On Monday evening, Marco Rubio announced his intention to officially seek the office of the presidency. During his speech, he proudly reaffirmed his pro-life stance, stating:

If we remember that family – not government – is the most important institution in society, that all life deserves protection, and that all parents deserve to choose the education that’s right for their children, then we will have a strong people and a strong nation.

The line was received with huge applause from the crowd gathered at Freedom Tower in Miami, Fla.

Senator Rubio is staunchly pro-life, and his campaign is off to a good start. The official campaign website lists “Protecting Life at EVERY stage” within his top two issues and features a video from a 2012 keynote speech Sen. Rubio gave to the Susan B. Anthony List. At the end of his moving speech, Sen. Rubio says:

If I falter at some point, remind me of the speech tonight. I hope not to. I don’t expect to. And with your help, we won’t. So thank you so much, I appreciate it. Thank you very much.

It is incredibly encouraging to see Sen. Rubio affirm his pro-life values in this way, giving every indication that he will continue to be an ardent voice for life.

Marjorie Dannenfelser is the president of the Susan B. Anthony List, a national pro-life organization dedicated to electing leaders and advancing legislation to reduce and ultimately end abortion.
