As Eastern Defenses Crumble, Ukraine Intensifies Counter-Invasion of Russia.

Ukraine is reportedly ramping up its military operations in Russia’s Kursk region, although there has been no official confirmation from the Ukrainians. The Russian Defense Ministry has stated that Ukrainian troops attempted a counterattack in Kursk Oblast but were repelled by Russian military forces.

This situation follows an offensive launched by Ukraine in the Kursk region in August 2024, a move that reportedly startled both Russia’s President Vladimir Putin and Ukraine’s Western allies.

Since the initial operation, Ukraine has been able to maintain some positions in the region. However, reports indicate that Russia has regained control over approximately half of the territory initially captured by Kiev’s forces.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky has recently commented on the significance of operations in Kursk Oblast, suggesting their potential impact on future talks aimed at ending the conflict with Russia.

Earlier this week, Zelensky indicated for the first time that he would be willing to speak face-to-face with President Putin to discuss ending the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, but still referred to Putin as an “enemy.” However, he is still adamant that his country should join the NATO military alliance, going as far as repeatedly threatening to acquire nuclear weapons if Ukraine is not allowed to become a member.

Zelensky AGAIN Threatens to Acquire Nukes If Not Let Into NATO.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky has again threatened that his country will try to acquire nuclear weapons if not allowed into the NATO military alliance. Zelensky stated that his country would require a “million-man army,” including contributions from allied nations, a nuclear deterrent, and advanced missile systems, supposedly to deter future Russian aggression.

Zelensky complained to Piers Morgan on Tuesday that Ukraine relinquished its Soviet-era nuclear arsenal in the 1990s “for nothing” and may seek to reacquire such weapons if NATO membership is not forthcoming. Ukraine hosts several civil nuclear plants, including the infamous Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, which could help facilitate Zelensky’s acquisition of radioactive weaponry.

Zelensky has made similar threats in the past, stating as recently as last October that he would seek nuclear arms if NATO did not accept Ukraine as a member.

“What way out do we have? Either Ukraine will have nuclear weapons, or we have to be in some kind of alliance,” Zelensky said.

Ukraine had nuclear weapons on its territory at the downfall of the former Soviet Union (USSR) but transferred them to Russia in the 1990s as part of negotiations to prevent nuclear proliferation.

Following Trump’s Return, Zelensky Agrees to Meet with Putin.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that he is now willing to meet with Russia’s President Vladimir Putin to end the conflict between their countries. Zelensky told British journalist Piers Morgan on Tuesday that he is willing to talk face-to-face with President Putin if that is “the only way to achieve peace for Ukrainians and not lose people.”

For the first time, Zelensky admitted Ukraine cannot recover the territory it has lost to Russia and that it is unwise to “lose millions of people in pursuit of a result that may not come.” He suggested Ukraine can pivot to using diplomatic and political strategies to restore Ukrainian control over lost territories.

According to Zelensky, around 45,000 Ukrainians have died in the war, which began in February of 2022, and around 390,000 have been wounded. He claims that Russian casualties amount to 350,000 killed and as many as 700,000 wounded. However, Russia estimates Ukrainian casualties of up to one million while treating its own losses as classified.

Russia has described Zelensky’s statements on negotiations with Putin as “empty.” Still, it says it is open to talks and that contact with the U.S. government has increased since President Donald J. Trump replaced Joe Biden.

Russia has refused to recognize Zelensky since his term as president ended in May last year. Due to Ukraine’s martial law, there have been no new elections.

THANKS, NEOCONS! Syria’s New President is an Al Qaeda Operative.

Ahmed al-Sharaa, until recently known by his nom de guerre, Abu Mohammad al-Julani, has declared himself interim President of Syria following the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad. Sharaa, leader of the al-Qaeda franchise Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), formerly al-Nusra, will lead a provisional legislative body that will function until a new constitution is established.

Before Assad’s ouster, HTS was a designated terrorist organization in the U.S., and Sharaa was a recognized terrorist with a $10 million government bounty on his head. The U.S. government’s Rewards for Justice website charged him with crimes, including kidnapping hundreds of Kurds and massacring villagers from Syria’s Druze religious minority.

However, U.S. efforts to bring Sharaa to justice were abandoned in the dying days of the Biden government, with Western media rebranding his organization as “diversity-friendly” jihadists.

The Sharaa government now claims the jihadist militias involved in ousting Assad have been disbanded. However, the reality is that they are being incorporated into, if not outright displacing, the official military.

Sections of Syria remain outside Sharaa’s control, including the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, or Rojava, long controlled by U.S.-backed Kurdish forces. However, it is likely that Turkey, which supported Sharaa’s offensive against Assad, will now move to destroy this administration.

KASSAM: Ukraine War Hawks Have Spilled ‘Rivers of Blood’ for Nothing.

The National Pulse’s Editor-in-Chief Raheem Kassam and War Room host Stephen K. Bannon discussed a leaked Ukraine peace plan on Tuesday, along with Kassam’s early reporting on Ukraine at the start of the Western-backed Euromaidan crisis. Describing the 2014 ouster of then-Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych by an armed mob after he chose a deal with Russia over a European Union (EU) association agreement as a “color revolution,” Bannon praised Kassam for having been among the first to realize Ukraine would become a significant geopolitical flashpoint.

“We’re a decade-plus into this whole process now,” Kassam said. “Here we are at the zenith of this conflict… and what has it amounted to?” he asked. “Rivers of blood running through Eastern Europe.”

Kassam stressed that the leaked peace plan suggests Russian gains will either remain de facto Russian-controlled or become buffer zones, noting such an outcome could have been achieved “without hundreds of thousands of deaths and impeaching Donald Trump.”

He chastised war hawks in the West for “waging wars with other people’s kids and other people’s money,” arguing their plans had been “eviscerated” not by Russian leader Vladimir Putin but by “God’s will.”

Bannon and Kassam agreed that the establishment should not be allowed to drag President Donald J. Trump down by tying him to an ongoing conflict in Ukraine, with the former arguing his administration should aim to secure a “ceasefire immediately and move on.”

Kassam predicted ending the suffering caused by the war would be President Trump’s main priority, with the America First leader having emphasized his desire to be remembered as a peacemaker in his inaugural address.

Trump’s Ukraine Peace Plan Leaked: 100-Day Strategy Unveiled.

Ukrainian media has leaked what is claimed to be President Donald J. Trump’s peace plan for the RussiaUkraine war, aiming for a ceasefire between the two countries by April 20. On Sunday, Strana, a Ukrainian media outlet, disclosed details of the supposed plan. However, other media outlets have not independently verified the authenticity of these details.

According to Strana’s report, the alleged plan includes initiating a phone call between Trump and Russia’s President Vladimir Putin, tentatively set for late January or early February. This would be followed by meetings with Putin and Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky in subsequent months, with a ceasefire planned by April 20.

The plan also suggests withdrawing Ukrainian forces from the Russian region of Kursk and initiating an international peace conference. The conference, which could involve global mediators, aims to broker a lasting peace framework by May 9.

Key components of the proposed agreement reportedly involve prohibiting Ukraine from joining NATO and having it declare a neutral stance, combined with European Union (EU) membership by 2030.

Additionally, Ukraine would continue to receive military support from the U.S. while refraining from reclaiming territories under Russian control. Meanwhile, a phased lifting of sanctions against Russia could occur over three years, contingent on adherence to the agreement.

Andriy Yermak, head of the Office of the Ukrainian President, dismissed the alleged plan, labeling it a fabrication. He suggested it might be Russian misinformation.

President Trump has vowed to end the conflict between the two countries and appears to have agreed with President Putin to meet and discuss the matter in the coming months. Trump has warned he is considering further sanctions against Russia if the country does not agree to work on a peace deal.

Zelensky Demands Deployment of US Troops to Ukraine to Deter Russia.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky claims that U.S.-led United Nations (UN) peacekeepers on the frontlines are critical to any cessation of hostilities with Russia. Speaking at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, Zelensky said he would welcome peacekeepers from other European nations but stressed that without a U.S. presence, Russia would likely invade his country again.

“It can’t be without the United States… Nobody will risk without the United States,” Zelelensky said. France’s President Emmanuel Macron is also pushing for the deployment of peacekeepers under a multinational command. For the last year, Macron has pushed for varying degrees of military intervention in the conflict—even considering the direct deployment of the French military to aid Ukraine.

Late last year, the far-left Labour government in the United Kingdom said it is considering sending British troops to Ukraine to serve as military advisors and train Ukrainian soldiers. “The UK will step up our international leadership on Ukraine throughout 2025,” British Defence Secretary John Healey said in December last year, adding: “We will enhance our offer of training to Ukraine and provide battle-winning capabilities.”

However, not all European nations are on board with sending a multinational peacekeeping force. Finland—one of NATO’s newest members—has balked at the idea. Last month, the Finnish President, Alexander Stubb, stressed his European colleagues “should not get ahead of ourselves” when contemplating troop deployments to Ukraine.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald J. Trump is turning up the pressure on Russia’s President Vladimir Putin to come to the negotiating table and end his country’s invasion of Ukraine. On Wednesday, Trump threatened to escalate the economic isolation of Russia through additional sanctions and tariffs unless Putin begins peace talks.

Carrot and Stick: Trump Offers Warm Words to Russian People, But Warns of Economic War Unless a Peace Deal Is Done ‘Soon.’

President Donald J. Trump has expressed his love and admiration for the Russian people but warned he wants a peace agreement ending the “ridiculous” war in Ukraine soon. He has made it clear that there will be a significant escalation of the economic warfare against Russia unless progress on peace is made.

“I’m not looking to hurt Russia. I love the Russian people, and always had a very good relationship with President Putin – and this despite the Radical Left’s Russia, Russia, Russia HOAX,” President Trump said in a statement published on his Truth Social platform.

“We must never forget that Russia helped us win the Second World War, losing almost 60,000,000 lives in the process,” he continued—referencing a point of pride and sometimes irritation for the Russian people, who believe their role in Second World War is often overlooked.

“All of that being said, I’m going to do Russia, whose Economy is failing, and President Putin, a very big FAVOR. Settle now, and STOP this ridiculous War! IT’S ONLY GOING TO GET WORSE,” Trump continued. “If we don’t make a ‘deal,’ and soon, I have no other choice but to put high levels of Taxes, Tariffs, and Sanctions on anything being sold by Russia to the United States, and various other participating countries,” he warned.

“Let’s get this war, which never would have started if I were President, over with! We can do it the easy way, or the hard way – and the easy way is always better. It’s time to ‘MAKE A DEAL.’ NO MORE LIVES SHOULD BE LOST!!!”

Economic action against Russia by Joe Biden and other Western leaders has so far proved ineffective. Trade statistics for former Soviet Socialist Republics in Central Asia strongly suggest exports to Russia are being routed through them, and much of the Russian energy once sold to Europe is now finding new markets in the likes of China and India.

However, President Trump’s reference to tariffs and sanctions on “various other participating countries” besides Russia suggests he may be contemplating a similar approach to the one used against Iran during his first term, with Russia’s trade partners as well as Russia itself being targeted. This strategy was highly effective against Iran, rapidly isolating it internationally.

UN Boss Credits Trump for Gaza Peace Deal.

United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has commended President Donald J. Trump’s pivotal role in achieving a ceasefire and hostage release agreement between Israel and Hamas. Speaking at the World Economic Forum (WEF) summit in Davos, Switzerland, Guterres stressed, “There was a large contribution of the robust diplomacy of the at-the-time President-elect of the United States.”

Trump envoy Steve Witkoff notably influenced the deal. Witkoff met with Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem and persuaded the Israeli leader to make crucial compromises. Arab officials described the meeting as “tense,” noting that Witkoff achieved more in this single session than now-former President Joe Biden did in a year.

Witkoff flew specifically to Israel for the critical meeting. His efforts underscore Trump’s proactive approach to conflict resolution. During his inaugural address on January 20, he vowed, “My proudest legacy will be that of a peacemaker and unifier, that’s what I want to be, a peacemaker and a unifier.”

Trump Criticizes Putin, Claims He Is ‘Destroying Russia.’

President Donald J. Trump delivered a forceful warning to Russia’s President Vladimir Putin on Monday while speaking with reporters in the Oval Office. Trump, who was inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States earlier in the day, said Putin is “destroying Russia” by continuing to wage war on Ukraine.

“He can’t be thrilled, he’s not doing so well,” President Trump said of Putin’s military campaign against Russia’s western neighbor. He continued: “Russia is bigger, they have more soldiers to lose, but that’s no way to run a country.”

While Trump’s Democratic Party opponents have tried to portray him as a Putin ally, the Republican President has a history of being blunt and firm-handed with the Russian leader. Additionally, following Trump’s landslide 2024 election victory, some Russian officials expressed reservations due to what they view as Trump’s unpredictability.

Despite U.S.-Russian tensions, Trump did indicate the possibility of a forthcoming conversation with Putin. On Tuesday, Yuri Ushakov, Putin’s adviser on foreign affairs, acknowledged the potential for dialogue. Ushakov noted that Russia was aware of Trump’s comments and expressed a willingness to discuss the ongoing conflict in Ukraine if the U.S. administration extended an invitation for talks.

“We are ready and open for dialogue with the new U.S. administration on the Ukraine conflict,” Ushakov remarked. He added that any overtures from Washington in this regard would be welcomed by Russia, signaling Moscow’s openness to negotiations.

Meanwhile, several hours before Trump’s inauguration, Putin strongly commended the new U.S. leader. Putin lauded Trump’s campaign efforts and election win as “courageous” and “convincing.”
