Pope Francis, the head of the Roman Catholic Church, delivered a pro-life message to start the 2025 Jubilee year and called on Catholics to entrust the year to the Virgin Mary. In his first homily of the New Year at St. Peter’s Basilica on January 1, 2025, during the Mass for the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, the Pope emphasized the importance of respecting human life “from conception to natural death.” He also urged the faithful to dedicate 2025 to Mary, the Mother of God.
“Mary, the young woman of Nazareth, reminds us that Jesus came in the flesh, and that we encounter Him above all in our daily life, in our own frail humanity and that of all those whom we encounter each day,” the pontiff said.
The pro-life message is one of many made by Pope Francis during his pontificate. He has even gone as far as calling abortion practitioners “hitmen” during a trip to Belgium last year. However, the Pope has at times also called American Catholic conservatives “backward” in their political beliefs, and he opened the door to same-sex individuals receiving blessings from the Church.
“May we learn to care for every child born of a woman, above all by protecting, like Mary, the precious gift of life: life in the womb, the lives of children, the lives of the suffering, the poor, the elderly, the lonely and the dying,” he stressed.
In his homily, the Pope described the characteristics of God’s relationship with humanity as mercy, closeness, and compassion. He encouraged the faithful to recognize God’s presence in everyday encounters and emulate Jesus’ actions toward the vulnerable and weak.

A military appeals court has determined that Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin cannot overturn plea agreements for detainees at Guantanamo Bay, including Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, who is accused of orchestrating the 9/11 attacks. The decision, yet to be publicly posted, affirms that the plea deals crafted by military prosecutors and defense attorneys remain valid. The court found that Austin overstepped his authority by attempting to revoke the agreements.
Meanwhile, the Pentagon may seek an emergency review from the D.C. Circuit federal appeals court, although as of earlier this week, no filings were recorded in the court docket. A hearing is scheduled at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, next week where Mohammed and two other defendants might plead guilty, with the possibility of the death penalty being removed as a potential outcome.
Negotiated during the summer and sanctioned by the leading official of the military commission at Guantanamo, the plea agreements have sparked strong criticism from some 9/11 victims’ families and U.S. lawmakers on Capitol Hill. Vice President-elect J.D. Vance, responding to the plea deals earlier this year, slammed the Biden government for aggressively pursuing its domestic political adversaries—including President-elect Donald J. Trump and hundreds of January 6 protestors—while crafting agreements with known foreign Islamist terrorists.
Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and the other 9/11 plotters, held at the special U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba, face charges of providing training, financial support, and other assistance to the al-Qaeda terrorists who perpetrated the attack.

China’s President Xi Jinping rang in the New Year by pledging that nothing would stop the communist state’s takeover of Taiwan. During his televised New Year’s speech, the autocratic leader of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) defiantly declared that no other nation could prevent China from annexing the breakaway island, which has maintained its independence since 1949, without ever being controlled by the People’s Republic of China.
Meanwhile, Taiwan’s President Lai Ching-te, in his New Year’s address, underscored Taiwan’s role as a critical component of the global “defense of democracy.” Lai reiterated Taiwan’s willingness to engage in dialogue with Beijing but did not back down on strengthening Taiwanese military capabilities. According to Taiwan’s defense ministry, the new year commenced with Chinese warplanes and ships conducting a “combat patrol” around Taiwan. Such maneuvers, which involve air and maritime deployments near Taiwan, have become a frequent occurrence.
President Xi has routinely threatened Taiwan’s sovereignty to stoke national unity in mainland China. In December 2023, ahead of Taiwan’s elections, Xi stated that China would take the island “by any means.” A month later, pro-CCP candidates were soundly defeated at the polls by Tawainese leaders backing continued independence from the mainland. While the entrenchment of anti-CCP leaders has blocked any diplomatic path to reunification, it may push Xi and the CCP towards more open conflict regarding integrating Taiwan.
The National Pulse reported in March that U.S. Admiral John Aquilino, head of the Indo-Pacific Command, testified before Congress that China is increasing its nuclear and military capabilities in preparation for a potential invasion of Taiwan by 2027. Aquilino noted that China also possesses advanced modern systems, enabling it to exert significant control in the Pacific.

President-elect Donald J. Trump is receiving push back from his America First base on Truth Social, after sharing an article by the far-left Editorial Board of the Boston Globe newspaper, saying he “got it spot on when he embraced the kind of visa program used to bring highly skilled technology workers to this country”—i.e.,H-1B migrants.
The Boston Globe board is packed with NeverTrumpers, far-leftists, globalists, and anti-Trump hoax peddlers.
“I lost my job to Indian Outsourcing by Verizon,” wrote one user, adding: “Tens of Millions of others have lost their jobs in a similar fashion. You are telling my Daughter that her college degree means nothing anymore because she now has to compete against 7 Billion people across the entire PLANET for a job,” he added, warning of a “bloodbath” in the midterms if the President-elect does not make a course correction, followed by another impeachment.
Another concurred, “I’m a software engineering manager at a FAANG company. There is no skill shortage whatsoever; we have an oversaturation of qualified American computer science graduates already. H1B is big tech’s way of stifling American salaries with less qualified foreign workers to help their bottom line.”
“H1B foreign tech workers have destroyed and undermined the American tech workers,” argued a third. “Over my 45 years in IT, I have seen thousands of good Americans [lose] their jobs and be forced to train their foreign imported replacements,” he continued, saying it is “a lie that there are not enough IT tech talent in America,” and, “The truth is these visas are used to control and suppress American workers and increase the profits of all companies that exploit them.”
‘YOU NEED TO HEAR US.’
Many objectors appealed to appeal to President-elect Trump’s better nature, posting replies such as, “President Trump, I voted for you three times. My family and I prayed for your safety. We supported you because you fought for us, the regular people. My humble opinion, sir, you need to hear us instead of people who benefit from cheaper foreign labor. Put Americans first, sir, just like you promised in the past.”
“[R]espectfully Sir, read all these comments,” pleaded another. “I have scrolled and scrolled and I have not read one American that supports this idea. We want #AmericaFirst #AmericansFirst,” they added.
Many highlighted President-elect Trump’s past opposition to the H-1B visa, saying, “You got it right the first time,” and sharing screenshots of his previous statements on the issue.
BOSTON GLOBE BOARD.
Raheem Kassam, Editor-in-Chief of The National Pulse, noted that the Boston Globe‘s editorial board, which is pushing Trump to go with Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy on the H-1B debate, is “one of the most far left, America-hating institutions in the country.”
“They endorsed Kamala, now they’re endorsing the H1-Bs,” he stressed.
The board is led by James Dao, who has peddled a number of hoaxes against Trump, including but not limited to the Russia hoax. He is supported by Marjorie Pritchard, a COVID and impeachment hoax peddler, as well as MSNBC contributor Kimberly Atkins Stohr.
The board features another dozen or so opinion writers, all but one of them being out-and-out leftists.

The explosion outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas has been attributed to Army veteran Matthew Livelsberger, 37, according to law enforcement sources. Livelsberger allegedly orchestrated the detonation of a Tesla Cybertruck, rented via the Turo app.
Livelsberger served in the Army for over 19 years, primarily with Special Forces, before assuming a civilian role as a Remote and Autonomous Systems Manager. The FBI raided a Colorado Springs townhouse connected to Livelsberger as part of their investigation.
The Green Beret veteran, who grew up in Ohio, has lived in Colorado Springs and was linked to various city addresses. Officials suspect Livelsberger drove the rented Cybertruck into Nevada on the attack morning, charging it along the way. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Sheriff Kevin McMahill reported that it arrived at around 7:30 a.m., with the explosion occurring shortly after.
Livelsberger and Shamsud Din Jabbar, who killed at least 15 people in New Orleans, both used electric vehicles rented from the Turo app. Both also served at Fort Bragg, the same base, with nearly 60,000 people, that would-be Trump assassin Ryan Routh visited over 100 times.
The explosion in Vegas resulted in Livelsberger’s death, with the Tesla Cybertruck’s design helping to contain the blast.
Social media commenters have queried how a special forces operator would be unable to identify these weaknesses in his own plan, if he indeed intended to harm more people than he did.
Turo released a statement expressing their cooperation with law enforcement, noting no criminal backgrounds for the renters involved.

President Joe Biden is set to announce the recipients of the Presidential Citizens Medal this Thursday, with Jan 6 committee hoaxster and ardent war monger Liz Cheney expected to be top billing.
Cheney, a former Republican Congress member, is going to be recognized for her critical stance against President-elect Donald Trump in a brazen partisan abuse of the Presidential Citizen’s medal.
Cheney, who was forced out by her own local party, joins other Biden nominees such as disgraced D.C. cops Harry Dunn and Michael Fanone.
The medal had previously been used to honor people such as Muhammad Ali and William F. Buckley Jr.
The awards will be presented at the White House on January 2, 2025. Other recipients include Mary L. Bonauto, an LGBT advocacy attorney, and Bill Bradley, a former NBA player and U.S. Senator.

A vehicle explosion that occurred outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas on Wednesday morning is under investigation as a potential act of terror. The incident involved a Tesla Cybertruck, which exploded around 9 a.m. local time, resulting in the death of the driver and minor injuries to at least seven bystanders.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is leading the investigation. The department confirmed that the explosion occurred in the hotel’s valet area.
Musk responded to the idea of using a Cybertruck as a weapon of terror on social media:
Cybertruck is the worst possible choice for a car bomb, as its stainless steel armor will contain the blast better than any other commercial vehicle
The explosion follows a separate incident in which a Muslim man from Texas drove a Ford electric truck rented from Turo into a New Year’s Day crowd in New Orleans, resulting in at least 10 fatalities and numerous injuries.
🚨 #BREAKING: The Cybertruck explosion outside of Trump Tower in Las Vegas is now being investigated as a possible ACT OF TERR0R, per ABC News.
Eric Trump, a vice president of the Trump Organization, issued a statement: “Earlier today, a reported electric vehicle fire occurred in the porte cochère of Trump Las Vegas. The safety and well-being of our guests and staff remain our top priority. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Las Vegas Fire Department and local law enforcement for their swift response and professionalism.”

Britain’s King Charles III has withdrawn royal warrants from Unilever and Cadbury, ending their recognition as suppliers to the Royal Family after criticism that both still conduct business in Russia. The decision, described by Cadbury as “disappointing,” was reported last week following the release of the second set of warrants during King Charles’ reign.
Royal warrants are given to companies that regularly provide goods or services to the royal household and allow these companies to display the Royal Arms on their products. Unilever, which owns brands like Dove, Ben & Jerry’s, Hellmann’s, and Mondelez, Cadbury’s parent company, received no specific explanation for the removals. According to the Royal Family’s website, warrants may not be renewed if the quality or supply of products or services is found lacking.
However, this change comes amid ongoing criticism from Ukraine’s government over these companies’ business activities in Russia. Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022, both Unilever and Mondelez have continued operations in Russia.
In June, the activist group B4Ukraine addressed an open letter to King Charles, urging him to withdraw royal warrants from companies including Mondelez and Unilever, alleging their presence in Russia is prolonging the conflict in Ukraine.
In response to the warrant cancellations, Mondelez expressed disappointment but respect for the decision, emphasizing pride in its long history of holding the royal warrant. Unilever similarly highlighted its longstanding service to the royal household and previous recognition by Queen Elizabeth II.

A city council member in Arcadia, California, is under scrutiny after her fiancé was accused of attempting to influence politics in favor of China’s ruling Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in federal courtdocuments. Eileen Wang, who joined the Arcadia City Council in Los Angeles County in 2022, is engaged to Mike Sun, allegedly linked to activities aimed at influencing U.S. policies to align with Beijing’s interests.
Sun, identified in court as Sun Yaoning, reportedly collaborated with Chen Jun, a Chinese agent recently sentenced for bribery, to support CCP policy aims. Federal prosecutors claim that Sun, a former Chinese military serviceman, managed Wang’s election campaign. He described this achievement as a victory against forces he viewed as hostile to U.S.-China relations.
Wang and Sun are noted as collaborators in business enterprises and various pro-CCP organizations. Their ventures include the American Southwest Chamber of Commerce, a nonprofit founded by Wang in 2018, intended to enhance connections between people in the American Southwest and China.
Charged with illegal agent activities, Sun was taken into custody by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on December 19. Although Wang was not named directly in the federal complaint, she is recognized as “Individual 1” with her details paralleling court documents’ descriptions. The court records link her residence to Sun’s last registered address.
Their partnership includes co-managing a mainly Chinese-language media outlet, U.S. News Center, which has prominently featured Wang in her roles before and after her election win. Campaign records show Wang has reimbursed Sun for expenses incurred during her political activities.
Despite the allegations, Arcadia City Manager Dominic Lazzaretto stated Sun had no role in local government operations. Wang has engaged with the FBI and has expressed her intention to cooperate fully with the investigation. Wang has neither been arrested nor charged with any crime.

Crime prevention activist and former New York City mayoral candidate Curtis Sliwa has announced that the Guardian Angels group will resume patrols in the city’s subway system after a woman was burned alive earlier this month. This decision follows the brutal murder and what Sliwa describes as the “Daniel Penny effect,” causing civilians to be hesitant about intervening against criminals.
Speaking at Brooklyn’s Stillwell Avenue-Coney Island subway station, Sliwa said, “We’re going to have to increase our numbers, increase the training, and increase our presence as we did back in 1979,” noting how the group went from 13 to 1,000 members in a single year.
The Guardian Angels are recognized for their distinctive red berets and are known to collaborate with law enforcement to tackle violence on public transit—when law enforcement is willing to cooperate, at least. The organization ceased its previous subway surveillance in 2020.
Sliwa believes that the Guardian Angels’ presence could help calm situations and facilitate communication with police officers on platform patrol. However, a spokesman for Mayor Eric Adams denigrated Sliwa’s efforts as “meaningless stunts,” insisting that the indicted Democrat mayor has already implemented measures to reduce crime.
Violence on the New York City subway was brought to national attention by the Daniel Penny case, which saw the Marine veteran accused of unlawfully killing Jordan Neely, a black schizophrenic with a history of assaulting women, by restraining him in a chokehold after he threatened passengers. Penny was cleared of all wrongdoing by a jury earlier this month.
