These GOP Lawmakers Are Pushing Amnesty, ‘Dignity’ for Illegals.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: At least 11 GOP legislators are backing a de facto amnesty bill, The Dignity Act, which would increase immigrant inflows and grant multiple paths to amnesty for illegal immigrants.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Representative Maria Salazar (R-FL) is leading the effort, alongside other GOP House lawmakers and some Democrats.

📍WHEN & WHERE: The bill was announced on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, in Washington, D.C.

💬KEY QUOTE: “I don’t think that we should be arresting [illegal immigrants] who have been in the country more than five years, don’t have a criminal record, are good for the economy, and they are needed in construction, hospitality, and agricultural,” said Rep. Salazar.

🎯IMPACT: Critics argue the bill would harm American workers, weaken the GOP coalition, and benefit businesses relying on cheap foreign labor.

IN FULL

Representative Maria Salazar (R-FL) and at least 10 other GOP legislators are pushing The Dignity Act, a controversial immigration bill that includes multiple paths to amnesty for illegal immigrants. Despite Salazar’s denial of the term “amnesty,” the bill offers legal status to various immigrant populations, including individuals who have illegally voted in federal elections.

The bill also revives past proposals, such as President Joe Biden’s “Labor Neighbors” program and President George W. Bush’s 2001 “Any Willing Worker” plan, which would open the door to an unlimited influx of foreign workers. Among its provisions, the bill proposes creating immigration centers in Latin America and granting O visas to STEM PhD graduates from U.S. universities, allowing them to remain in the country.

Notably, Rep. Salazar’s legislation has cropped up several times in Congress, with a previous iteration, mostly backed by Democrats, being introduced in January this year. The National Pulse, at the time, provided a breakdown of the bill, which was then and is now tantamount to an amnesty measure.

Critics argue Salazar’s bill prioritizes business interests over American workers. It has drawn support from GOP lawmakers Don Bacon (R-NE), Mario Rafael Diaz-Balart (R-FL), Gabe Evans (R-CO), Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), Mike Kelly (R-PA), Young Kim (R-CA), Mike Lawler (R-NY), Dan Newhouse (R-WA), Marlin Stutzman (R-IN), and David Valadao (R-CA). A number of Democrats, including Veronica Escobar (D-TX) and Adriano Espaillat (D-NY), are also supporting.

However, pro-American legislators, including Rep. Brandon Gill (R-TX), are pushing back, denouncing the proposal as a “wage-cutting, coalition-breaking giveaway.”

Trump: ‘We’ve Got to Give the Farmers the People They Need’ — But No ‘Amnesty.’

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: President Donald J. Trump said he is not considering any form of “amnesty” for illegal immigrants, but that farmers must be given “the people they need.”

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: President Donald Trump, Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins, lawmakers on Capitol Hill, and agricultural and hospitality industry lobbyists.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Trump made his remarks on Tuesday, following statements earlier in the day from Agriculture Secretary Rollins.

💬KEY QUOTE: “We’ve got to give the farmers the people they need, but we’re not talking amnesty.” – Donald Trump

🎯IMPACT: The announcement reinforces the administration’s stance on immigration enforcement and pushes back against lobbying efforts for amnesty.

IN FULL

On Tuesday, President Donald J. Trump said that his administration will not entertain any “amnesty” deals for illegal immigrants, with mounting rumors that lawmakers on Capitol Hill—along with agricultural and hospitality industry lobbyists—are pursuing one. Both industries, in recent weeks, have ramped up political pressure for a carve-out to protect illegal immigrants in their respective workforces from ongoing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids across the country.

“We’ve got to give the farmers the people they need, but we’re not talking amnesty,” Trump said, echoing remarks by his Agriculture Secretary, Brooke Rollins, who stated earlier on Tuesday that, “[T]here will be no amnesty, the mass deportations continue but in a strategic way, and we move the workforce towards automation and 100 percent American participation.”

The comments come amid an ongoing debate within the Trump White House over how to address the agricultural and hospitality industries’ push for exceptions to the illegal immigrant crackdown. Notably, in mid-June, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued guidance resulting in a brief pause on immigration enforcement actions targeting farms and hotels. However, after public and internal White House backlash, the guidance was withdrawn just days later.

On Monday, The National Pulse reported that Republican state lawmakers in California authored a letter urging President Trump to direct ICE to end its “sweeping raids” against illegal immigrants and instead open “a path to legal status” for “non-criminal undocumented immigrants [sic].”

California Republicans Are Lobbying Trump to Give Illegal Immigrants Amnesty.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: Republican lawmakers in California sent a letter to President Donald J. Trump urging changes to immigration enforcement policies and advocating for a legal pathway for so-called “non-criminal undocumented immigrants [sic].”

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: The letter was signed by state Sen. Minority Leader Brian Jones, Sen. Suzette Valladares, and four other Republican lawmakers.

📍WHEN & WHERE: The letter was sent to the Trump White House in late June, and revealed publicly over the July 4 weekend.

💬KEY QUOTE: “America needs a system that reflects both compassion and lawfulness—one that upholds sovereignty while recognizing the reality on the ground,” the lawmakers claim.

🎯IMPACT: The letter highlights continued resistance to strong borders and mass deportations among some in the Republican Party, particularly those with close ties to industries enjoying cheap foreign labor.

IN FULL

A group of six Republican state lawmakers in California is demanding that President Donald J. Trump direct U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to end its “sweeping raids” against illegal immigrants and instead open “a path to legal status” for what they claim are “non-criminal undocumented immigrants [sic].” Notably, while unlawful entry into the United States only currently carries a civil penalty, under the U.S. Code, the act is still considered a criminal offense, meaning there are no actual “non-criminal undocumented immigrants.”

“We have heard from employers in our districts that recent ICE raids are not only targeting undocumented workers, but also creating widespread fear among other employees, including those with legal immigration status,” the group of six California Republicans claimed, adding: “We urge you to direct ICE and DHS to focus their enforcement operations on criminal immigrants, and when possible to avoid the kinds of sweeping raids that instill fear and disrupt the workplace.”

The letter’s signatories include California Senate Minority Leader Brian Jones (R), Sen. Suzette Valladares (R), Sen. Rosilicie Ochoa Bogh (R), Assembly Member Heath Flora (R), Assembly Member Diane Dixon (R), and Assembly Member Laurie Davies (R). Sen. Jones had previously introduced legislation that directed California state prisons and county jails to provide release dates for illegal immigrants convicted of serious felonies and other violent crimes to federal immigration authorities. However, the legislation failed to advance out of committee.

“America needs a system that reflects both compassion and lawfulness—one that upholds sovereignty while recognizing the reality on the ground,” the letter insists. The state lawmakers call on Trump and Congress to enact a pathway to legal status for so-called “non-criminal” illegal immigrants who supposedly have strong community ties. They also urge reforms to the H-2A and H-2B visa programs to authorize more legal guest workers across industries, alleging labor shortages in sectors such as construction, hospitality, and food processing—apparently preferring this to improving conditions to attract American workers.

According to the American Farm Bureau, the federal government previously authorized 384,900 H-2A temporary agriculture visas, while the H-2B visa program is capped at 66,000 annually. Notably, California’s latest jobs report found 1.1 million unemployed residents, with 659,000 job openings as of March 2025.

House Democrats Are Still Trying to Give Citizenship to 11 Million Illegals.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: Representative Maxwell Alejandro Frost (D-FL) is lobbying for a pathway to citizenship for all illegal immigrants in the U.S.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Representative Maxwell Frost, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA), Representative Brandon Gill (R-TX), and other lawmakers.

📍WHEN & WHERE: June 2025, at a press conference in Orlando, Florida.

💬KEY QUOTE: “I want to be clear, being undocumented [sic] is not a crime… Let’s document every single one of them with a speedy path to citizenship.” – Maxwell Frost

🎯IMPACT: The proposal has sparked backlash from Republican lawmakers, who have labeled it a “dangerous idea” and vowed to oppose it, and underlined Democrats’ ongoing support for open borders.

IN FULL

Democrat Representative Maxwell Frost (D-FL) has called for a pathway to citizenship for as many as 11 million illegal immigrants in the United States, stating that “we should document every single one of them.” Frost, the son of a Haitian migrant and a Lebanese-descended Puerto Rican, made the announcement during a press conference in Orlando, Florida, where he also unveiled the anti-deportation Stop Unlawful Detention and End Mistreatment Act (SUDEM) bill.

The SUDEM Act aims to provide detainees, their families, and legal representatives with detailed information about detention locations, reasons, and the legal authority behind each case, tying up federal immigration officials in red tape. Frost bizarrely claimed that being an illegal immigrant “is not a crime” and advocated for a “speedy path to citizenship” as a supposed solution to the issue of illegal immigrants in the U.S.

Republican lawmakers criticized the proposal, with Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA) describing it as “blanket amnesty” and a “dangerous idea.” Johnson stated on X (formerly Twitter), “We must defend common sense and the rule of law.” Texas Representative Brandon Gill also weighed in, accusing Democrats of pushing mass amnesty to “rig congressional apportionment in their favor.”

While Frost remains committed to advancing his legislation and plans to seek co-sponsors in Washington, D.C., the bill is unlikely to gain traction in the Republican-controlled House of Representatives. He has some support outside Congress, however, with far-left Late Show host Stephen Colbert inviting him on his show to promote the SUDEM bill and accuse ICE agents of kidnapping and human trafficking.

Immigration has been a key focus of President Donald J. Trump‘s policy agenda, with plans for increased border security, expanded deportations, and an end to federal benefits for illegal immigrants. Frost’s proposal comes amid heightened tensions over immigration enforcement, including violent protests and riots against recent ICE raids and legal challenges to the administration’s use of the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to expedite deportations.

TRUMP: Illegals Are ‘Very Good’ Farm, Hotel Workers, ‘We’ll Have an Order On That.’

PULSE POINTS:

❓ What Happened: President Donald J. Trump hinted at an executive order to shield illegal aliens working on farms and in hotels from deportation, sparking backlash from his America First base.

👥 Who’s Involved: President Donald J. Trump, farmers, hotel/leisure industry leaders, and MAGA supporters.

📍 Where & When: Announced on Truth Social and in press comments on June 12, 2025.

💬 Key Quote: “We can’t take farmers and take all their people and send them back because they don’t have, maybe, what they’re supposed to have [in terms of documentation],” Trump said.

⚠️ Impact: Trump’s potential amnesty move risks fracturing his America First coalition, clashing with promises of mass deportation.

IN FULL:

President Donald J. Trump has hinted that an executive order is in the works to protect illegal aliens working in the agriculture and leisure sectors from deportation, causing disquiet among the America First base. Writing on his Truth Social platform, Trump argued, “Our great Farmers and people in the Hotel and Leisure business have been stating that our very aggressive policy on immigration is taking very good, long time workers away from them, with those jobs being almost impossible to replace… This is not good. We must protect our Farmers, but get the CRIMINALS OUT OF THE USA. Changes are coming!”

The President subsequently doubled down on these sentiments in comments to the press, saying, “Our farmers are being hurt badly… You know, they have very good workers; they’ve worked for them for 20 years. They’re not citizens, but they’ve turned out to be, you know, great. And we’re going to have to do something about that.”

He insisted, “We can’t take farmers and take all their people and send them back because they don’t have, maybe, what they’re supposed to have [in terms of documentation], maybe not.”

“You go into a farm and you look… [The illegal alien workers have] been here for 20, 25 years, and they’ve worked great, and the owner of the farm loves them and everything else, and then you’re supposed to throw them out, and you know what happens? They end up hiring… the criminals that have come in, the murderers from prisons and everything else,” Trump continued.

“So, we’re going to have an order on that pretty soon, I think. We can’t do that to our farmers—and lesirue too, hotels; we’re going to have to use a lot of common sense on that.”

The announcement of what sounds like a potential amnesty is drawing backlash from the MAGA faithful, who expected a second Trump administration to at least attempt the mass deportations of all illegal aliens.

Many argue that bosses’ hunger for cheap, illegal workers has been one of the primary pull factors for illegal aliens, and they should not be rewarded by having their illegal labor forces regularized. Notably, data shows that easy access to such workers has reduced productivity by providing an unlimited pool of low-wage labor, making investment in automation and other efficiency measures unnecessary.

Biden-Harris Extend ‘Quiet Amnesty’ to Another Million Illegals.

A recent report from the House Judiciary Committee reveals that nearly one million illegal immigrants may remain in the United States indefinitely, with their cases dismissed or closed due to administrative measures by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Department of Justice (DOJ). Released Thursday, the report indicates that administrative actions during the Biden-Harris government have resulted in many cases being terminated without deportation proceedings.

The report, based on information given to the committee, indicates that over 700,000 cases have been dismissed or closed in immigration court under the current government. The DOJ’s Executive Office for Immigration Review reported over 109,000 cases were completed in Fiscal Year 2023 without a decision on the merits. Additionally, the DHS did not file necessary documentation for around 200,000 cases, allowing many individuals to remain indefinitely in the country.

In response to the substantial backlog of cases facing approximately 700 immigration judges nationwide, a 2022 DHS memo directed U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) attorneys to prioritize case closures and dismissals for non-security threats. Concurrently, a 2021 memo from Biden-Harris Attorney General Merrick Garland reinstated the use of administrative closure, focusing on high-priority cases. The House committee has criticized the measures, as they can result in some migrants living in the U.S. on an ongoing basis but uncertain about their legal status.

Kamala Backs Mass Amnesty for Illegals in Rambling Interview.

Vice President Kamala Harris is backing mass amnesty for illegal immigrants instead of mass deportations, which are supported by a majority of the American people. The immigration policy revelation came during a disjointed response by the 2024 Democrat Party presidential nominee to a question posed by Telemundo.

“Right now, we’re talking about border security and there’s nobody—no Democrat—talking about a pathway to citizenship, an immigration relief,” pressed Telemundo’s Julio Vaqueiro before Harris interjected: “I am!”

Vaqueiro continued, emphasizing Democrats are not talking enough about the “benefits migrants bring to this country.” At this point, Harris engages in one of her signature rambling, nonsensical interview answers.

“Oh, but there is no question that [pause] migrants bring. America is a country that is, was built, in part, by immigrants,” the vice president says, appearing confused by her own response. When pressed further by Vaqueiro regarding concerns among immigrants about mass deportations, Harris—becoming visibly frustrated and angry—says: “I’m not talking about other… Uh, we need smart, humane immigration policy in America that includes a pathway to citizenship.”

The Biden-Harris government has overseen an unprecedented surge in illegal immigration across the U.S. southern border in its nearly four years in power. Upwards of 20 million or more foreign nationals are believed to have entered the country illegally between 2021 and 2024, resulting in violent foreign criminal gangs—like Venezula’s Tren de Aragua—establishing themselves in numerous American cities.

The unchecked flow of illegal immigrants has resulted in several high-profile incidents where U.S. citizens were murdered by migrants who had been released into the country by the Biden-Harris government pending an immigration court date.

New Amnesty Plan for 500K Illegals.

As Europe continues to see illegal migrant arrivals in the thousands per month, the deputy leader of a country at the forefront of the migration crisis has called for half a million illegals to be granted amnesty and residency.

Spanish Deputy Prime Minister Yolanda Diaz has demanded that 500,000 illegal immigrants be granted the ability to stay in her country, saying that there is a need to regularize illegal migrant workers, arguing that they currently do not have proper labor rights.

Diaz, who also serves as Minister of Labor under leftist Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, has called for immediate action.

The comments are largely in support of a citizens’ legislative initiative that calls on the government to grant amnesty to illegals who lived in Spain prior to November 1, 2021. The initiative garnered 700,000 signatures and the support of 900 NGOs.

Amnesty for illegal workers has broad support within the Spanish parliament, with only the populist party VOX stating opposition to it, as the party argues that it will only attract more people to Spain illegally.

Earlier this year, the party argued that Spain must not become like the UK, France, or Belgium, which is described as a failure of multiculturalism.

The amnesty would also come as Spain is seeing a massive surge in illegal migrant arrivals this year, up 143 percent in the Spanish African enclave Ceuta and 126 percent in the Spanish Canary Islands that lie off the West African coast.

The Canary Islands recorded 22,304 irregular arrivals from January to mid-August, as migrants are increasingly favoring the route to Spain over the central Mediterranean route to Italy this year.

LAWSUIT: Biden-Harris Push Mass Amnesty for Over a MILLION Illegals.

A lawsuit filed by 16 state Attorneys General is aiming to block a Biden-Harris plan to grant amnesty to potentially over one million illegal immigrants. Led by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) and Idaho Attorney General Raúl Labrador, the filing asks a federal court to issue a temporary restraining order against the Biden-Harris Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Parole in Place (PIP) Program, which would allow some illegal immigrants to adjust their legal status in contravention of existing law.

Under current U.S. federal law, illegal immigrants already present in the United States are not allowed to adjust their status to being a Lawful Permanent Resident—though there are some exceptions to this rule. However, under the PIP, the Biden-Harris DHS is claiming the “urgent humanitarian reasons or significant public benefit” exception to circumvent U.S. immigration law.

The coalition of state Attorneys General claims that the Biden-Harris government is abusing the humanitarian exception in instituting the PIP program. They contend that federal law is specific regarding what qualifies as a humanitarian exception and that DHS “cannot use that power to parole aliens en masse.” Additionally, the lawsuit argues that DHS parole power only applies to immigrants seeking to enter the United States and not those already present in the country illegally.

“Under Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, the federal government is actively working to turn the United States into a nation without borders and a country without laws,” said Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in a statement announcing the lawsuit.

Paxton added: “Biden’s new parole workaround unilaterally grants the opportunity for citizenship to unvetted aliens whose first act on American soil was to break our laws. This violates the Constitution and actively worsens the illegal immigration disaster that is hurting Texas and our country.”

Mass-Amnesty for Illegals is Coming.

Joe Biden is reportedly planning an executive order that would give amnesty to hundreds of thousands of people who entered the United States illegally.

The details: CBS News reports that the Biden regime is planning to “unlock temporary legal status and potentially a path to American citizenship for hundreds of thousands of [illegal] immigrants living in the U.S. illegally,” according to five people familiar with the White House discussions.

The mechanics: Under this mass amnesty order, Biden would use a policy called “parole in place” to give the illegals work permits and protect them from deportation as long as they have spouses who are American citizens.

  • They could also become eligible for permanent U.S. residency and even citizenship.

The sources for this CBS News report are two current U.S. officials, two former officials, and a congressional official—all of whom spoke anonymously.

What do Americans think? A brand new CBS News poll found that 62 percent of Americans agree with Donald Trump’s proposed policy to deport every single illegal alien.

Big picture: These plans come as Biden’s approval hovers at an all-time low, fueled by the American public’s rejection of his failed open border policies.
