A group of Democratic lawmakers is urging major U.S. companies to retain their diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs. Led by Representative Robert Garcia (D-CA), a total of 49 House Democrats sent a letter to Fortune 1000 executives, pressing them to continue DEI programs despite consumer and shareholder backlash.
The letter follows announcements by companies including Ford, Harley-Davidson, John Deere, Lowe’s, and Molson Coors on scaling back DEI initiatives. American companies have cited numerous reasons for the shift away from DEI; however, in most cases, it appears to be due to either consumer boycotts, declining workplace productivity, or pressure from shareholders.
“Inclusion is a core American value, and a great business practice,” Rep. Garcia and his colleagues write. They claim: “By embracing this value, you create safer and fairer workplaces without sacrificing quality or financial success.”
While DEI policies are ostensibly intended to increase ‘inclusivity,’ the programs often result in increased discrimination based on race, gender, and sexual orientation. Relatedly, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in the summer of 2023 that the use of race-based college admissions criteria—known as affirmative action—violated the Constitution’s equal protection clause.
The shift in public and corporate opinion against DEI programs is also apparent in upcoming litigation. Marlean Ames, an Ohio woman, is suing the Ohio Department of Youth Services over reverse discrimination in a case that will be heard by the U.S. Supreme Court and likely decided in the summer of 2024. The case could have a substantive impact on the evidentiary bar needed to prove a member of a demographic majority has been discriminated against.

An Oregon state official is being placed on administrative leave following a complaint filed by a former Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) training staffer, who alleges the suspended official prioritized hiring based on qualifications over considerations of race and gender. Mike Shaw, the state’s deputy forester, is accused of ignoring DEI chief Megan Donecker’s demand that the hiring process incorporate an intersectional approach, which she claims would consider the historical oppression of candidates’ ancestors.
Donecker, a white woman who has since resigned from her DEI role in the forestry department, cited an environment where six “queer” employees reportedly felt unsafe due to a lack of discussion around personal pronouns. The DEI chief, who describes herself as an “accomplice to marginalized communities,” claims Shaw left her off of important meeting notices in an attempt to circumvent her attempts to change hiring practices.
She described Shaw’s stance on identity-based hiring as dismissive, likening his approach to “a speeding car on an icy road”—a metaphor suggesting potential recklessness in ignoring DEI principles. According to Donecker, Shaw replied to her icy road metaphor stating: “We don’t go 60 [mph] out of the gate, or we’re gonna crash the car.”
Shaw’s leave is part of an ongoing investigation into the complaint. Meanwhile, Donecker has transitioned to a new role with Oregon’s Department of Early Learning and Care, working as an “Equity Trainer” and “Education Coordinator.”
Numerous major American corporations have abandoned their DEI programs in recent months, driven by a combination of investor backlash and a drop in productivity among DEI hires.

The Biden-Harris Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) says it has temporarily suspended certain Hurricane Helene relief operations in several North Carolina communities due to perceived threats against federal aid workers. According to FEMA, federal disaster relief operations were halted in Rutherford County after the agency received reports from the National Guard that an “armed militia” was allegedly threatening relief workers.
“For the safety of our dedicated staff and the disaster survivors we are helping, FEMA has made some operational adjustments,” an agency spokesman said in astatement on Monday. They added: “Disaster Recovery Centers will continue to be open as scheduled, survivors continue to register for assistance, and we continue to help the people of North Carolina with their recovery.”
In addition to suspending operations in Rutherford County, several other localities near the North Carolina, Virginia, and Tennessee border claim they had to halt relief work due to threats from locals. According to Ashe County Sheriff Phil Howell, several relief centers where victims of Hurricane Helene could apply in person for assistance were closed “due to threats occurring in some counties.” No specific details regarding the type or seriousness of the “threats” were provided. Sheriff Howell stressed that residents impacted by the storm should “stay calm and steady during our recovery, help folks, and please don’t stir the pot.”
FEMA has received a bevy of criticism from both local residents and private citizens working to bring relief to those impacted by the deadly storm. The National Pulse previously reported that technology billionaire Elon Musk claims FEMA has been interfering with his efforts to provide emergency satellite Internet to the region to bolster communication access for residents.

The owner of TIME Magazine has slammed Vice President Kamala Harris for refusing to sit down for an interview and called for transparency from the Democratic presidential candidate. Marc Benioff expressed his concerns on X (formerly Twitter) over Harris’s refusal to grant an interview.
Benioff remarked, “Despite multiple requests, TIME has not been granted an interview with Kamala Harris—unlike every other presidential candidate. We believe in transparency and publish each interview in full. Why isn’t the VicePresident engaging with the public on the same level?”
TIME Magazine already interviewed President Donald J. Trump in April, and the Trump ticket, including Senator J.D. Vance, has made far more media appearances and interviews than Harris or her controversial running mate, Governor Tim Walz.
Last month, it was revealed that both Harris and Walz had only given five interviews in 59 days of campaigning, compared to the Trump campaign’s 73 interviews.
Harris has recently increased her media presence, including an appearance on the sexually explicit podcast ‘Call Her Daddy.’ On it, Harris revealed that she never had children of her own because she did not want to be “humble,” arguing that humility is a virtue that belongs to the “1950s.”
Despite engaging with some media, the Harris campaign appears to be losing steam in the vital last month before the presidential election. Betting markets are seeing Trump pulling away, while some pollsters are projecting Trump may win an Electoral College landslide.
The Harris campaign is expected to ramp up the negativity in the final stretch of the presidential race in a final effort to swing some voters, despite allegations that anti-Trump rhetoric has already inspired the two assassination attempts against him in recent months.

Vice President Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign has surpassed $1 billion in fundraising since its inception despite seemingly losing ground to President Donald J. Trump in several key swing states.
Fundraising began with a surge of donations following President Joe Biden’s announcement on July 21 that he was exiting the race. Harris’s campaign collected $81 million within a day, climbing to over $100 million by July 22.
In August, the campaign reported raising $361 million, escalating its fundraising total to over $615 million. September’s figures are yet to be disclosed. Official records of recent fundraising efforts are expected in mid-October.
In Pennsylvania, a pivotal state for both parties, Republican factions have invested approximately $222.5 million in presidential race advertisements.
Meanwhile, Democratic factions have spent slightly more, at $275.1 million. The Harris campaign intends to allocate further resources toward advertising and operational efforts, particularly in battleground states, over the approaching weeks.
The rapid pace of fundraising has given Harris’s campaign a financial edge over the Trump campaign, particularly evident in August, when Harris’s campaign raised $230 million more. As of now, the campaign holds over a $100 million advantage. The Trump campaign reported a September fundraising total of $160 million.
Despite the large amount of cash, the Harris campaign has been unable to move poll numbers substantially and meaningfully, and in recent days, Trump has been improving in many polls.
Betting markets, such as Betfair, Polymarket, and Bwin, now all put Trump ahead of Harris, with the betting average giving Trump a 52 percent chance of winning next month to 46.4 percent for Harris.
Swing state polling suggests that Trump could win at least 280electoral college votes, more than enough to meet the 270 required to win the presidency.

One of France’s most well-known populist-conservative politicians has formed a new party to strengthen and expand the populist-conservative right and create a national coalition. Marion Marechal, niece of populist National Assembly member and former presidential candidate Marine Le Pen, announced the formation of Identité Libertés (Identity Freedom) this week after she and several others won seats in the European Parliament earlier this year.
Marechal and several others were expelled from French conservative writer Eric Zemmour‘s Reconquest Party, which she stood for during the European elections, for proposing an alliance with Marine Le Pen’s National Rally (RN) during the subsequent snap national elections.
According to Marechal, the new party will stand against mass migration, Islamisation, and woke ideology in universities and schools. Noting the unstable situation in the French parliament, she argues that another snap election is likely and an early presidential election is even possible, calling for the right to unite under a broad coalition.
Marechal states that Marine Le Pen should lead any such coalition. Other conservatives, including Union of the Right for the Republic (UDR) leader Eric Ciotti, have also endorsed the idea.
“I am in favor of a right-wing policy, so all those who can contribute to this alliance naturally will be welcome,” said Ciotti, who until recently led the center-right Republicans.
Since the French legislative elections in July, President Emmanuel Macron has struggled to find a Prime Minister who a majority in parliament will support, as no single party or bloc of parties has a majority of seats.
His choice, former Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier, is expected to release a budget on Thursday, October 10. If not supported by Le Pen, Barnier’s time as Prime Minister could be over quickly, setting the stage for another snap election.

Polling data on the July general election in Britain reveals that most voters who voted for the Labour Party did so to get the Conservatives out of power, while those who voted for Nigel Farage’sReform Party did so because they actually believed in the party’s policies.
YouGov recently released the summer voter data, offering insight into the factors influencing voter behavior in the UK’s 2024 general election. Before the election, YouGov polls noted voters’ apathy toward the parties they intended to vote for. The post-election data confirms the trend, highlighting that many voters’ decisions were driven more by opposition to other parties than enthusiasm for their chosen party.
For Labour supporters, the predominant reason to vote was opposition to the Conservative Party, with 34 percent identifying this as their chief motivation. Just six percent expressed alignment with Labour’s election manifesto or policies.
Similarly, the primary reason Liberal Democrat voters chose their party was to oust the Conservatives.
Unlike other parties, Reform supporters’ leading reason was to control immigration, a key policy of the Farage-led party cited by 34 percent. Dislike for other parties ranked second, at nine percent.
Reform leader Nigel Farage introduced his campaign by calling for “net zero migration,” meaning that the number of people leaving and entering the country should be balanced.
Other polls have also shown Reform performed better among young voters than the Conservatives during the election. Young European voters are flocking to parties with anti-mass migration policies in several European countries, including Germany, France, and Austria.
The YouGov poll could partially explain Labour leader and Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer’s massive dip in popularity soon after entering office. Sixty-three percent of Britons now hold an unfavorable view of him.

Governor Tim Walz (D-MN) was caught advocating for the total eradication of America’s Electoral College, advocating for a national popular vote to decide presidential elections instead. Speaking at a campaign fundraising event hosted by Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA), Walz criticized the current electoral system, arguing it does not reflect the majority’s will. Walz’s comments come as his running mate, Vice President Kamala Harris, has lost ground to President Donald J. Trump in several critical swing states.
“I think all of us know the Electoral College needs to go,” Walz tolddonors at Newsom’s residence on Tuesday.”We need a national popular vote that is something. But that’s not the world we live in.”
The 2024 Democratic Party’s vice presidential nominee emphasized the need for change during separate fundraisers in California and Seattle, Washington. According to reports, Walz described himself as a “national popular vote guy” and lamented that the current political reality necessitates winning 270 electoral votes.
In recent history, both Hillary Clinton in 2016 and Al Gore in 2000 won the popular vote but did not garner enough Electoral College votes to win the White House.
The Electoral College system is designed to preserve the Republic as a union of States, in which the largest states cannot simply override the interests of smaller states by the weight of their populations. The eradication of the Electoral College would doubtless be an act of wanton constitutional vandalism, with its roots in the 1787 Constitutional Convention.
Responding to Walz’s statements, a spokesman for the Kamala Harris campaign emphasized the focus on securing the necessary electoral votes. Harris has refrained from endorsing any alterations to the Electoral College in the current campaign despite previous openness to the discussion in her first presidential run.
The Trump campaign criticized Walz’s position, questioning on social media why he appears to hate the Constitution.
Why does Tampon Tim hate the Constitution so much? He hates the First Amendment. He hates the Supreme Court. He hates the Electoral College.

A left-wing umbrella group that appears to be little more than a front for the Democratic Party’s own version of Project 2025 has spent several hundred thousand dollars on a digital and mail ad campaign promoting attacks on Project 2025 aimed at Generation Z voters.
United for Democracy, ostensibly a coalition of various progressive and Democrat-aligned activist organizations, is the group behind the ads and operates technically as a 501(c)4 not-for-profit organization.
The group is running digital ads and sponsoring political newsletters like POLITICO Playbook, directing individuals to the website “Project2025.wtf,” as well as driving advertising vans around the scarcely swing district of Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C.
“If MAGA extremists win this fall, they will pursue Project 2025 policies to gut the checks and balances that protect American Freedoms”, United for Democracy’s sponsored ad, appearing in Playbook, reads.
It continues: “You think the Courts will save us?! LOL. The six MAGA Supreme Court Justices are already implementing some of Project 2025’s worst ideas.”
CAMPAIGN AGAINST PROJECT 2025.
Formed in 2023, United for Democracy began as a campaign vehicle aimed at undermining the legitimacy of the U.S. Supreme Court. However, earlier this year it appears the organization shifted its activities to electioneering, with a specific focus on The Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025.
Since the start of June 2024, United for Democracy has spent just shy of $400,000 on digital and mail ads targeting Project 2025 in an effort to attack President Donald J. Trump’s bid to retake the White House. Federal Election Commission (FEC) records indicate that the group’s ad campaign has been developed and executed by Bully Pulpit International, a progressive marketing firm that has been active in European politics—especially in the United Kingdom, Belgium, and Germany.
The Project2025.wtf website, where the United for Democracy ads direct viewers, is a relatively simple scroll page featuring outlandish and false claims regarding The Heritage Foundation’s independent presidential transition project. While most of the messaging is focused on misleading claims regarding Trump’s abortion policies, the site also makes the absurd claim that Trump will round up documented immigrants and put them in camps.
THE LEFT’S PROJECT 2025.
While United for Democracy bills itself as a coalition of organizations, it has deep ties to the Democratic Party’s own version of Project 2025—the Center for American Progress (CAP). Stasha Rhodes, who serves as the group’s executive director, is a former CAP staffer who worked on gun control advocacy in 2017 and 2018. Earlier this year, she rejoined CAP as a senior fellow tasked with leading the progressive policy group’s democracy and government reform projects.
The Biden-Harris government’s agenda has—in large part—been directed by senior CAP staffers. Neera Tanden, who helped found CAP along with John Podesta and later succeeded him as the group’s leader, currently serves as the director of the Biden White House’s Domestic Policy Council. From 2021 until 2023, Tanden served as a senior advisor to President Biden.
Between 2021 and 2022, the Biden-Harris government hired at least 70 CAP staffers, and the organization is credited with being a powerful driver of the Democratic government’s agenda. Mirroring the political left’s attacks on Project 2025, CAP was billed by Time Magazine following the 2008 election as “Obama’s Idea Factory in Washington.”

Veteran journalist Bob Woodward reports that Joe Biden blames Barack Obama for the war in Ukraine, lamenting that their administration did nothing to stop Russia’s annexation of Crimea or the Russian separatist uprising in the Donbas following the Western-backed Euromaidan coup in 2014.
Woodward writes in his upcoming bookWar, which CNN has seen, that Biden believes “They fucked up in 2014,” referring to the Obama-Biden administration.
“That’s why we are here,” he told a friend of the full-scale war in Ukraine, which began in 2014. “We fucked it up. Barack never took [President Vladimir] Putin seriously.”
“We did nothing. We gave Putin a license to continue!” he continued angrily, insisting that he was “revoking [Putin’s] fucking license”—although two years on Russian forces are now steadily advancing, despite the U.S. and its allies spending billions of dollars arming and training the Ukrainian military and subsidizing the Ukrainian government and private sector.
NETANYAHU.
Woodward, who helped to break the Watergate scandal during the Richard Nixon administration, reports that Biden also regularly expresses fury with “That son of a bitch, Bibi Netanyahu.”
“He’s a bad guy. He’s a bad fucking guy!” Biden said of the Israeli prime minister privately. Israeli offensives into Gaza and Lebanon following the October 7 massacres of Israeli civilians by Hamas militants have badly damaged the standing of Biden and the Democratic Party among Arab and Muslim Americans, jeopardizing their electoral prospects in swing states like Michigan.
Biden said he “should never have picked” Attorney General Merrick Garland during a conversation over his son’s legal troubles.
The 81-year-old has also called Netanyahu a “fucking liar” and reportedly called him shouting, “Bibi, what the fuck?” after an Israeli airstrike in the Lebanese capital of Beirut killed a Hezbollah commander and three civilians in July.
Biden has received some sympathy on his various foreign policy disasters from George W. Bush, who reportedly called his Democrat successor saying, “I can understand what you’re going through, I got fucked by my intel people, too,” following the botched withdrawal from Afghanistan.
HUNTER.
Woodward also reports that Biden is privately angry with Attorney General Merrick Garland for allowing the investigations into his son, Hunter Biden, to escalate to their current point.
“Should never have picked Garland,” he reportedly told an associate, complaining: “This is never going to fucking go away.”
