Pelosi: ‘I Hope I Don’t Burn in Hell.’

Representative Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has said she hopes she does not “burn in Hell” on the Politics Weekly America podcast. The Speaker Emerita, 84, claimed on the show that she avoids using former President Donald J. Trump’s name in favor of euphemisms like “what’s his name,” likening it to a profanity that could leave her soul in a state of sin.

Pelosi, who is seeking reelection in November, told the Guardian-run podcast that Trump is “a grotesque word,” explaining, “I’m afraid, you know, when I grew up Catholic, as I am now, if you said a bad word, you could burn in hell if you didn’t have a chance to confess. So I don’t want to take any chances. It’s up there with, like, swearing.”

When she did utter Trump’s name later in the podcast, she soon exclaimed, “I said his name, oh my gosh, I hope I don’t burn in Hell.”

However, despite her claims to be a staunch and lifelong Catholic, Pelosi has already been banned from receiving Holy Communion by Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone of San Francisco over her strong support for aborting children, in open defiance of Church teaching.

“As you have not publically repudiated your position on abortion, and continue to refer to your Catholic faith in justifying your position… you are not to be admitted to Holy Communion, until such time as you publicly repudiate your advocacy for the legitimacy of abortion and confess and receive absolution of this grave sin in the sacrament of Penance,” he ordered in May 2022.

Bishop Robert Vasa of the Diocese of Santa Rosa, Bishop Michael Burbidge of the Diocese of Arlington, Virginia, and Bishop Joseph Strickland, then of the Diocese of Tyler, Texas, issued similar bans shortly afterward.

Europe May Normalize Relations With Syria’s Assad to Begin Deportations.

Several European states are reportedly considering normalizing their relations with Syria‘s President Bashar al-Assad to facilitate deportations to his country. Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is calling on the European Union (EU) to reconsider its relationship with the Assad government as the bloc looks to increase deportations of illegal immigrants and failed asylum seekers. Western governments have been seeking to oust the Russia-backed leader since 2011, with moves to potentially normalize ties serving as a tacit acknowledgment that regime change efforts have failed.

“It is necessary to review the European Union Strategy for Syria and to work with all actors, to create the conditions for Syrian refugees to return to their homeland in a voluntary, safe, and sustainable way,” Meloni said.

The EU has not had formal relations with Assad’s Syria since 2011. Still, Meloni is reportedly looking to push the issue with other EU leaders on Thursday during a meeting in Brussels.

Over the last several months, partly due to a surge in the popularity of populist parties in elections in France, Germany, and Austria, EU governments have begun to take a much more pro-borders stance.

Germany, with its leftist coalition government, has enacted border checks at all of its land frontiers. At the same time, Poland wants to deny the right of asylum to migrants crossing into the country illegally via Belarus.

The move to normalize relations with President Assad also comes as he has seen leaders in the Middle East begin to restore their own ties with the Syrian leader.

Last year, Assad attended a meeting with Arab leaders for the first time in over ten years, being hugged by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Saudi Arabia had previously backed some of the Syrian insurrectionists fighting to overthrow Assad’s government.

Syrian migrants in Europe have been behind many high-profile crimes, including a mass stabbing at a diversity festival in Solingen, Germany, earlier this year that left three people dead.

Germany has the largest proportion of Syrian migrants in Europe—at least 972,000—and most are on welfare.

Meloni’s Migrant Removal Could Set a New Precedent.

Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is hailing her country’s asylum deal with Albania. The agreement allows migrants trying to reach the European Union (EU) country to be offshored to the Muslim-majority Balkan country to have their asylum claims processed, and the first 16 have now been transferred.

“It is a new, courageous, unprecedented path, but one that perfectly reflects the European spirit and has all the makings of a path to be taken with other non-EU nations as well,” Meloni told the Italian parliament on Tuesday, October 15.

Of the 16 migrants sent to Albania, 10 are from Bangladesh, and the remaining six are Egyptians. It is unlikely any of the men will be eligible for asylum, and according to Meloni, those whose claims are rejected will be deported. Presently, few asylum seekers in the EU are deported even if their claims are found to be bogus, and the hope is that the threat of ending up in Albania instead of a relatively prosperous EU welfare state will deter arrivals. Up to 36,000 migrants can be housed and processed annually in Albanian centers.

All 16 migrants sent to Albania were picked up in the Mediterranean Sea while trying to reach Italy. However, under the plan, only migrants picked up in international waters by the Italian government or naval vessels are eligible to be sent to Albania. Those who reach Italian territory are not.

EUROPE’S MIGRANT CRISIS.

Italy has seen hundreds of thousands of illegals arrive in recent years, many of whom disappear from reception centers to begin working illegally or move onward to another EU country or the United Kingdom.

While over 157,000 migrants entered Italy during Meloni’s first year as prime minister, the number of arrivals has declined by around 64 percent so far in 2024.

Several other European countries have recently announced their own anti-illegal immigration measures, including Germany, which has reintroduced border controls for six months after several fatal mass stabbings.

EU Chief Talks ‘Tough’ on Deportation.

The head of the European Union Commission has taken a new harder line on the deportation of illegals, drafting a letter that appears to support the idea of asylum processing centers outside of the EU. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen released her letter on illegal migration on Tuesday, October 15, calling for measures to increase the number of illegal migrants deported.

Among the proposed policies is a call for the EU to develop better relationships with countries outside of the continental union to better facilitate deportations and cooperation in anti-people trafficking operations. Von der Leyen cited cooperation with North African states as a reason Italy has seen a decrease in illegal arrivals this year.

The letter also indicates that withholding or limiting visas for countries who refuse to take back their nationals has also had a positive effect, with Von der Leyen stating the EU should be ready to leverage visa policy in other areas like trade.

People smuggling, a multi-billion dollar illegal business, is also mentioned, with Von der Leyen calling for a greater sense of urgency in tackling the issue and stating members should “follow the money” to track, disrupt, and arrest people traffickers.

In a significant shift, Von Der Leyen also states that she is now open to using third countries to process asylum claims, noting Italy and Albania, a non-EU country, have signed such a deal.

She adds that using third countries to process asylum claims can deter migrants from trying to cross the Mediterranean Sea, which is extremely dangerous due to both weather conditions and people smugglers overpacking boats.

Last year, the United Nations estimated that 1,908 migrants either died or disappeared trying to cross the Mediterranean.

Top Kamala Ally Forged Deep Ties to Chinese Communist Party.

A close ally of Vice President Kamala Harris has worked to forge close business ties with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), promising to leverage the voices of African Americans in the United States to help the colonial-esque aims of the Chinese on the African continent. Ron Busby—the leader of the U.S. Black Chambers business group—has been praised by Harris as an “extraordinary leader” and held numerous official meetings with Biden-Harris government staff, including dozens of visits to the White House.

While Harris and other national Democrats have praised Busby for his work on behalf of black businesses in the United States, he has leveraged that attention to build close ties to key CCP leaders. The U.S. Black Chambers chief’s work with New York Democrats has been especially beneficial in these regards.

In September 2017, Busby joined a delegation of New York state officials and business leaders on a 10-day junket to China, where they met with their Communist Party counterparts in Shanghai, Xi’an, and Beijing.

Earlier this year, a top aide to New York governors Andrew Cuomo and Kathy Hochul was arrested on the suspicion she acted as an unregistered foreign agent for Communist China. The Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in New York, implicated in the foreign agent scheme, underwrote the 2017 junket.

AFRICA & NATIONAL SECURITY CONCERNS.

Concerningly, Busby appears to have involved himself—and, as a consequence, other leaders in the black business community—in Chinese colonial efforts on the African continent.

“[China understands] the importance of being on the continent obviously, but they also understand that there needs to be a relationship between the people on the continent, and they understand that African Americans have a natural relationship here, and so we [three] will work together to bring their resources that they have along with the ingenuity, creativity that we have in the United States, to bring that here,” Busby said regarding the 2017 junket while at conference in Durban, South Africa. He added: “Collectively, all three continents can grow, and they’re very excited as well as we are.”

Even more troubling, according to documents reviewed by Fox News, Busby promised to share resources between America’s black business community and Chinese Communist officials in Xi’an, raising national security concerns. The Chinese state report reads that Busby’s “[U.S. Black Chambers, Inc.] administered more than 100 chambers, and he is willing to share and communicate the resources with Xi’an in various fields.”

Vice President Harris’s running mate, Governor Tim Walz (D-MN), also has extensive ties to China and the Chinese Communist Party, which has prompted a Congressional probe.

Catholics Rallied Against Whitmer’s Communion Mockery, Forcing Her to Apologize.

Around 100 Christians gathered outside Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s residence on Sunday to pray the Holy Rosary. The event was held in protest after the Democratic governor appeared to mock the Catholic faith, as part of a pressure campaign that forced her to apologize.

The rally, organized by CatholicVote, was in response to a video in which Governor Whitmer placed a Dorito chip on the tongue of Canadian feminist and pro-abortion activist Liz Plank while she kneeled down, appearing to mock Holy Communion. A video posted by CatholicVote on social media showed a line of rally-goers in raincoats and holding umbrellas outside the governor’s Lansing home.

Republican State Representative Josh Schriver of Oxford promoted the event, calling it a “Response to Whitmer’s Communion Mockery.”

Whitmer and Plank’s video also garnered criticism from Catholic religious leaders, including the Michigan Catholic Conference, which represents the state’s Catholic bishops. “It is not just distasteful or ‘strange;’ it is an all-too-familiar example of an elected official mocking religious persons and their practices,” Michigan Catholic Conference President Paul A. Long said of the incident.

Following backlash, Whitmer released an apology, claiming she never meant to insult anyone’s faith, claiming, “Over 25 years in public service, I would never do something to denigrate someone’s faith.”

“What was supposed to be a video about the importance of the CHIPS Act to Michigan jobs has been construed as something it was never intended to be, and I apologize for that,” she added.

However, a reference to the CHIPS Act was only added to the video’s caption after the backlash had begun.

During the video, Whitmer wore a hat supporting Vice President Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign. Harris was previously seen as snubbing Catholics by refusing to attend the annual Al Smith Dinner, sponsored by the Archdiocese of New York. She is the first presidential candidate to skip the dinner since Walter Mondale in 1984.

Man Falsely Accused of Being ‘3rd Trump Assassin’ Sues Cops.

Las Vegas resident Vem Miller, arrested outside a California rally for former President Donald J. Trump on Saturday, filed a federal lawsuit on Tuesday against the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. Miller, 49, alleges officers violated his constitutional rights during the arrest. Authorities booked him on misdemeanor charges, including possession of a loaded firearm and a high-capacity magazine.

Miller, a former 2022 Republican candidate for the Nevada Assembly and a Trump supporter, denies any suggestion that he was planning an assassination attempt, calling the accusation “ridiculous.”

The lawsuit, filed in Nevada, claims officers violated Miller’s First Amendment right to free speech and his Fourth Amendment protection against unlawful search and seizure. According to the suit, Miller legally owned the firearms found in his vehicle and had disclosed them to an officer. Officers pulled him over, instructed him to exit his vehicle, handcuffed him, and placed him in a patrol car while they allegedly conducted an illegal search of his vehicle.

Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco told the media, “I probably did have deputies that prevented the third assassination attempt.” However, Miller’s lawsuit asserts that the sheriff sought to boost his profile. “Bianco did not miss an opportunity to fabricate allegations against Miller, going on numerous news outlets, claiming to have thwarted a third assassination attempt against Presidential Candidate Donald J. Trump,” it states.

Miller’s attorney, Sigal Chattah, says Miller’s arrest has caused his financial and personal ruin. The suit claims that the Secret Service and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), informed about the incident, did not view Miller as a threat. The federal agencies confirmed that Trump was never in danger and that no federal arrest was made, although the investigation remains ongoing.

BREAKING: Everyone Still Hates The Media.

Trust in the corporate media among Americans remains significantly low. Just 31 percent say they expect media outlets to report news “fully, accurately and fairly.” This figure is nearly unchanged from last year’s 32 percent.

The most recent Gallup survey, conducted between September 3 and 15, highlights a persistent trend since 2016, where confidence fell to around 32 percent. For three years in a row, more individuals stated they have no trust in media 36 percent, compared to those who expressed at least some trust. Additionally, 33 percent report having minimal confidence in media accuracy.

Since Gallup first measured it in 1972, trust in media has decreased substantially. During the 1970s, it ranged between 68 percent and 72 percent, falling to between 51 percent and 55 percent by the late 1990s and early 2000s.

ONLY DEMOCRATS TRUST THE MEDIA.

Partisan differences in media trust are evident as well. Currently, 54 percent of Democrats, 27 percent of independents, and 12 percent of Republicans express confidence in the corporate press—suggesting that there is a degree of awareness regarding the media’s overarching political bias. There is also a noticeable age-related gap in trust, with those 65 and older showing 43 percent confidence compared to 26 percent among those under 50.

Obvious examples of political favoritism can partly explain the low confidence in media. The National Pulse reported in July that CNN’s media correspondent, Hadas Gold, acknowledged the White House press ignored Joe Biden’s cognitive decline because they feared it would help former President Donald J. Trump’s campaign.

Gallup’s survey also examines trust in various political and civic institutions. Local governments receive the highest trust levels, at 67 percent, followed by state governments and the American public’s judgment. Congress and media are among the least trusted, with 34 percent confidence levels. The judicial and executive branches also see relatively low trust figures, between 40 percent and 48 percent.

Boris Johnson Mounts Another Ludicrous Defense of Mass Migration.

Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is defending the explosion in annual net immigration to a record high of 762,000 under his premiership, despite having promised to reduce it during the Brexit referendum and his election campaign. Speaking to Harry Cole, Johnson argued that, following the COVID-19 pandemic, the country was facing “a nightmare where we couldn’t stack the shelves and we couldn’t fill the petrol stations with petrol; everyone was freaking out.”

He claimed “every business group” and every government department was demanding more migrants, so he had to massively increase the annual influx far beyond pre-pandemic levels despite promising to reduce it in his 2019 election platform. He also heavily implied mass migration was needed to reduce inflation.

It is questionable whether mass migration reduces inflation. Even proponents of the idea claim it does so partly by driving down wages, which many workers would regard as a net negative. However, evidence is robust that mass migration increases prices significantly in other areas, such as the cost of housing and rent.

Inflation in the United States remains stubbornly high despite record immigration, which has driven the foreign-born population to its highest level since records began.

An official British government report has also conceded that low-paid migrants—such as shelf-stackers—are an immediate net drain on the state, not a boon. By retirement age, such migrants cost the country the equivalent of almost $200,000, rising to $650,000 each if they live to 80 and well over $1 million if they reach age 100.

These figures likely underestimate the lifetime costs of low-paid migrants to British taxpayers, as the government’s modeling assumes they have no dependents, such as children or elderly relatives. In fact, the fertility rate is higher among the foreign-born population than the native population, and the spouses of certain migrants, such as Pakistanis, are disproportionately jobless.

30% of U.S. Border Cameras Non-Operational Under Biden-Harris Oversight.

A U.S. Border Patrol internal memo has revealed that about one-third of the cameras in its primary surveillance network along the southern U.S. border are currently non-functional. This presents significant challenges for border agents tasked with monitoring unauthorized crossings.

The memo, obtained in early October, highlighted issues that affect approximately 150 of the 500 cameras installed on surveillance towers lining the U.S.-Mexico border. The widespread malfunctioning is attributed to “technical problems.”

The memo criticizes the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for failing to provide adequate service and maintenance for the systems. The FAA will send personnel to address the ongoing issues while the Border Patrol considers replacing the FAA with a contractor to ensure better technical support.

The Border Patrol union in Laredo, Texas, expressed concern about the inoperative cameras, stating, “The American taxpayer has made significant investments in technology along the border, and they expect that this technology is operational.”

A majority of Americans believe the Biden-Harris government is allowing illegal immigration at scale in order to create a “permanent majority” for the Democrats over time, as naturalized citizens and their recent descendants tend to skew Democratic. Illegal immigration has reached unprecedented levels under the current government, with some projections estimating it could match all legal immigration from 1892 to 1954 by the time Joe Biden’s term ends.

Vice President Kamala Harris is signaling she wants to provide the 11 million-plus illegal aliens already in the U.S. a pathway to citizenship. Previously, she has campaigned on decriminalizing illegal immigration and defunding U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
