Yesterday, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released a report showing that Obamacare enrollees are fleeing as fast as their premiums are skyrocketing.
The findings, which were announced in the 2017 Effectuated Enrollment Snapshot, are part of a growing stack of evidence revealing how much of a failure Barack Obama’s health care program is.
The report found that last year alone, over one quarter of enrollees left the program, followed by another 16 percent in the first three months of 2017.
The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) projected that enrollment in Obamacare would be 22 million in 2016. In reality, it started out at just 12.7 million at the beginning of the year and fell 28 percent over the course of the year, down to just 9.1 million — only 41 percent of the CBO’s prediction.
By January 31, 2017, 12.2 million people had selected a plan under Obamacare, but in less than two months, by March 15, nearly 2 million had already dropped out, bringing that number down to just 10.3 million.
The CMS noted that significant drops in enrollment are not a novel problem, but have been an issue ever since Obamacare’s beginning:
Looking historically at the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act trends from 2014 through 2017, we also see that a significant number of people who effectuate coverage, do not stay in their plans for the full year.
In a separate report, also released yesterday, CMS announced that nearly half of the participants who left the program from August 2016 to April 2017, left because of the cost:
Approximately 46 percent of consumers who canceled their coverage prior to paying first month’s premium cited cost as the reason for cancellation.
Nationwide, from 2013 to 2017 the average Obamacare monthly premiums have increased 105 percent, from $224 to $476. The cost doubled in 20 of the 39 states that have used the federal exchange program and tripled in three of them.
Even the federal government’s own numbers prove that Obamacare is a disaster. Already low enrollment numbers are dwindling even lower as premium costs skyrocket even higher. Millions of Americans have realized Obama’s mistake and are running as fast as they can away from this one of his many failed policies.
