Less than a week after telling reporters that he would drop out of the election if his poll numbers showed he wouldn’t win, Donald Trump, in the usual Trump fashion, has declared that he’s never dropping out of the race. Trump attributes the confusion to biased media coverage of his initial remarks. Trump told Chris Cuomo on Tuesday:

“Let me make it a little bit different: I’m not getting out. I’m gonna win, OK? I gave a very honest answer, but the press takes an answer like that and they make it like, oh, there’s a big story, they make headlines out of it. It’s ridiculous,” Trump declared. “The question was: Would you get out? The answer is: I’m going all the way and we’re going to win. It’s a simpler answer and people can’t play around with that. I mean, I watch these politicians — you know they’re getting out in the next two weeks and they say, ‘Oh, I’m never getting out.’ They’re not telling the truth.”

While, Trump made it abundantly clear that he has no intention to leave the race, he did hint at the fact that he believes another candidate will be dropping out soon. On MSNBC, Trump told Joe Scarborough:

“Well, I’d rather not say, but I’m hearing one is going to be getting out very soon. And obviously you look at the field, when you’re at zero. We have a number of them at zero, a number of them at on. It must be awfully hard to go on like that. So, one I hear is getting out soon. I think you’re going to end up with four or five in the end, and that’s fine with me.”

Trump was pressed further and asked if he felt Rand Paul “would be getting out of the race soon,” to which Trump replied: “I do. I think he’s gotta go back to the people of Kentucky.”
