A new ABC/WaPo poll shows that the Trump bump is coming not from the hardest of the hard core conservatives but from a a far more surprising source: GOP moderates, liberals and independents.
Trump receives 27 percent of the votes of GOP moderates/liberals, but just 17 percent among self-described “very conservative” GOP voters. Among moderate/liberal GOP voters, Trump has taken a commanding lead over second place Jeb Bush (27 to 13 percent). Among “very conservative” voters, Trump is losing to Scott Walker (17 percent to 25 percent, with Mike Huckabee a close third at 15 percent).
Who would have thought that Trump is eating into Jeb Bush’s strongholds?
