Far-Left Boston City Councilor and Former Illegal Immigrant Faces Federal Indictment for Corruption.

Boston City Councilor Tania Fernandes Anderson, a former illegal immigrant hailing from Cape Verde, was arrested Friday, according to an announcement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Consequently, the far-left Boston politician has been indicted on five counts of aiding and abetting wire fraud and theft from federally funded programs. Fernandes Anderson allegedly orchestrated a kickback scheme involving a staff member that resulted in the illicit acquisition of several thousand dollars of taxpayer money.

U.S. Attorney Joshua Levy elaborated on the charges during a news conference, asserting that the six felony counts are tied to the councilor’s alleged agreement to receive a bribe in exchange for accessing public funds. “When her constituents elected Ms. Fernandes Anderson, she had a fundamental obligation to act with the utmost integrity. Public officials who line their pockets with taxpayer money erode the trust and confidence of the public in the officials who serve them,” Levy said.

Fernandes Anderson made history as Boston’s first Muslim city councilor and the first former illegal immigrant on the council. She was originally elected in November 2021 and re-elected the following year. Her district encompasses Roxbury, Dorchester, the South End, and Fenway.

The court documents reveal that the 45-year-old councilor was experiencing financial difficulties in 2023, which led to issues such as bank overdraft fees and difficulty meeting car and rent payments. Early Friday morning, agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) took Fernandes Anderson into custody.

However, this is not the first time the Boston city councilor has been embroiled in controversy over hiring family members. In 2022, she admitted hiring her sister and son as staff and was forced to terminate their employment.

GOP Senator Faces Primary Challenge After Trump Conviction Vote.

A Republican Senator who voted to convict President-elect Donald J. Trump after the sham January 6 impeachment trial is now facing a serious primary challenge. Louisiana Senator Bill Cassidy will face a primary challenge from state Treasurer John Fleming in the 2026 election.

Fleming, who held various roles during the first Trump administration and previously served in the House of Representatives, announced his candidacy on Wednesday. The Louisiana Treasurer criticized Cassidy for lacking support for Trump and “America First” principles.

“Senator Cassidy has failed the people of Louisiana,” Fleming stated in his announcement. Cassidy, now the incoming chairman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee, has not yet formalized his reelection plans. However, in a recent interview, he expressed his commitment to preparing for the 2026 race.

According to data from the Federal Election Commission (FEC), Cassidy has accumulated over $5.8 million. Despite the modest war chest, the Louisiana Senator is viewed by many as being especially vulnerable to a primary from a strong MAGA candidate.

Trump, who has previously questioned Cassidy’s loyalty, criticized the senator on Truth Social earlier this year. “One of the worst Senators in the United States Senate is, without question, Bill Cassidy, A TOTAL FLAKE, Republican though he may be,” Trump wrote, recalling: “When the Democrats’ Impeachment Hoax started, this Lamebrain Senator actually voted against me.”

Senator Cassidy also serves on the Senate Finance Committee, which is set to scrutinize Robert F. Kennedy Jr., whom President-Elect Trump has nominated to head the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Along with several others, Senator Cassidy has received large amounts of campaign cash from Big Pharma, which RFK Jr. has challenged.

Senate Report: Only 6 Percent of Federal Workers Are Full-Time In-Office.

A report from Senator Joni Ernst‘s (R-IA) office reveals that only six percent of federal employees work in person full-time, with nearly one-third working entirely remotely. This marks a significant change from pre-pandemic conditions, when a mere three percent teleworked daily.

“The nation’s capital is a ghost town, with government buildings averaging an occupancy rate of 12 percent,” the Iowa Republican wrote in the report, noting: “If federal employees can’t be found at their desks, exactly where are they?”

“When I was making the biscuits at Hardee’s, I clocked in every morning. At the end of my shift, I clocked out. If I didn’t show up, the biscuits wouldn’t be made, and I wouldn’t be paid. Plain and simple. There is no such accountability today for the federal workforce,” Ernst says. Iowa Senator said that “[o]ver half of federal employees are telework-eligible, and nearly 90 percent of those are teleworking. But no one is checking to make sure everyone made it to work or even logged on to their computer. Backlogs for services are typical and accountability is rare.”

A JOB FOR DOGE?

Concerned about the increase in remote work among federal employees and lack of productivity, Ernst says she plans to discuss the matter with Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) leaders Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy during their Capitol visit on Thursday. Ernst also criticized President Joe Biden’s days spent away from the White House, suggesting his actions set a precedent. President Biden’s travel and time away from the White House tallies at 532 days over the last three and a half years.

Collaboration with Open the Books helped Ernst’s office uncover the redaction of over 281,000 federal employees’ work locations by the Biden-Harris government. This report indicates annual costs of $15.7 billion for leasing and maintaining federal buildings, with an additional $15 million for vacant and partially empty properties.

A D.C. GHOST TOWN.

According to the investigation, no federal agency occupies more than half of its office space. Ernst expressed taxpayers’ concerns over inefficiencies in government services, citing examples like a whistleblower’s warning of bacteria in baby formula left unread by the FDA.

Ernst reported anomalies in locality pay, with some federal teleworkers receiving inappropriate pay increases. Approximately 25 percent of daily teleworkers reside over 50 miles from their workplace. Despite Biden’s call to increase in-person attendance, union agreements have maintained broad teleworking privileges.

WATCH: Trump Assassination Hearing Devolves Into Screaming Match with Secret Service Chief.

A U.S. House of Representatives hearing devolved into chaos on Thursday as a shouting match broke out between U.S. Secret Service (USSS) Acting Director Ronald Rowe Jr. and Congressman Pat Fallon (R-TX). The Capitol Hill hearing was held by the Task Force on the Attempted Assassination of Donald J. Trump as part of its ongoing investigation into the attempt on the now-President-elect’s life during a July rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

The Texas Congressman blasted the USSS’s handling of security measures, expressing strong disapproval of the agency’s performance that allowed attackers to target Trump on two separate occasions. Fallon singled out Rowe’s presence alongside President Joe Biden as a dignitary—rather than as the Special Agent in Charge (SAC) overseeing security—during the 9/11 memorial event in New York City in September as an example of the agency’s misplaced priorities.

SHOUTING MATCH.

“Actually, let me address this,” Rowe said with an indignant tone—demanding Fallonw’s staff not remove the photo of the 9/11 memorial dignitaries. The acting USSS director continued: “Actually, Congressman, what you’re not seeing is the SAC of the detail off, out of the picture’s view. And that is the day that we remember the more than 3,000 people that have died on 9/11.”

Rowe continued, telling Fallon that he was a Ground Zero responder in what the Congressman took to be an attempt to stonewall his line of inquiry. “I’m not asking you that,” Fallon began before being interrupted by Rowe, who shouted: “I was there, Congressman! I was there!” Rowe, still shouting, demanded the Texas Republican show respect for the members of the USSS who died on 9/11.

“Oh, you’re trying to be,” Fallon said before Rowe—still shouting—again interrupted: “Do not invoke 9/11 for political purposes!”

“No, I’m not,” Fallon shot back, pointing at Rowe. “You are, sir!” Rowe shouted in response, with the Congressman pushing back: “Don’t try to bully me!”

The FBI is Investigating Drone Sightings Near President-Elect Trump’s Bedminster Golf Club.

The Hunterdon County Sheriff’s Office announced on Wednesday that recent drone sightings within the county and other parts of New Jersey are under investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The unusual drone activity has sparked enough concern for Hunterdon County Commissioner John Lanza to seek a public briefing.

Lanza, the liaison to the Sheriff’s Office and Department of Public Safety, emphasized that some reports describe drones hovering over residential areas for extended periods. Meanwhile, other accounts mention drones flying in clusters, sometimes as large as eight.

Sightings of drones near President-elect Donald J. Trump’s Bedminster golf club, located just east of Hunterdon County, are especially concerning. In response to the drone incursions, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced it was implementing temporary flight restrictions in several parts of the state.

“At the request of federal security partners, the FAA published two temporary flight restrictions (TFRs) prohibiting drone flights over Picatinny Arsenal Military Base and Trump National Golf Club Bedminster,” the agency said.

“Drones are considered aircraft, and their operation is subject to strict regulations by the FAA,” Lanza noted, pointing to the potential regulatory implications. The sheriff’s office reiterated the importance of recognizing unauthorized drone use as a significant threat to public safety, privacy, and national security.

Residents are advised against interacting directly with any drones that might have experienced mechanical issues. Instead, authorities should be promptly notified to handle the situation.

Woke American Soccer Goalie Attacks Muslim Player for Refusing LGBT Indoctrination.

The decision by a top soccer team to withdraw LGBTQ rainbow jackets after a Muslim player protested has drawn criticism from a woke former player. Tim Howard, a New Jersey-born ex-goalkeeper for Manchester United, attacked his old team for deferring to current player Noussair Mazraoui, who said he would not wear an LGBTQ jacket, citing his Muslim faith. This prompted the team to abandon the jackets entirely so Maraoui would not be “isolated.”

“Any team, any organization should always do what is right. And if one player chooses not to take part, they are entitled to do that, Howard complains. However, he warns players opting out of doing “the right thing” will have “eyes on them.”

“Teams don’t have to protect players. Teams should focus on the greater good, not the beliefs of one individual,” he insists, declaring he “tend[s] to have a problem with any faith or any religion that doesn’t put human rights first.”

In common with many leftists, Howard goes on to suggest people have to agree with his social politics to be good Christians—despite Mazraoui being a Muslim—saying, “Jesus knelt beside beggars and sinners and thieves—people from all walks of life.”

While this is true, Jesus disapproved of sin—saving a woman accused of adultery from being stoned but instructing her to “sin no more,” for instance.

Multiple New Testament texts affirm that homosexuality is a sin, according to the Christian faith.

Muhammad Tops List as Most Popular Baby Boy Name in England.

Muhammad, the name of the Islamic prophet, has emerged as the most popular name for baby boys in England and Wales, surpassing Noah, according to the British government’s Office for National Statistics (ONS). In 2023, over 4,600 boys were named Muhammad, marking an increase of nearly 500 from the previous year. In contrast, the number of boys named Noah decreased to 4,382 from 4,586 in 2022. Oliver, ranking third, also experienced a slight decline.

While various spellings of Muhammad have collectively been popular for over a decade, this is the first time a single spelling has topped the list. When all alternative spellings, such as Muhammed, Mohammad, and Mohammed, are considered, the name has been the most popular for boys in England and Wales for years.

Mohammed first appeared in the top 100 rankings in 1924 and has risen steadily since the 1960s. However, Britain is not the only country that has seen a surge in popularity of the name of the Islamic prophet in recent years. In Germany, it was the most popular name for baby boys in both Berlin and Hamburg in 2023.

Even Ireland, at the western edge of Europe, has seen a rise in baby boys with the Islamic name. In 2022, it became the most popular name in the country’s fourth-largest city, Galway.

Meanwhile, in France, men named Mohammed were the most commonly arrested individuals during the riots that gripped the country following the fatal shooting of a migration-background teenager in Nanterre by police last year.

Texas Lawmakers Plan to Ban All Consumable THC Next Year.

Texas lawmakers are set to discuss a proposal aimed at banning all consumable THC products in the upcoming legislative session beginning January 14, 2025. Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick announced that Senate Bill 3, which would prohibit these products, including those with low levels of THC like delta-8 and delta-9, is among his top priorities.

“We are not going to allow these retailers to circumvent the law and put Texans’ lives in danger,” the Lieutenant Governor said in a statement. “This bill will have broad bipartisan support in the Senate, and I trust the House will also see the danger of these products and pass this bill with overwhelming support so it can become law immediately.”

Although marijuana remains illegal in Texas, a 2019 law promoting agriculture allowed Texans to purchase low-level THC items such as vapes, gummies, and seltzers. Current regulations require consumable hemp products to contain no more than 0.3 percent THC. However, Patrick has expressed concerns that some products on the market exceed this legal limit.

If the proposed bill is approved, the sale of all THC products would be halted, ending the legality of buying these items in Texas. Patrick asserts that the measure is necessary to prevent retailers from exploiting the law to sell products deemed dangerous to the public. He anticipates broad bipartisan support for the bill in both the Senate and the House, emphasizing the urgency for it to become law.

This development follows a recent case involving a business named THC Club in Houston. The establishment was raided after investigators found them selling products that reportedly surpassed the legal potency limits. The business owners faced money laundering charges related to selling unlawful items.

MSNBC’s Brzezinski Apologizes for David Frum’s ‘Flippant’ Mocking of Pete Hegseth.

Mika Brzezinski, host of MSNBC‘s Morning Joe, apologized on Wednesday following remarks made by The Atlantic‘s David Frum during an earlier segment on the program. The Canadian-American neoconservative mocked Pete Hegseth, President-elect Donald J. Trump’s nominee for Secretary of Defense, referencing anonymous sources that claimed the Fox News host smelled of alcohol on set.

“Well, just given what one sees on camera, if you’re too drunk for Fox News, you’re very, very drunk indeed,” Frum said. The former George W. Bush White House speechwriter continued: “In 1989, President George H. W. Bush nominated John Tower, senator from Texas, for Secretary of Defense. Tower was a very considerable person, a real defense intellectual, someone who deeply understood defense, unlike the current nominee. It emerged that Tower had a drinking problem, and when he was drinking too much, he would make himself a nuisance or worse to women around him.”

In his critique, Frum questioned the current candidate’s qualifications for the defense role, stating that moral standards should not allow for a nominee lacking defense knowledge and leadership. Notably, Frum was forced to resign from the Bush White House after his wife publicly bragged that he was the author of the phrase “axis of evil.”

AN APOLOGY.

Later in the broadcast, Brzezinski addressed the situation, clarifying remarks made about Fox News and Hegseth.

“And before we go to break or a little bit earlier in this block, there was a comment made about Fox News in our coverage about Pete and the growing number of allegations about his behavior over the years and possible addiction to alcohol or issues with alcohol,” Brzezinski said, continuing: “The comment was a little too flippant for this moment that we’re in. We just want to make that comment as well. We want to make that clear.”

She added: “We have differences in coverage with Fox News, and that’s a good debate that we should have often. But right now, I just want to say there’s a lot of good people that work at Fox News who care about Pete Hegseth, and we want to leave it at that.”

UnitedHealthcare CEO Targeted with Message-Laden Bullets, Officials Report.

On Wednesday morning, UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was shot and killed in New York City. The shooter, who remains unidentified, used bullets etched with the words “deny,” “defend,” and “depose,” according to police. The words were found inscribed on shell casings at the scene. Authorities are investigating if these terms are connected to insurance company practices.

Some speculate the inscriptions may be linked to a book titled Delay, Deny, Defend, which argues that “to improve their profits, insurance companies delay payment of justified claims, deny payment altogether, and defend their actions by forcing claimants to enter litigation.”

Thompson, 50, was gunned down before 7 AM in a busy part of Manhattan, outside the Hilton Midtown hotel. He was scheduled to attend an investor conference there after staying at a nearby Marriott. Security cameras captured him approaching the Hilton at 6:45 AM when the masked gunman, who had been waiting, shot him in the back and leg. The assailant then escaped on a bicycle headed towards Central Park.

SUSPECT UNKNOWN.

Police have recovered three live rounds and three discharged shell casings and are continuing their search for the shooter, described as a white male in a tan jacket, black face mask, black-and-white sneakers, with a gray backpack. Additional images from a Starbucks nearby, taken 20 minutes before the shooting, were released. A source revealed the suspect paid with cash at the café. Investigators are examining forensic evidence from the Starbucks and a cellphone found near the crime scene.

No motive has been officially identified. However, New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch labeled the incident “premeditated and targeted” in a press conference. Thompson’s wife mentioned receiving threats related to insurance coverage issues but lacked specific details. Public protests over coverage concerns have occurred in Minnesota, where UnitedHealthcare is headquartered and Thompson resided.

Investigations continue, with law enforcement exploring potential threats from disgruntled former employees and reviewing security footage. A reward of up to $10,000 is offered for tips leading to the suspect’s arrest and conviction. The public is encouraged to report information to Crime Stoppers or submit tips anonymously online. The investigation is ongoing.
