Former British Prime Minister Sir Tony Blair will not hold a leading position on a proposed Gaza peace council, following strong objections from Arab states. Blair had been closely linked to a plan supported by U.S. President Donald J. Trump to rebuild Gaza following years of conflict.

Arab leaders expressed deep resentment over Blair’s role in orchestrating the 2003 U.S.-led invasion of Iraq, which has left lasting scars in the region. Blair’s only supporters appear to have been the United States and Israel. The backlash has resulted in Blair being quietly sidelined and dropped from consideration for the top role in overseeing Gaza‘s reconstruction.

However, it is expected that Blair will retain a peripheral role in the peace process. President Trump has previously sought to have Blair head the proposed council, but sought buy-in from regional leaders. “I liked Blair, but I want to make sure he’s acceptable to all parties in the peace process,” Trump stated, signaling his willingness to adapt to regional concerns over Blair’s involvement.

In September, President Trump unveiled a 20-point peace plan ending the war in the Gaza Strip, proposing a transitional governance system and conditions for peace. While both Israel and Hamas agreed to the terms, the process of winding down the conflict has not been entirely smooth. Both Israel and Hamas have renewed hostilities for brief periods since September, but as of now, the peace process continues.

The 20-point proposal includes a transitional governance system for Gaza, managed by a technocratic, apolitical Palestinian committee. This body would oversee public services and redevelopment efforts until the Palestinian Authority is prepared to assume control. This would be supervised by a “Board of Peace” chaired by President Trump and included Blair.

NO-GO ZONES: Police Chief Advises Jews, Gays to Conceal Identity.

The head of police has warned Jews and homosexuals to hide their identities in neighborhoods in Berlin, Germany, with large Arab populations who may be sympathetic to terrorist groups. Berlin Police Chief Barbara Slowik highlighted concerns over areas predominantly inhabited by people of Arab heritage who may have sympathies with anti-Israel groups.

The statement follows an altercation involving pro-Palestinian protesters and Israeli football fans in Berlin’s Neukölln district, which has a significant population of people from migrant backgrounds. The incident occurred during an under-17 match involving the Makkabi Berlin youth team, where threats were made with knives and sticks.

Neukölln is also noted for its pro-LGBT nightlife. There have been reports of attacks on gay couples in the area.

Earlier this year, reports indicated that antisemitic incidents in Berlin had hit record levels, increasing by 50 percent in 2023.

In the Netherlands, Israeli football fans faced violence in Amsterdam recently following a match between Maccabi Tel Aviv and Ajax. Anti-Jewish violence erupted on the streets, mirroring the tensions seen in Berlin. Firebrand Dutch populist lawmaker Geert Wilders likened the scenes to a “pogrom,” saying, “We have become the Gaza of Europe. Muslims with Palestinian flags hunting down Jews. I will NOT accept that. NEVER.”

Amid these incidents, Israelis traveling abroad have been advised to avoid disclosing their identity, particularly when visiting countries with significant Muslim migrant populations.

Raheem Kassam, Editor-in-Chief of The National Pulse, warned in his 2017 book No Go Zones that areas were emerging in Europe—and even America—under de facto Sharia law, with outsiders menaced by locals and law enforcement increasingly beholden to “community leaders” to do their jobs.

NO GO ZONE: San Fran Arab Bakery Won’t Serve Cops.

An “Arab bakery” in San Francisco, California has declared a policy of not serving anyone who is armed – including police officers.

Reem’s California turned away a policeman who was in uniform, prompting the San Francisco Police Officers Association to post on social media that Reem’s has a “bigoted policy” of “NO COPS ALLOWED”.

The bakery chain later issued a statement on Instagram, saying that their policy is aimed at creating a safe space: “In a time of increasing gun violence – particularly impacting people of color, youth, and queer people – we believe that maintaining a strict policy of prohibiting guns in our restaurant keeps us safer,” they wrote.

“At Reem’s, we aim to provide a space where people can eat delicious Arab food and work together to strengthen our community, without fear of violence or harassment.”

The bakery is currently closed, but says it “can”t wait to reopen our doors very soon and provide the sanctuary space you all deserve.”
