Fired USAID Staff Are Forming a Resistance Movement Against Trump.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: A group of fired United States Agency for International Development (USAID) staff is reportedly organizing resistance efforts against Trump.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Former USAID workers, Ro Tucci, and the Trump administration.

📍WHEN & WHERE: The resistance efforts began after the Trump White House shuttered USAID earlier this year, with the operation revealed on July 7, 2025.

💬KEY QUOTE: “You just released a bunch of well-trained individuals into your population,” a current federal official boasted.

🎯IMPACT: The operation suggests a resistance effort among federal workers, similar to the one seen during Trump’s first term, is gaining some traction. It also indicates that the administration was correct in suspecting that certain officials would have undermined it if they had been left in place. Actions taken by the Trump White House to implement significant federal workforce reductions and remove career employees from policy-sensitive roles are likely to lessen the impact of any “resistance” efforts.

IN FULL

A group of recently fired United States Agency for International Development (USAID) staffers, along with other government employees, is reportedly organizing a resistance against the Trump administration. The former federal employees boast that they intend to utilize their experience in working around the world against authoritarian regimes to build their efforts, appearing to suggest the foreign aid agency was, as many suspected, active in foreign ‘color revolutions.’

“Take it from those of us who worked in authoritarian countries: We’ve become one,” a current federal government employee stated, adding what could be interpreted as a political threat: “They were so quick to disband AID, the group that supposedly instigates color revolutions. But they’ve done a very foolish thing. You just released a bunch of well-trained individuals into your population. If you kept our offices going and had us play solitaire in the office, it might have been safer to keep your regime.”

Reminiscent of ‘resistance’ efforts during President Donald J. Trump‘s first term, the former USAID staffers claim they are organizing training sessions on “noncooperation,” a tactic aimed at slowing the advance of the Trump White House’s policy agenda. The group even believes their efforts could culminate in a nationwide general strike.

Among the resources being used in these training sessions is an old Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) handbook, which instructs readers on how to conduct acts of sabotage. “Widespread practice of simple sabotage will harass and demoralize enemy administrators and police,” the intelligence agency manual states, adding: “The saboteur may have to reverse his thinking… where he formerly thought of keeping his tools sharp, he should now let them grow dull; surfaces that formerly were lubricated now should be sanded; normally diligent, he should now be lazy and careless.”

While a number of the individuals and groups leading the resistance efforts have managed to remain anonymous, DemocracyAID has been identified as an organizer of invite-only anti-Trump resistance training sessions for federal employees. The group is co-led by Ro Tucci, who previously served as director of the USAID Center for Democracy, and its training sessions thus far primarily focus on simple acts of defiance, such as how to use office socializing to identify allies and how to conduct work slowdowns.

However, the Trump White House appears to be well aware of the resistance efforts. “It is inherently undemocratic for unelected bureaucrats to undermine the duly elected President of the United States and the agenda he was given a mandate to implement,” Deputy White House press secretary Anna Kelly said regarding the former USAID staffers’ efforts.

‘Leave Bolsonaro Alone!’ — Trump Warns Brazil Against ‘Witch Hunt’ of Populist Leader.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: On Monday, President Donald J. Trump cautioned Brazil’s far-left government and judiciary that his administration opposes the ongoing lawfare campaign against populist former President Jair Bolsonaro.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: President Donald J. Trump, Jair Bolsonaro, the Trump administration, and the Brazilian government.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Brazil and the United States, July 7, 2025.

💬KEY QUOTE: “The only Trial that should be happening is a Trial by the Voters of Brazil — It’s called an Election. LEAVE BOLSONARO ALONE!” – President Donald J. Trump

🎯IMPACT: Trump backing Bolsonaro could cause friction between the U.S. and Brazil and bolster Bolsonaro’s supporters.

IN FULL

President Donald J. Trump has defended populist former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, sometimes dubbed the ‘Tropical Trump,’ in a post on his Truth Social platform, calling the charges against him a “witch hunt.” Bolsonaro, who lost reelection in 2022 to the far-left Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva—after Bolsonaro’s attempts to do away with voting machine-based elections were blocked—has been banned from seeking office until 2030.

“Brazil is doing a terrible thing on their treatment of former President Jair Bolsonaro. I have watched, as has the World, as they have done nothing but come after him, day after day, night after night, month after month, year after year!” Trump wrote. He continued, “He is not guilty of anything, except having fought for THE PEOPLE.”

Trump praised Bolsonaro as a “strong Leader” and tough negotiator on trade. “His Election was very close, and now, he is leading in the Polls,” he added. Trump concluded with a direct message: “The Great People of Brazil will not stand for what they are doing to their former President. I’ll be watching the WITCH HUNT of Jair Bolsonaro, his family, and thousands of his supporters, very closely. The only Trial that should be happening is a Trial by the Voters of Brazil — It’s called an Election. LEAVE BOLSONARO ALONE!”

He also compared the efforts to exclude Bolsonaro from Brazil’s elections to the lawfare campaign against him in 2024, writing, “This is nothing more, or less, than an attack on a Political Opponent — Something I know much about! It happened to me, times 10.”

Brazilian President Lula responded on X, formerly Twitter: “We are a sovereign country. We do not accept interference or guardianship from anyone. We have solid and independent institutions. No one is above the law. Especially those that threaten freedom and the rule of law.” However, whether the Brazilian people are truly sovereign if they are denied the opportunity to vote for Bolsonaro as their preferred candidate is debatable.

Lula had himself been convicted of corruption and was blocked from running in 2018. However, his convictions were overturned in 2021 by a court largely composed of judges appointed by him or his political allies.

California Republicans Are Lobbying Trump to Give Illegal Immigrants Amnesty.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: Republican lawmakers in California sent a letter to President Donald J. Trump urging changes to immigration enforcement policies and advocating for a legal pathway for so-called “non-criminal undocumented immigrants [sic].”

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: The letter was signed by state Sen. Minority Leader Brian Jones, Sen. Suzette Valladares, and four other Republican lawmakers.

📍WHEN & WHERE: The letter was sent to the Trump White House in late June, and revealed publicly over the July 4 weekend.

💬KEY QUOTE: “America needs a system that reflects both compassion and lawfulness—one that upholds sovereignty while recognizing the reality on the ground,” the lawmakers claim.

🎯IMPACT: The letter highlights continued resistance to strong borders and mass deportations among some in the Republican Party, particularly those with close ties to industries enjoying cheap foreign labor.

IN FULL

A group of six Republican state lawmakers in California is demanding that President Donald J. Trump direct U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to end its “sweeping raids” against illegal immigrants and instead open “a path to legal status” for what they claim are “non-criminal undocumented immigrants [sic].” Notably, while unlawful entry into the United States only currently carries a civil penalty, under the U.S. Code, the act is still considered a criminal offense, meaning there are no actual “non-criminal undocumented immigrants.”

“We have heard from employers in our districts that recent ICE raids are not only targeting undocumented workers, but also creating widespread fear among other employees, including those with legal immigration status,” the group of six California Republicans claimed, adding: “We urge you to direct ICE and DHS to focus their enforcement operations on criminal immigrants, and when possible to avoid the kinds of sweeping raids that instill fear and disrupt the workplace.”

The letter’s signatories include California Senate Minority Leader Brian Jones (R), Sen. Suzette Valladares (R), Sen. Rosilicie Ochoa Bogh (R), Assembly Member Heath Flora (R), Assembly Member Diane Dixon (R), and Assembly Member Laurie Davies (R). Sen. Jones had previously introduced legislation that directed California state prisons and county jails to provide release dates for illegal immigrants convicted of serious felonies and other violent crimes to federal immigration authorities. However, the legislation failed to advance out of committee.

“America needs a system that reflects both compassion and lawfulness—one that upholds sovereignty while recognizing the reality on the ground,” the letter insists. The state lawmakers call on Trump and Congress to enact a pathway to legal status for so-called “non-criminal” illegal immigrants who supposedly have strong community ties. They also urge reforms to the H-2A and H-2B visa programs to authorize more legal guest workers across industries, alleging labor shortages in sectors such as construction, hospitality, and food processing—apparently preferring this to improving conditions to attract American workers.

According to the American Farm Bureau, the federal government previously authorized 384,900 H-2A temporary agriculture visas, while the H-2B visa program is capped at 66,000 annually. Notably, California’s latest jobs report found 1.1 million unemployed residents, with 659,000 job openings as of March 2025.

Tesla Shares Tanked After Musk’s ‘America Party’ Announcement.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: Tesla’s stock price dropped seven percent after Elon Musk announced the formation of a new political party, the “America Party.”

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Elon Musk, President Donald J. Trump, and Tesla investors.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Announcement made over the weekend of July 4; stock slump occurred during Monday morning trading.

💬KEY QUOTE: “Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom.” – Elon Musk

🎯IMPACT: Tesla’s stock decline and potential investor concerns over Musk’s political involvement.

IN FULL

Tesla’s stock price fell seven percent to $293 per share in morning trading on Monday, following Elon Musk‘s announcement over the weekend that he has formed a new political party named the “America Party.” The announcement came after Musk’s public split with President Donald J. Trump over the recently signed “One Big Beautiful Bill,” which increases immigration enforcement and cuts taxes for workers.

Musk, in a July 5 post on X, stated: “Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom.” He also hinted that his party would focus on influencing a small number of key Senate and House races. President Trump responded on Truth Social, calling Musk a “TRAIN WRECK” and accusing him of going “completely off the rails.” Musk has not yet disclosed specific steps taken to formalize the party, a process that would involve navigating state and federal regulations.

The announcement has raised concerns among Tesla investors. Notably, James Fishback, a former top Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) staffer and technology investor, announced his firm would be pulling its support for Musk and Tesla, citing the billionaire’s political aspirations as potentially hurting Tesla’s business prospects. “Elon left us with no other choice,” Fishback said over the weekend.

Tesla was already facing significant market challenges, with sales of its electric vehicles dropping more than 13 percent from April to June compared to the same period last year. In Europe, sales fell by nearly 50 percent in April, even as the overall electric vehicle market grew.

The New York Times Finally Admits Trump Was Right About Migrant Gangs in Colorado.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: The New York Times has finally admitted that President Donald J. Trump was right in his claims about the violent illegal immigrant crime crisis that plagued the city of Aurora, Colorado, in the lead-up to the 2024 presidential election.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: The New York Times, President Donald J. Trump, illegal immigrants from Venezuela, Tren de Aragua, residents of Aurora, Colorado, and journalist Ted Conover.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Aurora saw a series of violent crimes perpetrated by illegal immigrants between 2023 and 2024, with the NYT acknowledging Trump was correct on July 3, 2025.

💬KEY QUOTE: “[T]heir refusal to acknowledge the violence that some residents were seeing with their own eyes came off not as reassurance but as erasure,” writes Ted Conover, describing Democrat lawmakers and the corporate media who waved off the incidents of violent illegal immigrant crime in Aurora in 2024.

🎯IMPACT: The issue of illegal immigrant crime became a major presidential campaign issue for Trump, with his administration subsequently enacting a sweeping nationwide crackdown on those in the country unlawfully.

IN FULL

The New York Times has finally acknowledged that President Donald J. Trump was right about the illegal immigrant Venezuelan gangs that have plagued residents in Aurora, Colorado. In a sprawling exposé, author and journalist Ted Conover details a violent series of incidents perpetrated by illegal immigrants believed to be members of the Venezuelan gang, Tren de Aragua, that became a core focus of President Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign.

Conover admits that, at the time, the corporate media and Democrat politicians ignored the city’s illegal immigrant gang crisis, writing, “[T]heir refusal to acknowledge the violence that some residents were seeing with their own eyes came off not as reassurance but as erasure.” Notably, the NYT itself ran a story with the headline, “How the False Story of a Gang ‘Takeover’ in Colorado Reached Trump” and waved away the crisis, stating: “The claim that Aurora, Colo., has been overrun by gun-toting migrants stemmed from the city’s fight with a landlord.”

While city officials in Aurora had been engaged in a protracted battle with CBZ Management—a Brooklyn, New York-based landlord company—over sanitation and blight conditions at three apartments along East Colfax Avenue, these issues appear only tangentially connected to the spike in violent crime perpetrated by illegal immigrants at the complexes. Speaking with several former residents of the CBZ Management properties in Aurora, Conover details incidents that far exceed the claims made by Trump during the election.

While a video of a group of young male Venezuelan illegal immigrants brandishing firearms and breaking into a residential unit at the Edge at Lowry apartment complex last year garnered some corporate media attention, the details surrounding the incident and the frightening extent of criminal activity were largely ignored. Notably, while the illegal immigrants appeared to leave after briefly entering the apartment unit, they subsequently confronted the resident, Oswaldo José Dabion Araujo, outside the complex and shot and killed him. “It looked like Beirut, with bullet holes in the front,” a local pastor said, describing the state of the property after a wave of illegal immigrants, mostly young men in their twenties, arrived from Venezuela in late 2023.

In addition to the murder of Dabion Araujo, the three apartments owned by CBZ Management saw other violent assaults. In one incident, a man and a woman arguing in a parking lot outside one complex were attacked by a group of illegal Venezuelans, ending with the man being shot several times in the leg. Other residents reported illegal immigrants stealing motorcycles and riding them through the hallways of the buildings. All three properties were plagued with drug dealing, theft, and prostitution.

Two Venezuelan nationals appear to have controlled a bulk of the criminal activity in at least one of the apartment buildings. Brothers Jhonnarty and Jhonardy Pacheco Chirinos ran what Aurora Police now believe was a local affiliate of Tren de Aragua, financing their gang operations through—among other things—the theft of items from a nearby Walmart. Both brothers have subsequently been arrested.

While President Trump’s crackdown on illegal immigration has begun to turn the tide—U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrests in Colorado are up over 250 percent—Aurora is still seeing some violent incidents. In June, the city’s Chief of Police, Todd Chamberlain, publicized a new video of an apartment break-in perpetrated by illegal immigrants believed to be members of a gang. “This might sound like déjà vu,” Chamberlain said at the time, adding: “This is something that we are proactively addressing with everything that we can.”

EPA Places 144 Deep Staters on Leave for Signing Anti-Trump Letter.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) placed 144 officials on leave after they signed a public letter criticizing the agency’s direction under the Trump administration.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin, 144 EPA officials, and over 400 current and former government employees who signed the letter.

📍WHEN & WHERE: The action was taken on Thursday at the EPA, which employs over 15,000 staff nationwide.

💬KEY QUOTE: “We have a ZERO tolerance policy for agency bureaucrats unlawfully undermining, sabotaging, and undercutting the agenda of this administration,” said Lee Zeldin.

🎯IMPACT: The decision underscores the administration’s commitment to enforcing its policies and sends a message to fifth-column staff.

IN FULL

The 144 Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) employees who signed a letter criticizing the Trump administration’s reorganization of the agency and shift in its policies have been placed on leave. Sent to EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin earlier this week, the letter accused the agency of sidelining environmental protections and undermining public trust. Among the complaints leveled was the EPA’s abandonment of far-left progressive environmental justice initiatives.

Speaking on the matter, Zeldin emphasized that the majority of EPA employees remain committed to implementing the Trump White House’s agenda, describing the letter as the product of a small minority. “We have a ZERO tolerance policy for agency bureaucrats unlawfully undermining, sabotaging, and undercutting the agenda of this administration as voted for by the great people of this country last November,” Zeldin said in a statement.

“Unfortunately, a small number of employees signed onto a public letter, written as agency employees, using their official work title, that was riddled with misinformation regarding agency business,” Zeldin stated, adding: “Our ZERO tolerance policy is in full force and effect and will be unapologetically implemented unconditionally.”

The letter, signed by more than 400 current and former government officials, listed five primary concerns, including claims that the EPA is ignoring science, gutting environmental justice initiatives, and fostering a “culture of fear.” However, only 144 signatories were identified as active EPA employees, with the rest being former Biden government appointees, retirees, or individuals from other agencies who signed anonymously or under pseudonyms.

Since taking office, Zeldin has focused on rolling back regulations he argues are overburdensome and harm economic growth, while targeting wasteful green spending programs introduced during the Biden government. The National Pulse has previously reported that under Zeldin’s leadership, the agency uncovered a $14 billion scheme that saw taxpayer dollars funneled by the Biden-era EPA to an external account with Citibank, which disbursed the funds to three Democrat-aligned environmental nonprofits. Notably, one of the nonprofit groups, which received $2 billion in grants, is affiliated with Georgia election denier Stacy Abrams.

BREAKING: ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’ Passes the House, Heads to Trump’s Desk.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: House Republicans have adopted a final version of the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” which passed the chamber largely on a party-line vote. The legislation enacting much of President Donald J. Trump’s domestic policy agenda will now head to the White House for the America First leader’s signature.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: President Trump, House Republicans, Vice President J.D. Vance, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY).

📍WHEN & WHERE: The procedural vote to advance the bill began Wednesday evening and concluded early Thursday morning in the U.S. House of Representatives, clearing the way for the legislation’s final passage.

💬KEY QUOTE: “Trump was directly engaged, as he always is, and that was very important.” – House Speaker Mike Johnson.

🎯IMPACT: The bill extends Trump’s 2017 tax cuts and fulfills other economic promises, including Trump’s no tax on tips, overtime, and social security campaign pledge. The passage of the “One Big Beautiful Bill” marks a significant political victory for the America First leader.

IN FULL

House Republicans voted to adopt the “One Big Beautiful Bill” on Thursday largely along party lines, following delays that began on Wednesday evening. The landmark legislation enacts much of President Donald J. Trump’s domestic policy agenda; extending his 2017 tax cuts, fulfilling his campaign pledge for no tax on tips, no tax on social security, no tax on overtime, and providing significant increases in funding for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

The procedural vote began at approximately 9:30 PM on Wednesday and concluded at 3:20 AM on Thursday. Much like the bill’s passage in the Senate, Congressional leadership was forced to keep the floor vote open for an extended period as Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) and the Trump White House worked to flip five Republican holdouts.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) spoke before the final vote, abusing party leaders’ right to unlimited debate time to ramble for close to nine hours. Vice President J.D. Vance noted that a Republican Congressman texted him, stating, “I was undecided on the bill but then I watched Hakeem Jeffries’ performance and now I’m a firm yes.”

Meanwhile, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) lauded President Trump’s involvement in securing the votes for the bill’s final passage. “Trump was directly engaged, as he always is, and that was very important,” Johnson said. He added that members sought assurances from Trump regarding the bill and future plans, which helped solidify support.

Musk’s DOGE Record in Question as Federal Workforce Is Down Barely 1%.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: Federal workforce data reveals a reduction of over 23,000 positions under the Trump administration as part of efforts to streamline government operations.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: President Donald J. Trump, former Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) frontman Elon Musk, the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM), and career federal workers.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Data reflects changes between September 30, 2024, and March 31, 2025, across federal agencies in the United States.

💬KEY QUOTE: “The American people deserve a government that is lean, efficient, and focused on core priorities.” – Acting OPM Director Charles Ezell

🎯IMPACT: The reduction, equivalent to around one percent of the federal workforce, marks a step toward President Trump’s goal of a smaller, more accountable government, but suggests Musk’s high-profile efforts at DOGE were lacklustre.

IN FULL

Federal workforce data from the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) shows a reduction of more than 23,000 positions between September 30, 2024, and March 31, 2025. The total number of federal employees decreased from 2,313,216 to 2,289,472 during this period. This change reflects the Trump administration’s early efforts to streamline government operations and reduce bureaucracy.

“That’s just through the end of March. So I suspect those numbers will be higher by the end of September this year, which is when a lot of the early retirement packages–and buyouts–go into effect,” said Alex Nowrasteh, vice president for economic and social policy studies at the Cato Institute. However, he added, “This is not enough shrinkage in the federal workforce.” Acting OPM Director Charles Ezell described the reduction as “the first measurable step toward President Trump’s vision of a disciplined, accountable federal workforce.”

The reduction follows an executive order signed by President Donald J. Trump in February, directing the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to coordinate with federal agencies to implement staffing cuts. OPM data indicates that while agencies averaged 23,000 new hires monthly from April 2024 to January 2025, that number dropped by nearly 70 percent to just 7,385 per month after the hiring freeze took effect.

Former DOGE frontman Elon Musk claimed he could reduce the federal workforce substantially, enjoying a high public profile for his efforts before leaving the administration and turning against President Trump. However, economists like Peter Morici have noted that, “Basically, Elon Musk poured a few teacups of ice water into the ocean to combat its rising temperature.”

OPM also reported that “hundreds of thousands more workers” are expected to leave in October 2025 under the Deferred Resignation Program. Notably, tens of thousands of employees remain on the payroll due to Democratic Party lawfare that has secured several federal court orders hampering the Trump administration’s efforts.

Trump Economy Beats Jobs Expectations for Fourth Straight Month.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: U.S. employers added 147,000 jobs in June, while unemployment dropped to 4.1 percent.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: The U.S. Labor Department, Federal Reserve, and employers and workers across various sectors.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Report released July 2025, covering the jobs situation across the United States.

💬KEY QUOTE: “BOOM: The U.S. economy added 147,000 jobs in June—beating expectations for the FOURTH straight month!” — Trump War Room.

🎯IMPACT: The Trump economy’s continued strength undermines claims that the President’s tariff policies are harmful—but may end up being used as an excuse to avoid cutting interest rates regardless.

IN FULL

American employers continued to hire at a steady pace in June, adding 147,000 jobs, according to a Labor Department report released Thursday. Additionally, job gains for April and May were revised upward by a total of 16,000 jobs. The unemployment rate dropped to 4.1 percent from 4.2 percent in May.

Job growth was primarily concentrated in the healthcare sector and state and local government. However, the federal government reduced its workforce by 7,000 jobs in June.

Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, who has been at odds with President Donald J. Trump over his refusal to cut interest rates, addressed the labor market during a central bankers’ panel in Portugal on Tuesday. “We watch very carefully for signs of unexpected weakness,” Powell said.

The central bank chief and other establishment economic thinkers have long suggested that President Trump’s tariff policies, intended to protect American workers from unfair competition, are poised to reignite inflation and cause job losses, but, months on, there remain few indications that this is happening.

Powell indicated that the Fed expects to lower its benchmark interest rate later this year, though the Trump economy’s consistent job gains may end up being used as an excuse not to cut.

Musk’s ‘America Party’ Is Ketamine-Fueled Delusion: Pollster.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: Former Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) frontman Elon Musk attacked President Donald J. Trump’s “one big beautiful bill” and threatened to create a new “America Party,” but pollster Jim McLaughlin believes he is delusional.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Elon Musk, Donald Trump, and Trump pollster Jim McLaughlin.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Musk’s comments were posted on X on Monday, following the Senate’s passage of the “one big beautiful bill.”

💬KEY QUOTE: “Trump is the Republican Party right now. He is the conservative movement. There’s not a hankering for a third party with Elon Musk.” – Jim McLaughlin

🎯IMPACT: Musk’s remarks have reignited a public feud with the Trump administration and raised questions about his political influence and personal behavior.

IN FULL

Threats by Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) frontman turned Trump adversary Elon Musk to form a new “America Party” have been dismissed by Jim McLaughlin, President of McLaughlin & Associates Polls. Musk, in a post on his X platform, criticized the Trump-championed “one big beautiful bill” currently making its way through Congress, calling it “insane” and accusing the government of being a “one-party country – the PORKY PIG PARTY!!”

The bill fulfills many of President Trump’s campaign promises, for instance, by increasing funds for border security and immigration enforcement and cutting taxes on tips and overtime. However, Musk is unhappy with it because it increases spending without sufficient cuts for his liking—seemingly not understanding that, as a reconciliation bill, the “OBBB” is unable to make certain cuts to certain types of spending, which are being dealt with through separate legislation.

Musk proposed the idea of a new “America Party” that “actually cares about the people.” He also threatened to fund primary challengers to Republican lawmakers who support the OBBB. In response, President Donald J. Trump alluded to reports that Musk, originally from South Africa, came to the U.S. as an illegal immigrant, and suggested DOGE may begin to scrutinize Musk’s expensive federal contracts and subsidies.

Jim McLaughlin, a pollster for Trump, dismissed Musk’s political ambitions. “I think it’s the ketamine talking in the middle of the night,” McLaughlin said, referring to reports of Musk’s allegedly extensive drug abuse. “Trump is the Republican Party right now. He is the conservative movement. There’s not a hankering for a third party with Elon Musk,” McLaughlin added.

Polls suggest Musk is deeply unpopular, being despised by Democrats for supporting President Trump’s 2024 campaign and initial DOGE efforts—after previously voting for Joe Biden in 2020 and for Hillary Clinton in 2016—while his support among Republicans has also eroded due to his public attacks on Trump and America First stalwarts such as WarRoom host Stephen K. Bannon.
