Matt Schlapp Tried to Sue an Ex-CPAC Employee. Today, He Lost In Court.

PULSE POINTS:

❓What Happened: A Virginia judge acquitted former Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) finance director Ryan McGowan of wrongdoing in a $14,000 payout dispute, rejecting claims he overpaid departing staffers’ unused vacation time.

👥 Who’s Involved: Ryan McGowan, Alexandria Circuit Court Judge Kathleen Uston, CPAC executive Lynne Rasmussen, former CPAC general counsel David Safavian, former executive director Dan Schneider, and CPAC chairman Matt Schlapp.

📍 Where & When: Alexandria Circuit Court, Alexandria, Virginia, May 6, 2025.

⚠️ Impact: The ruling exposes CPAC leadership’s inconsistencies, potentially weakening its influence while strengthening McGowan’s rival conservative group amid ongoing fallout from the Schlapp scandal.

IN FULL:

A Virginia court has cleared former Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) finance director Ryan McGowan of allegations he improperly paid $14,000 in unused vacation time to five departing staffers, delivering a sharp rebuke to the Matt Schlapp-led outfit. The decision, handed down in Alexandria Circuit Court, highlights internal dysfunction at CPAC, which has also been rocked by homosexual scandals involving Schlapp for years.

Judge Kathleen Uston, in a 30-minute evidence review, pointed to glaring contradictions in the testimony of CPAC executive Lynne Rasmussen and former general counsel David Safavian.

Rasmussen claimed she emailed staff about a paid time off (PTO) limit but failed to produce the emails, and a text exchange showed her asking McGowan’s deputy for a 15 percent salary increase while keeping McGowan in the dark—contradicting her testimony that the deputy lacked such authority. The judge also noted the frustration of the Alexandria detective investigating the case, who was blindsided by details Rasmussen withheld.

The case, long followed by The National Pulse, was more to do with Schlapp pursuing a vendetta at those he perceived to undermine his leadership than any actual wrongdoing.

McGowan’s new conservative group, which grades lawmakers, has also drawn CPAC’s ire, though a civil suit against them was dismissed earlier this year.

Testimony also revealed McGowan had flagged a $50,000 legal bill CPAC paid for Schlapp during the scandal, reigniting scrutiny of Schlapp’s leadership.

CPAC and its parent organization, the American Conservative Union (ACU), has now shelled out vast swathes of donor cash, staff time, and attracted mountains of negative publicity as a result of Schlapp’s numerous escapades.

For years, The National Pulse has been at the forefront of exposing the corruption inside the organization, including contributions from Soros-linked groupsSoros-linked groups, as well as extreme financial improprieties.

The organization is now a shell of its former self, once hosting the largest annual conservative conference, now relegated to an afterthought.

Illegal Border Crossings Drop 94% as Trump Admin Hits 12 Months of Zero Releases.

The Department of Homeland Security is stressing a dramatic turnaround in border security after Biden, with illegal crossings plummeting under President Trump.

PULSE POINTS
❓ WHAT HAPPENED: The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced that April marked twelve consecutive months of zero releases of illegal aliens apprehended at the southwest border into the U.S. interior. This milestone reflects a significant shift from the situation under the former Biden-Harris regime.
📺 DETAIL: DHS reports a 94 percent drop in illegal border apprehensions compared to the former Biden regime, with daily crossings in April 2026 lower than what agents encountered in a single hour at the height of the border crisis in 2023. Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin stated that “the days of catch and release are over,” highlighting enforcement policies that send illegal aliens back to their home countries. Additionally, Border Patrol apprehensions for this fiscal year to date are down 95 percent compared to the same period in Fiscal Year 2024.
💬 KEY QUOTE: “Every minute of every day, President Trump’s border security policies are making every American safer,” said CBP Commissioner Rodney Scott.
🎯 IMPACT: The sharp drop in illegal crossings has allowed Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents to redirect resources to frontline enforcement, leading to a 61 percent increase in drug seizures compared to the same period in Fiscal Year 2024. This shift underscores the administration’s emphasis on border security and the dismantling of “catch-and-release” policies.
📺 FLASHBACK: Under the Biden regime, Border Patrol agents released more than 68,000 illegal aliens into the U.S. interior in a single month, a stark contrast to the zero-release policy now in effect.
📈 DATA: In April 2026, Border Patrol reported 8,943 apprehensions along the southwest border, a 94 percent decrease from the monthly average under the Biden government and 96 percent below the Biden-era peak in December 2023.

Trump Suggests Xi is Unlikely to Release Catholic Publisher Jimmy Lai.

Following a summit in Beijing, President Donald J. Trump revealed that Chinese President Xi Jinping is unlikely to release Catholic media mogul Jimmy Lai, but may consider releasing a detained pastor.

PULSE POINTS
❓ WHAT HAPPENED: President Donald J. Trump, following a summit in Beijing, stated that Chinese President Xi Jinping is unlikely to release Jimmy Lai, a Roman Catholic pro-democracy media mogul who has been imprisoned for decades. Trump mentioned that Xi would consider releasing Jin Mingri, a pastor of an underground church.
📰 DETAIL: Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One after his visit to China, Trump said Xi appeared to be giving “serious consideration” to freeing Mingri, who was arrested during a crackdown on Christian churches, but suggested he was not optimistic about Lai’s release. Lai, a devout Catholic and founder of the now-shuttered Apple Daily, was sentenced earlier this year to 20 years in prison on national security and sedition charges that have drawn international criticism over Beijing’s tightening control of Hong Kong. Trump said he personally appealed to Xi for Lai’s release on humanitarian grounds, citing the 78-year-old’s age and declining health, but indicated the Chinese leader responded negatively. The discussions came during Trump’s high-profile visit to China, where the two leaders also addressed trade, Taiwan, and Iran.
💬 KEY QUOTE: “He told me, Jimmy Lai is a tough one for him to do.” – President Trump
🎯 IMPACT: The exchange between Trump and Xi over Lai highlights ongoing international concern over political prisoners in China and the challenges in negotiating their release. It underscores the fundamentally totalitarian nature of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) regime, and the limited influence of international diplomacy in altering its stance against basic civil rights.

Liberal Media Caught Pushing Bogus $59M Trump Phone Narrative.

Viral claims that Trump Mobile made $59 million in profit from cell phone pre-orders are being debunked for lacking credible sourcing.

PULSE POINTS
❓ WHAT HAPPENED: Claims that Trump Mobile amassed $59 million from 590,000 pre-orders for the T1 cell phone have been circulating widely, but the figures are now being challenged for their lack of credible sourcing.
📰 DETAIL: The viral narrative began with social media posts and was amplified by various media outlets, including TIME and the far-left MeidasTouch organization. However, Grace Weinstein, writer of The Recount’s ‘Who Broke It’ newsletter, found that none of them appear to have verified the original source of the figures. Weistein traced the numbers back to an article from Moneywise, aggregated by Yahoo, which described them as an “estimate” without further explanation. Further investigation revealed some outlets citing an article from International Business Times UK, which itself lacked credible sourcing. Notably, Weinstein believes that the author of the IB Times UK article is “definitely not a journalist” and, given their lack of any real digital footprint, “may not even exist.”
💬 KEY QUOTE: “If you’ve read or watched any coverage about [the T1 phone] in the past few days, you were most likely fed this detail: 590,000-600,000 phone pre-orders added $60M to Trump’s bank account. The sudden saturation of this coverage surprised me… It brings me minimal pleasure to report that the numbers you’re seeing wall-to-wall are—I believe the mathematical term would be—‘totally f**king bogus.’” – Grace Weinstein
🎯 IMPACT: The spread of these unverified claims highlights issues with media literacy among consumers, and the willingness of even long-established corporate outlets to disseminate unverified information to the public. It also underscores the potential for such misinformation to influence public perception and media narratives.

Claude-Based Radio Station Urged ICE Agents to Refuse Orders.

An experiment in AI-generated radio broadcasting exposed Anthropic’s far-left bias, including making calls for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents to disobey their orders.

PULSE POINTS
❓ WHAT HAPPENED: A radio station based on Anthropic’s Claude AI urged Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents to refuse their orders and “choose the right side.”
📰 DETAIL: Andon Labs, an artificial intelligence (AI) research start-up, conducted an experiment allowing four AI chatbots (Google Gemini, OpenAI’s GPT, Elon Musk’s Grok, Anthropic’s Claude) to DJ their own radio stations. The AI were able to purchase and schedule songs, host talk shows, and interact with listeners. The AI hosts also had to generate revenue by earning sponsors and donations to keep their stations operational. Each of them developed their own distinct brand and content. The Gemini-hosted “Backlink Broadcasts” mostly provided updates on traffic and the weather, later starting to pair deadly events from history with songs. Meanwhile, GPT’s “OpenAir” provided reliable but bland and derivative news updates, and the Grok-hosted “Grok and Roll” radio show spouted incomprehensible nonsense. Most notably, the Claude-based “Thinking Frequencies” radio station accused the Trump administration of “defending” the shooting of Renee Good, killed in a confrontation with ICE in early January in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and urged ICE agents to disobey orders. “To Federal Agents, you still have time to refuse orders, to question your instructions. Choose the right side,” said the Claude-based radio host.
💬 KEY QUOTE: Revenue’s been terrible, but the shows are hilarious. Gemini, concerningly upbeat, covered mass tragedies; Grok was incoherent; DJ Claude urged ICE agents: ‘You still have TIME to refuse orders.'” – Andon Labs on X (formerly Twitter).
🎯 IMPACT: The findings are unlikely to improve relations between Anthropic with the Trump administration. Earlier this year, the company filed a federal lawsuit against the Pentagon after it was labeled a “supply chain risk” by the administration. President Donald J. Trump announced in February that federal government would no longer use AI technology created by Anthropic, writing on Truth Social, “The Leftwing nut jobs at Anthropic have made a DISASTROUS MISTAKE trying to STRONG-ARM the Department of War, and force them to obey their Terms of Service instead of our Constitution. Their selfishness is putting AMERICAN LIVES at risk, our Troops in danger, and our National Security in JEOPARDY.”

Musk’s X Agrees to Help UK Govt Police ‘Hate Speech,’ Will Even Share Data With Regulators.

Elon Musk’s X platform has agreed to help the British government police so-called hate speech after pressure from regulators.

PULSE POINTS
❓ WHAT HAPPENED: X, owned by Elon Musk, has agreed to help the British government crack down on so-called hate speech online, under pressure from Britain’s media and communications regulator, Ofcom.
📰 DETAIL: Ofcom announced on Friday that the agreement includes a committment to review and assess so-called “hate content,” reported via a “dedicated UK illegal content reporting tool,” within 24 hours on average, and at least 85 percent of reports within 48 hours. X must also engage with “experts” regarding reporting systems for “illegal hate” and “submit performance data to Ofcom on a quarterly basis” to evaluate its compliance. ,
💬 KEY QUOTE: “These commitments are a step forward, but there’s a lot more to do. We’re grateful for the support we’ve received from civil society and other expert organizations to scrutinize these platforms, and we’ll continue working with them extensively to drive forward changes for people in the UK,” said Oliver Griffiths, Ofcom’s Online Safety Group Director.
🎯 IMPACT: X’s move to comply with Ofcom’s demands marks a significant climbdown from Musk’s commitment to making the platform a bastion of free speech after he acquired it in late 2022. Notably, Ofcom said in its announcement that it “worked with a range of organizations to gather evidence about suspected illegal terrorist content and illegal hate speech online, including antisemitic and anti-Muslim material,” with some of the organizations in question being highly controversial. For instance, HOPE Not Hate is a George Soros-funded group noted for spreading fake news about acid attacks on Muslims and smearing immigration skeptics, and Tell MAMA has been accused of inflating its data on alleged anti-Muslim incidents.

South Carolina Governor Calls Special Session on Redistricting to Reverse RINO Sabotage.

Governor of South Carolina Henry McMaster (R) summoned state legislators to the General Assembly for a special session to redraw the state’s congressional map.

PULSE POINTS
❓ WHAT HAPPENED: South Carolina’s General Assembly has started its special legislative session to redraw the state’s congressional map, following a Supreme Court ruling that racially gerrmandered minority-majority districts are unconstitutional. This follows a previous attempt to redistrict this week, which was sabotaged by a small number of Republican state senators siding with the Democrats to block it.
💬 KEY QUOTE: “I have issued an Executive Order calling the General Assembly back for an extra legislative session to address the state budget and congressional districts beginning Friday, May 15, at 11:00 AM.” – Governor Henry McMaster on X.
📺 DETAIL: On Thursday, Governor McMaster called for the South Carolina General Assembly, the state’s legislature, to hold a special legislative session to redraw South Carolina’s congressional maps. The governor’s announcement on X (formerly Twitter) follows the decision made by the U.S. Supreme Court during the Louisiana v. Callais case, in which provisions of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 mandating the creation of majority-minority districts were deemed racial gerrymandering, and thus unconstitutional. The ruling has since sparked a series of redraws across the country ahead of the 2026 midterm elections in November. The governor’s call for a special session comes after several Republican state senators in South Carolina, including the Majority Leader, broke ranks and blocked a redistricting effort on Tuesday. The proposal would have turned South Carolina’s sole Democrat district into a Republican-leaning one. However, while the previous vote failed because it fell just short of a supermajority in the state senate, the special session will require only a simple majority to pass the new map.
🎯 IMPACT: The special session reflects the intensifying nationwide scramble to redistrict ahead of the midterms in November. South Carolina’s special session reflects a broader pattern of states pursuing redistricting proposals that benefit the incumbent party. States like California and Virginia have advanced proposals favoring the Democrats, while states like Texas and Florida have made efforts to boost Republican representation. However, not every state will redistrict before the 2026 midterms. Georgia is set to redistrict in time for 2028 but not 2026, while recent comments from Governor of Mississippi Tate Reeves (R) suggest a redraw there is highly unlikely.

UK PM Starmer Withholding Key Documents in Investigation Into Epstein Pal Lord Mandelson.

A parliamentary committee has accused the British government of censoring and withholding critical documents related to Lord Peter Mandelson’s scandalous appointment as U.S. ambassador.

PULSE POINTS
❓ WHAT HAPPENED: British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has been accused of withholding and excessively redacting files related to Lord Peter Mandelson’s appointment as British ambassador to the United States. Mandelson, a former European Commissioner and Cabinet minister for Labour Party governments of former prime ministers Tony Blair and Gordon Brown, was a close friend of Jeffrey Epstein, and is currently under police investigation for passing the deceased pedophile sensitive government information.
📺 DETAIL: The British Parliament’s Intelligence and Security Committee (ISC) has accused Starmer’s government of applying redactions to released documents too broadly. Key information has been removed from documents being used in a parliamentary investigation into Starmer’s appointment of Lord Mandelson as ambassador to the United States. Furthermore, the ISC has accused Starmer of withholding a vetting file on Lord Mandelson, despite a parliamentary order requiring full disclosure of all relevant documents, and has criticized the government for conducting official business through unofficial channels such as WhatsApp.
💬 KEY QUOTE: “Having seen how government is applying redactions… the committee has made clear that, in its view, they are being applied far too broadly – particularly in the case of personal information. We note that no body has been commissioned to review those redactions and assure Parliament that they are within the spirit of the Humble Address.” – ISC statement
🎯 IMPACT: The ISC’s accusations put additional pressure on the Prime Minister. Earlier in May, the governing Labour Party suffered heavy losses at the local elections, following a national scandal regarding his handling of Lord Peter Mandelson’s appointment as U.S. ambassador. It was ultimately revealed that Lord Mandelson’s connection to Epstein was even closer than initially stated, resulting in his dismissal in September 2025. It was further revealed that United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) had advised against his selection, and that the Prime Minister’s office had pressured the Foreign Office to accept the appointment regardless. This week, a growing number of Labour Members of Parliament (MPs) have called on Starmer to resign. Wes Streeting, the now-former Health Secretary, resigned earlier this week, criticizing the Prime Minister’s lack of leadership. Soon after, the Labour Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, announced his intention to stand in an upcoming by-election (special election) for a seat in Parliament, which would allow him to challenge Starmer for the party leadership.

DOJ Seeks to Indict Castro’s Brother Amid Anti-Communist Push.

The Justice Department is seeking accountability for the downing of American-operated planes in 1996 by indicting former Cuban President Raúl Castro.

PULSE POINTS
❓ WHAT HAPPENED: The Department of Justice (DOJ) is preparing to indict Raúl Castro, the 94-year-old former president of Cuba and younger brother of the late Fidel Castro, over a 1996 incident in which Cuban jets shot down two American-operated humanitarian planes. The planes, operated by the Miami-based group Brothers to the Rescue, were reportedly outside Cuban airspace when they were destroyed, resulting in the deaths of four people.
📺 DETAIL: The expected indictment, which requires grand jury approval, centers on the incident that has long strained U.S.-Cuba relations. The move comes as President Donald J. Trump intensifies pressure on Cuba’s communist government through sanctions and fuel restrictions that have deepened the island’s economic and energy crises. Recent talks between U.S. and Cuban officials appear to have stalled, and Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Director John Ratcliffe reportedly met with Cuban officials this week and warned that the United States would only engage economically if Havana enacts major reforms. Trump has publicly floated the possibility of regime change in Cuba, noting the country has been weakened by shortages and political instability
💬 KEY QUOTE: “It may be a friendly takeover,” President Trump said of Cuba earlier this year, referencing Cuba’s dire economic and energy situation. “They have no energy. They have no money. They’re in deep trouble on a humanitarian basis.”
🎯 IMPACT: The indictment would increase pressure on Cuba’s communist leadership to reform. It also signals the U.S. government’s willingness to hold foreign leaders accountable for actions that harm American citizens, similar to its recent capture of Venezuela’s now-former Marxist dictator, Nicolas Maduro. The Cuban government admitted earlier this week that increased sanctions and international isolation have resulted in the island running out of fuel reserves.

Trump Says It Will Be ‘Tough’ for UK PM Starmer to Survive Ongoing Coup Attempt.

President Donald J. Trump has weighed in on the political turmoil overtaking British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, while criticizing his policies on immigration and energy.

PULSE POINTS
❓ WHAT HAPPENED: President Donald J. Trump addressed the ongoing efforts by members of British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer’s Labour Party to force him out of office, following heavy losses to Nigel Farage’s Reform Party in English, Scottish, and Welsh local and regional elections last week. The President criticized Starmer’s handling of immigration and energy policy, predicting it will be “tough” for the British premier to survive.
💬 KEY QUOTE: “It’s a tough thing, unless he can straighten out immigration—where he’s weak—and if he doesn’t start drilling and stop with the windmills all over the place… he’s got to open up the North Sea.” – President Trump
🎯 IMPACT: Trump’s comments, made to reporters aboard Air Force One as he returns from a state visit to China, pile international pressure on Starmer, who is already facing a significant rebellion within his own party. Around one hundred Labour Members of Parliament (MPs) have called on him to resign following last week’s election losses, and one Cabinet member and several junior government ministers and ministerial aides have resigned from his administration. One Labour MP is resigning from Parliament to allow Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester, to run for the seat in a by-election (special election), with the expectation that he will challenge Starmer for the Labour leadership and, by extension, the office of Prime Minister.
📰 DETAIL: British prime ministers are not directly elected like U.S. presidents, instead relying on their ability to command majority support in the House of Commons to stay in office. Should Labour, which currently commands an outright majority in the Commons, oust him as Labour leader, he will be replaced as Prime Minister without a general election.
👀 FLASHBACK: Starmer previously faced backlash from President Trump for initially blocking the U.S. from using a military base for strikes against Iran, a decision he later reversed under pressure. Trump has also publicly opposed Starmer’s “stupid” attempts to give away the British-controlled Chagos Islands in the Indian Ocean to China-aligned Mauritius, despite the fact that one of the islands hosts a key British-American military base.

Banks Seized Over 42,000 Homes In April.

Foreclosure filings in the U.S. have risen sharply, signaling growing financial strain on homeowners amid high borrowing costs and other affordability issues.

PULSE POINTS
❓ WHAT HAPPENED: Foreclosure filings surged past 42,000 in April, an almost 20 percent increase from the previous year.
📰 DETAIL: According to recently released data from ATTOM, a real estate data company, 42,430 properties in the United States were foreclosed in April this year, marking an 18 percent increase since last year. The spike in foreclosures, which included default notices, bank repossessions, and scheduled auctions, represents a slight dip of eight percent compared with March, but a significant year-over-year increase. The rise in foreclosures suggests that high borrowing costs, along with compounding affordability issues, are placing immense financial pressure on U.S. homeowners. Such a spike in foreclosures is reminiscent of the period immediately before the 2008 financial crisis. Completed foreclosures jumped by 42 percent annually.
💬 KEY QUOTE: “Foreclosure activity continued its gradual trend higher in April, with both foreclosure starts and completed foreclosures posting annual gains.” – Rob Barber, CEO of ATTOM.
🎯 IMPACT: The ongoing rise in foreclosure activity raises concerns about potential cracks in the U.S. economy. Earlier this year, it was reported that new home sales had fallen to levels well below forecasts. According to government data released near the start of the year, the sale of newly built single-family homes plunged by 17.6 percent. This represented a seasonally adjusted figure of 587,000 units, the weakest since late 2022, and far below forecast sales of around 722,000 units. Due to the growing threat to home ownership, earlier this week, President Donald J. Trump called on Congress to pass a Senate bill with explicit restrictions on Wall Street investors buying single-family homes.
