Democrat-Run Cities With Soros-Backed DAs Are Watching Crime Spiral Out Control.

New York City Council Member Antonio Reynoso (D) has introduced a bill to abolish the New York Police Department’s (NYPD) gang database as gang crime reaches a new high throughout the city. By October 2021, more than 100 children aged under 18 were involved in street-gang related shootings. Almost all of the children killed in gang-related violence in New York City are minorities, predominantly black. A police source told the New York Post that, “the gangs are eating these kids alive.” A gang member has also been arrested in relation to the stabbing-murder of a Columbia University student, injuring a

DOJ Labels NYC, Portland, And Seattle As ‘Anarchist Jurisdictions,’ Trump To Review Federal Funding

The Department of Justice has labeled three American cities – New York City, Portland, and Seattle – as “jurisdictions that have permitted violence and destruction of property to persist,” granting President Trump the ability to review the status of their federal funding. The cities called out by the Department of Justice have all been rocked by violence caused by AntiFa and Black Lives Matter, which the press release credits to Democrat-led governments which “have refused to undertake reasonable measures to counteract criminal activities.” According to the Department of Justice: The U.S. Department of Justice today identified the following three jurisdictions

LGBT Activists Demand Christian Charity Samaritan’s Purse Leaves NYC

Samaritan’ Purse – the Christian relief service that has helped communities in need from all over the globe – has been asked to leave Central Park where they set up a field hospital to help with the overflow of patients from Mt. Sinai Hospital. The pressure to remove them was spearheaded by Councilman Corey Johnson (D) alongside New York’s Reclaim Pride Coalition, and The New York City Commission on Human Rights – all hardline LGBT activists. “It is time for Samaritan’s Purse to leave NYC. This group, led by the notoriously bigoted, hate-spewing Franklin Graham, came at a time when

More Voices Join the Chorus Against Social Emotional Learning

As alarm about the problems, dangers, and poor research related to social emotional learning (SEL) spreads, prominent new voices are entering the fray to speak against it. Bob Kellogg at One News Now recently discussed SEL’s harm to parental autonomy and the academic dilution it causes, while Max Eden, senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute, wrote in National Review about the problematic SEL curriculum adopted by New York City Mayor Bill DeBlasio for that city’s schools. The One News Now article referenced the op-ed that Jane Robbins and I wrote for The Federalist, based on our white paper for the

“Social Emotional Learning” Standards Continue Ominous National March

As chronicled in multiple articles (also here and here) and the Pioneer Institute white paper authored by attorney Jane Robbins and myself, efforts to impose government-determined norms for the attitudes, values, and beliefs of the nation’s children beginning in preschool are becoming disturbingly relentless. Despite lots of concerns by Ohio parents and pro-family state school board members, as well as troubling data provided by Education Liberty Watch, (summarized here) and activism by Eagle Forum and Concerned Women for America, the full Ohio state board adopted statewide SEL standards by an 11-6 vote. Although there were promises made that students, teachers,

New York City to Begin Directly Funding Abortions in 2020

New York City just became the first American city to directly fund abortions, appropriating $250,000 of their 2020 budget for abortions. Allocated dollars will be given to the New York Abortion Access Fund. This fund pays clinics for abortions on behalf of women who have insurance or Medicaid coverage that will not pay for abortions. An estimated one-third of the money they pay out is paid on behalf of women who come from out-of-state to get an abortion in New York. The fund has been paying for abortions since 2001. They paid for nearly 600 women to terminate their pregnancies

Conservatives, Liberals Unite in Opposition to Amazon’s “HQ2” Deal

After a contentious midterm election season, conservatives and leftists have finally found one thing they can agree on: Amazon’s HQ2 deal to open two new 25,000-person headquarters in New York and outside Washington, D.C. is a bad idea. To recap, Amazon launched its “HQ2” search in October 2017. Declaring that this new headquarters would be a full equal to their original Seattle campus, Amazon opened bids for a single 50,000-person headquarters to places 1) with a population over 1 million, 2) within 30 miles of a city or major population center, 3) within 45 minutes of an international airport, 4)

A Ban on Dancing? These Absurd, Antiquated Laws Need to Go

This article is part of a series focusing on Lens of Liberty, a project of the Vernon K. Krieble Foundation. A few weeks ago, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio finally gave his support to efforts aimed at repealing an absurd anti-dancing law which has been in the books for over 90 years. The Prohibition-era law prohibits groups of three or more people from dancing in “any room, place or space in the city” where there is “musical entertainment, singing, dancing or other forms of amusement.” Exceptions to this ban are given to establishments that obtain expensive city-issued licenses
