent days. The National Pulse reported yesterday that MSNBC host and BlueAnon conspiracy theorist Joy Reid left X, as did author Stephen King.

Joining them in leaving the platform is the anti-Musk nonprofit Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH), a United Kingdom-based nonprofit group that purports to combat online hate and misinformation.

Whoopi Goldberg Just Lied About a Local Bakery REJECTING HER to Gain Political Sympathy.

Hollywood actress and far-left host of The View Whoopi Golberg claims a New York bakery refused to take her order for a birthday cake because of her political views. Goldberg made the claims during the Wednesday episode of The View as she and her co-hosts celebrated her 69th birthday. However, the allegations have proven questionable at best, with the bakery owner publicly refuting them just days later.

“It’s a sponge cake with whipped cream and a cherry on top. I should tell you…the place that made these refused to make them for me,” Goldberg said on Wednesday while she and her co-hosts enjoyed the cake on-air. She added: “They said that their ovens had gone down, but folks went and got them anyway, which is why I’m not telling you who made them. It’s not… because I’m a woman, but perhaps they did not like my politics.”

A BOILER ISSUE.

However, the bakery in question, Holtermann’s of Staten Island, is pushing back against the accusation leveled by The View co-host. Jill Holtermann, the bakery’s current owner, says she informed Goldberg that she could not fulfill the order because of a boiler problem. The owner says she explained that the bakery is in a 130-year-old building and that she could not commit to having the cake done on time since she was unsure how long it would take for repairs.

Holtermann insists her initial denial of Golderber’s order was not because of politics but rather the simple fact she didn’t know whether she would actually be able to bake the cake. She notes that the order was completed after the boiler was quickly repaired.

Goldberg has a long history of making bizarre claims on The View. Recently, she suggested Trump will deport mixed-race couples and admitted she frequently defecates in her pants.

Anti-Trump Editor of Historic Magazine Faces Reckoning.

Laura Helmuth has stepped down from her role as editor-in-chief of Scientific American. The magazine, recognized as the oldest continuously published periodical in the United States since its inception in 1845, announced her departure on Thursday. Helmuth’s exit follows a series of foul-mouthed posts she made online attacking supporters of President-elect Donald J. Trump.

The remarks on X alternative Bluesky, which were later deleted, included attacks on notable Trump allies, such as Vice President-elect J.D. Vance. “As a stepparent, stepchild, half-sib and half-aunt I just cannot WAIT for whoever Kamala Harris’s VP pick is,” she said following Vance’s selection as Trump’s running mate, adding: “Kick J.D. Vance’s bigoted, misogynistic, white supremacist carcass to the f***ing MOON.”

As Trump’s election win was unfolding, she posted, “I apologize to younger voters that my Gen X is so full of f***ing fascists,” adding: “Solidarity to everybody whose meanest, dumbest, most bigoted high-school classmates are celebrating early results because f**k them to the moon and back.”

She also described the State of Indiana as “racist and sexist” and branded vaccine skeptics “f***ing ghouls.”

Helmuth apologized for her posts and described them as an inappropriate reaction to the election results, asserting that her comments did not represent the views of Scientific American or its staff. She claimed to be committed to impartiality and respectful dialogue in media.

Previously, Scientific American stirred controversy with its first presidential endorsement in 2020, supporting Joe Biden, and continued endorsement of Democratic candidates, including Kamala Harris, in September. In addition to this political activism, readers have questioned the magazine’s increasing focus on social issues like race and gender.

Another Win! MSNBC’s Joy Reid Deletes Her X Account Following Trump’s Landslide Victory.

MSNBC host and far-left fabulist Joy Reid has deleted her social media account on tech entrepreneur Elon Musk’s X (formerly Twitter) platform following President-elect Donald J. Trump’s landslide 2024 election victory. Reid is best known for her on-air and live-streamed tirades, often baselessly accusing Americans of racism and peddling far-left conspiracy theories.

Earlier this year, the far-left mainstay at MSNBC emerged as one of the leading BlueAnon conspiracy theorists regarding the attempted assassination of Trump in Bulter, Pennsylvania. In a video posted on social media, Reid—under the auspices of ‘just asking questions’—posits Trump may have been struck by glass and not a bullet.

“We still don’t know for sure whether Donald Trump was hit by a bullet, whether he was hit by glass fragments, whether he was hit by shrapnel—we don’t have those details,” Reid states in her video, going on to falsely claim that the public has no details from Trump’s attending physician at the Butler, Pennsylvania area hospital where he was treated.

The National Pulse reported in March of this year that Reid was dismissing concerns over crime caused by illegal immigrants, accusing the Republican Party of “demagoguing” the murder of 22-year-old Laken Riley. While attempting to criticize the Laken Riley Act, legislation in Congress addressing criminal immigrant detention, the MSNBC host revealed she was oblivious to the fact that local authorities simply release many illegal immigrants arrested for crimes before federal officials can detain them.

Additionally, Reid has appeared utterly ignorant of basic political knowledge at times. In 2020, she insisted the website FiveThirtyEight derived its name from the number of votes by which Al Gore lost Florida to George W. Bush. FiveThirtyEight takes its name from the total number of electors in the Electoral College.

Satire Site The Onion Purchases Alex Jones’s Infowars.

The satirical news site The Onion has secured Alex Jones‘s Infowars in a bankruptcy auction, backed by Sandy Hook families owed over $1 billion by Jones following a crippling defamation lawsuit. Robbie Parker, whose daughter was killed in the tragedy, celebrated the purchase, admitting the destruction of Jones’s business was an underlying goal of the defamation suit: “The dissolution of Alex Jones’ assets and the end of Infowars is the justice we have long awaited and fought for,” he said.

The sale price remains undisclosed, and Jones, in a social media video, has stated he intends to file legal objections. He also claims efforts are being made to shut down his studio presently, without a court order, and that he expects his broadcast on Thursday will be his last.

The Onion has so far declined to comment on its plans for Infowars’ assets, including the website, studio, and video archives.

Jones has said he plans to move his broadcasts to new platforms if necessary and that preparations have already been made.

Court Dismisses News Outlets’ Lawsuit Against OpenAI.

A federal judge in New York has dismissed a lawsuit by news outlets Raw Story and AlterNet against OpenAI. The media organizations accused the company of misusing their copyrighted material to train its AI language model, ChatGPT. Last week, U.S. District Judge Colleen McMahon granted OpenAI’s request to dismiss the lawsuit entirely, citing the plaintiffs’ failure to establish a tangible injury under Article 3 of the U.S. Constitution, necessary for legal standing.

Judge McMahon stated the plaintiffs did not demonstrate any actual harm from the alleged violation of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). She noted that they failed to provide specific instances of ChatGPT reproducing their content without acknowledgment, labeling the likelihood of such occurrences as “remote.”

The case, initiated by Raw Story Media, the parent company of Raw Story and AlterNet, alleged OpenAI contravened Section 1202(b)(1) of the DMCA. The complaint claimed the AI company removed copyright management details from numerous articles during the ChatGPT training process. Raw Story sought damages of at least $2,500 per violation and demanded the removal of their content from OpenAI’s datasets.

The judge pointed out that the plaintiffs’ grievance seemed to revolve around their articles being used without compensation rather than the lack of proper attribution. Despite the ruling, Raw Story and AlterNet can replead their case, although the judge was skeptical about their prospects of proving concrete injury.

OpenAI asserted its use of publicly accessible data is protected under fair use rules. The dismissal may influence similar cases, as OpenAI and other AI firms face numerous lawsuits over the data utilized in training generative AI systems. These include actions from prominent publishers like The New York Times, alleging unauthorized use of articles for AI development.

The Guardian Rage Quits ‘Toxic’ X After Trump’s Election Win.

The Guardian has decided to cease posting on Elon Musk‘s social media platform X, previously known as Twitter. The British newspaper group, which endorsed Kamala Harris in her failed bid for the U.S. presidency, complains, “The U.S. presidential election campaign served only to underline what we have considered for a long time: that X is a toxic media platform and that its owner, Elon Musk, has been able to use its influence to shape political discourse.”

The Guardian claims it has been considering exiting the platform “for a while given the often disturbing content promoted or found on the platform, including far-right conspiracy theories and racism.” However, The Guardian itself boasts close to 11 million followers on the platform, and leftist politicians such as Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) also own large followings and regularly receive tens of thousands of likes for their posts—suggesting X is not biased against the left, it simply declines to censor users who lean right at scale.

The Guardian concedes that it will continue embedding X posts in its news coverage and that its journalists will still use the platform for news-gathering.

In a report covering its own exit announcement, The Guardian complains that users banned by X’s previous ownership, including Alex Jones, Andrew Tate, and Tommy Robinson, have been allowed back on the platform.

Other social media platforms are gaining new users from leftists’ post-election abandonment of X. Meta’s Threads is experiencing growth, while Bluesky, founded by former Twitter head Jack Dorsey, saw a surge in downloads recently. Both are far more censorious than X.

Olivia Nuzzi’s World is Still Collapsing, FYI.

Disgraced journalist Olivia Nuzzi’s career continues into a tailspin after it emerged she attempted to seduce Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. through suggestive and erotic text messages. The former New York Magazine scribe has withdrawn a protective order against her ex-fiance, Ryan Lizza, who alleges her claims against him were motivated as part of a public relations campaign.

“Olivia shamelessly used litigation with false allegations as a public relations strategy. When required to do so, she refused to defend her claims in court last month,” Lizza wrote in a statement on Tuesday. “She then sought to hide my response to her claims from the public by seeking to seal the proceedings that she began. Now, on the eve of a hearing at which she knew her lies would be exposed, she has taken the only course available to her and withdrawn her fabricated claims,” he continued.

“Olivia lied to me for almost a year. She lied to her editors. She lied to her readers,” Nuzzi’s ex-finance claims. He added: “She lied to her colleagues. She lied to reporters. And she lied to the judge in this case… I’m pleased this matter is closed.”

Nuzzi has sought to frame her attempt at engaging in an affair with Kennedy Jr. as a professional hit job against her. Consequently, she insinuated that Lizza leaked her communications with the former independent presidential candidate with malicious intent. However, she has produced no evidence to support the allegations.

Meanwhile, addressing the decision to withdraw the protective order, a statement from Nuzzi’s attorney reads: “Ms. Nuzzi has no interest in fighting a public relations battle. For insight into her decision, you can refer to the statements in her motion.”

CNN to Lay Off Top ‘Talent’ Amid Massive Ratings Plunge.

Several top CNN personalities may soon be without work as the broadcaster considers firing hundreds of workers amid dismal election ratings. Several key network personalities, including Wolf Blitzer and Jake Tapper, have been refused raises, as new rounds of firings are expected to occur in the coming weeks and months.

The firings are claimed to center primarily on production staff, and reporters and others will be expected to fill in the gaps. Reporter Dylan Byers notes, “Redundant assignments will be nixed, and various divisions will be reduced or even eliminated.”

CEO Mark Thompson is expected to implement the changes, which will attempt to make the network more competitive after ratings plummeted under former CNN head Chris Licht. Thompson has already implemented some changes at CNN, including scrapping the network’s opinion section in August of this year. He also fired around a hundred employees as part of restructuring in July.

Licht’s tenure as head of the network saw ratings decline to 800,000 in prime time. Under CEO Jeff Zucker, whom Licht replaced, the network saw highs of 13.3 million viewers in prime time. CNN is now one of the lowest-rated news networks on cable and could only manage 5.1 million viewers on election night, compared to 6 million on MSNBC and 10.3 million on Fox News.

Last month, CNN announced it would introduce a paywall on its online content in a bid to raise cash, offering a $3.99-a-month subscription service. CNN had previously tried to launch a streaming app, CNN+, but that failed after just 30 days.
