Could Donald Trump Be Speaker of the House?

At least three Republican Members of Congress have voiced their intent to back former President Donald Trump for Speaker of the House. Rep. Troy Nehls (R-TX) said Tuesday he will nominate Trump for the Speakership. Reps. Marjorie Taylor-Greene (R-GA) and Greg Steube (R-FL) both said they would support the nomination.

Trump, the presumed 2024 Republican nominee for President, appears to be open to serving as Speaker of the House for a short period of time while a more permanent replacement is decided upon – though he has emphasized he is focused on defeating Democrat Joe Biden and retaking the White House. In a post on Truth Social, Trump pledged to “…do whatever is necessary to help with the Speaker of the House selection process…” and ensure the selection is a “…Speaker who will help a new, but highly experienced President, ME, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

A Trump nomination for Speaker faces two potential obstacles besides the task of securing a 218 vote majority in the House of Representatives – something every Speaker nominee will face. First is the question of whether or not a non-member of the House of Representatives can serve as Speaker. Article 1, Section 2 of the U.S. Constitution states: “The House of Representatives shall choose their Speaker and other Officers; and shall have the sole Power of Impeachment.” It does not specify the Speaker has to be an elected member serving in the legislative body – meaning, in theory at least, a private citizen could be chosen. This is the view held by the government’s Congressional Research Service as no other officers of the House elected along side the Speaker are required to be members either.

Not all constitutional scholars agree with this interpretation however. The prior clauses in Article 1, Section 2 detail the precise requirements to serve as a member of the House or Senate and the procedure for electing members of either legislative body. Some argue these clauses govern all subsequent clauses in this section, meaning the Speaker must be a member of the House. Additionally, the first meeting of the United States Congress adopted rules requiring the Speaker to cast tie-breaking votes – and only elected-members of Congress can vote. Lastly, scholars note the Presidential Succession Act of 1947 specifically recognizes the Speaker as being an elected Representative in the House.

The last hurdle for a Donald Trump nomination for Speaker are two provisions in Conference Rules adopted by House Republicans at the start of this year. Rule 26 states any “….member of the Republican Leadership shall step aside if indicted for a felony for which a sentence of two or more years imprisonment may be imposed.” The Speaker is listed as a member of Republican leadership under Rule 2.

While the Republican Conference rules could simply be amended, it may not be necessary. The Speaker of the House, unlike other leadership positions, is enumerated as an officer of the House specifically by the Constitution, likely meaning any Conference restrictions – and punishments – regarding the Speakership could only be enforced against members who supported a candidate in violation of the rules and not the Speaker themselves.

So could Donald Trump be Speaker? Unfortunately the answer might have to be: we’ll see.

DOJ Claims Trump Casually Described Extremely Specific Details of Submarines to Mar a Lago Guests.

Former President Donald Trump allegedly shared sensitive and extremely specific details regarding U.S. nuclear submarines with  Australian billionaire Anthony Pratt, according to a scarcely believable leak from Department of Justice (DOJ) special counsel Jack Smith‘s investigation team.

Smith’s investigation claims during an April 2021 meeting at Mar-a-Lago the former President disclosed to Pratt the exact number of number of nuclear warheads typically carried by U.S. submarines and “…exactly how close they supposedly can get to a Russian submarine without being detected.”

The leak, according to the corporate media, purports the information shared was ‘sensitive’, though as usual, there is no indication it was actually true, accurate, or even considered classified. Details regarding the U.S. Navy’s nuclear assets are published by the corporate media with some degree of frequency. A January 2022 report from CNN stated the USS Nevada, an Ohio-class nuclear submarine, was “carrying 20 Trident ballistic missiles and dozens of nuclear warheads” while at port in Guam.  The U.S. Department of Defense website lists the specific model of ballistic missile Ohio-class nuclear submarines carry and the days-at-sea they can undertake before needing maintenance. ABC News reported in 2022 the Ohio-class strike range was 4,000 miles.

This isn’t the first time that Department of Justice sources have leaked details regarding ongoing investigations to the media in an effort to create a narrative favorable to the Biden White House. ABC News reported last week DOJ sources indicated the investigation into President Biden’s handling of classified documents would conclude his actions were “more likely a mistake than a criminal act.” The corporate media network was also the first to report on Smith’s allegations that Trump had shared sensitive information regarding U.S. nuclear submarines.

NYT, MSNBC Freak Out Over Trump-Kassam Interview After Far-Left Complaints.

The New York Times, MSNBC, and Snopes are collectively freaking out over The National Pulse’s interview with former President Donald Trump, declaring his rhetoric over the U.S. southern border to be Hitlerian, and bemoaning his complaint over the amount of communicable disease and numbers of deadly drugs pouring into America.

MSNBC’s resident Islamic extremist, Mehdi Hasan, took to X (formerly Twitter) to cry about Trump’s rhetoric. Hasan, however, has previously called non-Muslims “cattle” and “animals” in video first popularized by National Pulse editor Raheem Kassam, over a decade ago.

The New York Times and Snopes quickly followed Hasan’s lead, with the grey lady – itself owned by a slave-owning family which promoted Hitler during the 1930s – declaring: “Trump Escalates Anti-Immigrant Rhetoric With ‘Poisoning the Blood’ Comment”.

Mr. Trump made the remark in a 37-minute video interview with The National Pulse, a right-leaning website, that was posted last week. It drew broader scrutiny on Wednesday after the liberal MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan surfaced the quote in a post on X.

– New York Times, October, 2023.

President Trump’s comments, however, related directly to the mass importation of killer drugs like fentanyl, as well as communicable disease coming over the U.S. southern border – a fact that Snopes attempted to skirt.

Hitler’s comments – presumably still available via the New York Times’s own archives – referred to Jewish journalists, not drugs or disease:

And so this poison was allowed to enter the national bloodstream and infect public life without the Government taking any effectual measures to master the course of the disease.

– Adolf Hitler, Mein Kampf.

The three news outlets, as well as the Islamist Mehdi Hasan, appeared to take their lead from the far-left Meidas Touch website, which first made the false comparison under the byline ‘J.D. Wolf’. Meidas Touch is a Democrat-linked political action committee, not a news or research service. The site’s contributors include mostly far-left, openly ‘anti-Trump’ activists who masquerade as journalists.

Trump Endorses Jim Jordan for Speaker, But Will Do the Job Himself ‘If Necessary’.

Donald Trump has given Rep. Jim Jordan his “complete and total endorsement” for Speaker of the House of Representatives following the ceremonious ouster of Kevin McCarthy. The 45th President claims he would also be willing to step in himself on a temporary basis if necessary.

The former president said Jordan, who leads House Freedom Caucus and chairs the House Judiciary Committee and Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, was strong on borders, crime, gun rights, and veterans, and would be a “GREAT” speaker.

If House Republicans are unable to select a speaker from among their own ranks, however, he has signaled he is ready to answer calls from some members that he fill the role himself.

“I have been asked to speak as a unifier because I have so many friends in Congress,” Trump said. “If they don’t get the votes, they have asked me if I would consider taking the speakership until they get somebody longer-term, because I am running for president,” he explained.

“They have asked me if I would take it for a short period of time for the party, until they come to a conclusion – I’m not doing it because I want to – I will do it if necessary, should they not be able to make their decision,” he added.

Rep. Matt Gaetz has previously endorsed Trump for the role, and Gaetz’s erstwhile ally Marjorie Taylor Greene – though she backed McCarthy – has also urged the former president to take up the gavel, saying the House of Representatives would become “the House of MAGA”.

The FBI Is Monitoring MAGA Supporters In The Run-Up To 2024.

The Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) is weaponizing its resources to monitor supporters of former President Donald Trump, even creating a “distinct category of domestic violent terrorists” to target MAGA loyalists based on their political views.

After January 6th, the FBI changed its definition of “anti-government, anti-authority violent extremism,” known as AGAAVE from the attempt to further “ideological agendas” to “furtherance of political and/or social agendas,” which allowed Trump supporters to be labeled a potential domestic terrorist threat due to their politics alone.

The FBI then went further by creating AGAAVE-other to target those considered a threat but did not fall within the definition of its anarchist, militia, or Sovereign Citizen groups. The alteration was implemented without a formal announcement in October 2022 and was given the vague definition of “domestic violent extremists who cite anti-government or anti-authority motivations for violence or criminal activity not otherwise defined…”

Although the FBI does not specifically mention MAGA in its definition, government insiders accept the category predominantly targets Trump’s base. “[I]n practical terms, it refers to MAGA, though the carefully constructed language is wholly nonpartisan,” stated an anonymous FBI officer.

The definition is so broad that a senior intelligence officer at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence said they were unsure whether it applied to a few thousand proud boys or 30 percent of the country’s electorate. “I don’t know the answer, and I can assure you the answer isn’t in any secret intelligence that the government possesses,” the officer explains.

The number of FBI domestic violent extremism investigations is skyrocketing as a result, with approximately 2,700 ongoing cases at the end of 2022: double that of spring 2020. The total number of domestic terrorism investigations is now more than 9,000, with the main target being Trump supporters.

The FBI’s clamp down on the MAGA movement is not isolated; the Department of Homeland Security and the White House are similarly working to quash it. Christopher Costa, a former White House head of counterterrorism, claims the government’s overriding aim is to focus the weight of the law on the anti-government terrorist threat from, what he calls, “a small percentage of misguided fellow Americans.”

Another senior intelligence official describes the general contempt in and around Washington for Trump and his supporters going into the 2024 presidential election: “Trump’s army constitutes the greatest threat of violence domestically… politically… that’s the reality and the problem set.”

Biden Govt Admits Trump Was Right, Allows Border Wall Construction to Resume.

The Biden government has publicly announced it will allow the resumption of President Donald Trump’s policy of building a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border to deter the thousands of illegal migrants entering the United States, representing a huge win for the 45th President‘s immigration policy.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) even waived 26 federal laws, regulations, and other legal requirements, including the Clean Air Act and the Safe Drinking Water Act, to ensure “the expeditious construction of barriers and roads” in Starr County, Texas, which has experienced nearly 250,000 illegal migrants crossing into its territory this fiscal year.

U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas, explained upon the policy’s announcement, “There is presently an acute and immediate need to construct physical barriers and roads in the vicinity of the border of the United States in order to prevent unlawful entries into the United States in the project areas.”

The decision openly contradicts President Biden’s own claims that building a border wall across the entire southern border was “not a serious policy solution.” In 2020, Biden declared: “There will not be another foot of wall constructed on my administration.” Worse still, the Biden government began selling off $300 million worth of material intended for Trump’s wall at a 99 percent discount over the past several months.

With an election looming and the border crisis spiraling with even pro-sanctuary Democrats in Illinois and New York complaining to Biden that they cannot cope with the influx, the construction of at least some border wall is an example of some of the belated, limited action the White House is taking.

DeSantis’s Raised Just $5M in Q3, Down from $20M in Q2.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’s fundraising woes continued last quarter with his campaign committee only raising $5 million for the Republican presidential primary contest. An additional $10 million the campaign committee says it raised can only be used for the 2024 general election according to U.S. campaign finance laws. DeSantis’s third quarter fundraising fell well below his second quarter haul of $20 million.

The cash-strapped campaign committee told staff at it’s Tallahassee, Florida headquarters on Wednesday roughly a third of them would be relocated to Iowa. Just over three months away, the Iowa caucuses are a make-or-break primary contest for DeSantis who currently has just $13.5 million cash-on-hand. The campaign believes either winning the Hawkeye state – or finishing with a strong second – will spark the momentum and donors they’ll need to defeat former President Donald Trump, the GOP front-runner.

In Iowa, pro-DeSantis SuperPAC Never Back Down has taken on many of the traditional roles associated with a presidential campaign committee. Campaign functions like bus tours, candidate events, and the entire political ad operation have for the most part been run through the SuperPAC. In addition, the Never Back Down has invested $25 million in a mass text messaging campaign powered by artificial intelligence as a cheaper, but unproven, alternative to television and radio ads. The DeSantis presidential campaign committee, on-the-other-hand, has yet to air even a single television ad.

A poll conducted by the DeSantis campaign’s pollster, Public Opinion Strategies, at the end of September showed Donald Trump leading Iowa with 50 percent – a 31 point advantage over DeSantis who was in a distant second at 19 percent.

EXC: Trump Says Biden Can’t ‘Get to the Starting Gate’… ‘He Can’t Even Speak.’

Donald Trump does not believe he will be running against Joe Biden in 2024, with the incumbent’s incompetence and frequent verbal stumbles becoming ever more frequent and ever more likely to force him from the presidential contest as time wears on.

“I don’t imagine he gets to the starting gate,” Trump said of 80-year-old Biden in an exclusive interview with The National Pulse, noting the Democrat “can’t put two sentences together” and has managed to rehabilitate Jimmy Carter by surpassing him as “worst President in history.”

Trump further predicted there “will be a fight” for the Democratic nomination, with Vice President Kamala Harris denied a seamless coronation.

“A lot of people are so afraid to go against her [but] I don’t think it gets handed [to her],” he said. “I think all of a sudden everybody would start jumping in. She’d have to earn it, [and] it would be very hard [for her] to earn.”

The former president said he did not see Michelle Obama stepping in, naming Gavin Newsom, the California Governor, as a probable contender.

“Look, the man’s obviously incompetent. He can’t even speak,” he said of Biden. “The man is grossly incompetent.”

Dems in Panic As Party Fails To Hit Its Own Diversity Targets.

Democrat officials are increasingly concerned the party is unable to meet its own stringent diversity standards and targets, supposedly running the risk of next summer’s convention delegates being “too white” when the party nominee for the 2024 presidential election is chosen.

The Democrat National Committee (DNC) sets its diversity targets by accounting for eligible voters from almost all identities other than white people. Their targets include black Americans, Latinos, Asians, Pacific Islanders, Native Americans, LGBT people, young voters, and those with disabilities. The committee then calculates what the right amount should be from each group, with the figure varying from state to state.

The party often sets targets at far higher rates than what is proportionate to the population, such as in California, where the diversity target for black voters is 12 percent despite black Americans comprising just six and a half percent of the Golden State’s inhabitants.

“I keep looking at these diversity goals in big states like New York, like California. And, for some reason, whether it’s the African American community, Black community, the LGBTQ+ community, or Hispanic community, [the] numbers continue to decrease,” stated Democrat strategist Donna Brazile at a recent committee meeting in Washington D.C.

Former Hillary Clinton campaign staffer Maria Cardona expressed similar concern, explaining, “this number seems to be going in the wrong direction here.”

Officials fear that the lack of diversity reflects the collapse in support among minority groups for Joe Biden, with many getting behind former President Donald Trump.

Indeed, President Biden has witnessed a near 20-point drop in support from the black community and Latinos, whereas Trump has seen his support among black voters jump from eight to 20 percent since 2020.

Kev-OUT! Gaetz Ousts McCarthy From Speakership.

Representative Matt Gaetz (R-FL) successfully ousted Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) as Speaker of the House. The motion to vacate by Gaetz comes in response to the House passing a temporary government funding measure – without the spending cuts or border funding pushed for by conservative members – after McCarthy allowed a vote on the floor. In addition, Gaetz has accused McCarthy of having cut a secret side deal on Ukraine funding with President Joe Biden and Congressional Democrats.

Following the vote the designated Speaker pro tempore moved to adjourn the House. Republicans will now caucus and begin the process of determining who they will nominate to be serve as the new Speaker. House rules do not prohibit McCarthy from being renominated for the Speakership. Republican Reps. Ken Buck, Byron Donalds, Tom Emmer, Steve Scalise, Jim Jordan, Mike Johnson, and Jodey Arrington have all been floated as potential candidates for Speaker. In theory the Speaker does not have to be a Member of Congress, leading a few House conservatives to pitch the idea of naming former Donald Trump as Speaker.

After Republicans retook the majority in the House of Representatives following the 2022 mid-term elections, it took 15 rounds of voting for McCarthy to successfully win the Speakership. The California Republican was only able to secure a majority of votes after making several critical concessions to House conservatives. House leadership’s violations of those concessions is what partially fueled the vote for McCarthy’s ouster.
