The Qatari Foreign Ministry has responded to the attack, calling it a “criminal assault” and “blatant violation of all international laws and norms [that] poses a serious threat to the security and safety of Qataris and residents in Qatar.”

There appears to be no parallel effort to extract reparations from the Arab nations and Turkey, despite centuries of Islamic slavery, imperialism, and exploitation in North Africa and East Africa, stamped out largely throught the efforts of Britain and other Western countries.

The African Union is building on efforts by the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), which for over a decade has campaigned for reparations through its “10-point plan.” The plan includes calls for financial compensation, formal apologies, debt cancellation, investment in education and health, and the return of certain cultural artifacts. However, some are questioning the alliance between the African Union and CARICOM against Europe, considering many African nations profited immensely from selling people into slavery in the Caribbean and North and South America themselves.

In the United States, Democrat lawmakers also recently reintroduced a resolution calling for reparations for black Americans. The proposal calls for trillions of dollars in federal compensation to address racial disparities in wealth, education, health, and housing.

Meanwhile, Haiti has renewed its call for reparations from France, specifically for the 1825 indemnity it was forced to pay in exchange for its independence, following a violent revolution that saw most of the island’s white population slaughtered. Haitian leaders argue that symbolic and financial redress is still necessary to correct historical wrongs, despite having already received extensive assistance over many years.

While the event featured Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and North Korean autocrat Kim Jong-Un prominently—along with a military parade showcasing the Chinese military’s weaponry—a U.S. delegation was noticeably absent. This fact—despite the United States having played the preeminent role in the war’s Pacific theater—did not go unnoticed by U.S. President Donald J. Trump.

“The big question to be answered is whether or not President Xi of China will mention the massive amount of support and ‘blood’ that The United States of America gave to China in order to help it to secure its FREEDOM from a very unfriendly foreign invader,” President Trump wrote late Tuesday night in a post on Truth Social. “Many Americans died in China’s quest for Victory and Glory. In a 90-minute military parade, China showcased what it says is the latest in its military technology before 24 world leaders—mostly from former Soviet Socialist Republics and a handful of politically isolated nations like Iran. However, what the CCP hoped would be a global flex of its military prowess is being overshadowed by a hot mic moment where Xi and Putin, along with Kim Jong-Un, were discussing the use of organ transplants to prolong their lives to 150 years.

“Earlier, people rarely lived to 70, but these days at 70 years you’re still a child,” said Xi, 72, through a translator to Putin, also 72, as a smiling Kim walked next to them. Putin—also through a translator—responded to Xi, “With the development of biotechnology, human organs can be continuously transplanted, and people can live longer and longer, and even achieve immortality.”

“Predictions are, this century, there’s a chance of also living to 150,” Xi said, eliciting approving laughter from Putin and Kim.

The exchange is notable as Russia, North Korea, and especially China have all been accused of engaging in illicit organ harvesting, with allegations suggesting organs are sometimes taken by force from healthy young adults who are political dissidents or ethnic minorities. The stabbing spree has raised fresh concerns over public safety and national security across Europe, where a pattern of violent stabbings involving migrants and second-generation citizens born to migrant parents has emerged in recent years. For instance, in May 2025, twelve people were wounded, several critically, when a female suspect carried out a mass stabbing at Hamburg Central Station in Germany.

Other high-profile cases include a February 2025 stabbing in Villach, Austria, where a 23-year-old Syrian man killed a 14-year-old boy and injured five others. Authorities later discovered an Islamic State flag and a recorded pledge of allegiance to the jihadist group in the suspect’s apartment. In January 2025, an Afghan asylum seeker in Aschaffenburg, Germany, attacked a kindergarten group, killing one child and injuring several others, including a teacher and two passersby. That suspect had a criminal history and had previously been ordered deported.

In August 2024, three people were killed and eight wounded in Solingen, Germany, when a Syrian carried out a stabbing attack during a city festival. Authorities linked the attack to radical Islamist motives. Earlier, in January 2023, a stateless refugee originally from Gaza stabbed passengers aboard a regional train in Brokstedt, Germany, killing two people and injuring six more.

European crime data indicates that migrants are vastly overrepresented in violent and sexual crimes generally, not just Islamist attacks.

With local elections looming in Cologne, Germany, on September 14, all major political parties except the populist Alternative for Germany (AfD) have signed an agreement to avoid criticizing immigration or linking it to social issues like crime, unemployment, or public safety. Infamously, Cologne was the epicenter of a series of mass sex attacks by migrant mobs on New Year’s Eve 2015-16, with 650 sexual assaults reported in the city, including 22 rapes.

The so-called “fairness agreement,” organized by the Cologne Round Table for Integration, was signed by the Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s notionally right-wing Christian Democratic Union (CDU), the leftist Social Democratic Party (SPD), the far-left Greens, the neoliberal Free Democratic Party (FDP), the Left Party, Volt, and Die Partei. The pledge commits signatories to speak positively about migration and to avoid blaming refugees or migrants for any local problems, despite their proven link to increased sexual offending and other criminality.

The pact also includes promises to fight racism and anti-Semitism, with church officials tasked with monitoring compliance. Citizens have been encouraged to report candidates or campaigners who break the rules.

Notably, the populist Alternative for Germany (AfD) party was excluded from the agreement. Organizers stated the anti-mass migration party, currently the second-largest in Germany, “does not share their values.”

AfD Cologne spokesman Christer Cremer criticized the move: “I view this fairness agreement somewhat critically, because I believe it is intended to suppress debate. Especially during the election campaign, it must be possible to address all issues, including issues of migration.”

Political scientist Werner Patzelt echoed those concerns, calling the strategy “tactically stupid” and warning that it only boosts the AfD by erasing pressing concerns from the public discourse. “Our parties are so stupid that they don’t see the tactical disadvantage and are so weak-minded that they don’t see that they themselves are damaging our democracy by not wanting to talk about important issues,” he said.

Some signatories are already facing backlash. The CDU came under fire for allegedly violating the agreement after distributing a flyer opposing a planned refugee center in the Agnesviertel neighborhood. The controversy comes as the AfD continues to surge in national polling. A Forsa poll released August 12 shows the AfD leading nationwide with 26 percent, ahead of Chancellor Merz’s CDU/CSU bloc at 24 percent.

This rise in the AfD’s support comes amid growing debate over whether the populist party should even be allowed to participate in Germany’s democratic system. In October 2023, lawmakers began crafting legislation aimed at banning the party, claiming it threatens the country’s constitutional order. But the idea has sparked fierce opposition: a July 2025 survey by the Allensbach Institute found a majority of Germans, 52 percent, oppose banning the AfD, with only 27 percent in favor.

A decision on Serhii’s extradition is expected at a hearing on September 3, and he will remain in custody until then. Italy’s anti-terrorism prosecutors are also investigating a possible link between the Nord Stream attacks and the sinking of a Russian oil tanker off Savona in February.
