They also described Twiggs’s erratic behavior, such as creating “nests” of clutter in their apartment and experimenting with substances like LSD, magic mushrooms, DMT, and alcohol. The person noted that Twiggs’ relationship with his mother was strained, often leading to arguments followed by rants against Republicans and Mormons.

“FERPA” is the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and the remarks on the SFFA refer to the Supreme Court’s Students for Fair Admissions decision, which struck down race-based affirmative action admissions policies that disadvantage white and Asian students.

In a statement, Penn said that “a fraudulent e-mail is currently being circulated” and that its Office of Information Security’s Incident Response team is investigating the breach. The messages were reportedly sent to several alumni.

The incident mirrors other politically charged cyberattacks targeting major universities. Earlier this year, Columbia University faced a similar breach, during which a hacker claimed to have accessed decades of admissions data. Financial institutions and political vendors for Trump-aligned PACs were targeted with subpoenas, suggesting that Smith sought to establish monetary links between hundreds of consulting firms, advisors, and nonprofits that he could subsequently prosecute—presumably under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act—if he had secured a conviction against Trump.

The Senate Democrats’ government shutdown unleashed further travel chaos on Friday, with airports across the United States experiencing widespread delays and cancellations. As of 9 AM ET, FlightAware reported 787 delayed flights and 242 cancellations—likely setting off additional disruptions throughout the day.

On Thursday, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported that 7,250 flights were delayed and 1,249 were canceled nationwide. Airports in Orlando, Dallas/Fort Worth, and Washington, D.C. were particularly impacted by shortages of air traffic controllers, many of whom have been working without pay since the shutdown began on October 1.

The FAA’s Command Center has indicated that weather also remains a significant factor, with storms moving across the Northeast and expected to linger into Friday.
