Rick Santorum criticized Republicans for only playing defense and not offense, pointing to the Planned Parenthood battle as a prime example in an interview with Breitbart.

Santorum said he was “disappointed” and “ticked off” at the lack of will to fight among congressional GOP leadership, adding that “it seems like [they] look forward to surrender.”

He also brought up an excellent point: Establishment Republicans talk so much about attracting young voters, and they’re all too willing to give up their principles to do it. But here’s an issue — abortion — where the party is “actually in sync with young people, and we’re not willing to fight.” (As a 21 year old, I can attest to the popularity of the pro-life position among my generation.)

He continued, “The bottom line is that we’ve nominated two people in the last two elections that decided to play defense on the issue of abortion, life, marriage and what did it get us? We send someone out who can only play defense. Well, guess what? We’re not going to score any points and we’re not going to win any games, and that means you’re not going to win any elections.”
