The Washington Post is attacking the Trump-appointed justice Brantley Starr, who penalized Southwest Airlines for firing a Christian conservative, referring to it as an ‘extremist’ ruling that promoted a right-wing ‘reeducation program.’
U.S. District Judge Starr awarded former Southwest Airlines employee Charlene Carter $5 million after she was unfairly dismissed for speaking out against the company and its employees’ position on abortion and the Washington D.C. “women’s march.”
Her behavior was called “inappropriate, harassing, and offensive” and “crossed the boundaries of acceptable behavior” by the airline, and she was summarily fired.
Justice Starr found the decision violated her rights under federal law and discriminated against her as a result of her religious beliefs. He then ordered that three lawyers representing Southwest undergo “religious-liberty training” at the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) to ensure that they understand the importance of “preserving free speech and religious freedom.”
The decision has been met with fury by the media, calling it “outrageous, unconstitutional and an abuse of judicial authority.” The Post, continued:
“[T]he notion of subjecting lawyers to a reeducation campaign by the likes of the ADF is tantamount to creating a government-endorsed thought police.”
The newspaper went on the suggest that former President Donald Trump is somehow responsible for the decision, stating: “This is the alarming legacy that former president Donald Trump has left us — a skewed bench that he would augment if reelected.”
The case is now being appealed by Southwest Airlines, which routinely celebrates “gay pride” and openly supports Planned Parenthood.
