Speaker Mike Johnson is promoting the Safeguarding American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act to revise the National Voter Registration Act. The bill proposes amendments requiring proof of citizenship for individuals who register to vote at departments of motor vehicles (DMVs) and other state agencies. It also mandates the removal of foreign nationals from state voting registers.
“There is currently an unprecedented and a clear and present danger to the integrity of our election system, and that is the threat of noncitizens and illegal aliens voting in our elections,” Johnson argues.
The Speaker says the introduction of the SAVE Act safeguards potential risks to the security of the election process. While the Joe Biden regime and its allies in the corporate media claim non-citizens are not voting in elections, weaknesses in the registration and vetting process mean it is happening — with such illegal voters three times more likely to vote for the Democrats.
Separate legislation has been introduced to stop resident foreigners, including illegal aliens, from being included in population counts used to decide congressional apportionment. The Biden regime has said it “strongly opposes” this legislation and Democratic politicians such as Rep. Yvette Clarke have suggested illegal immigration gives them an advantage in terms of redistricting.
A majority of Americans believe Joe Biden has been “encouraging” illegal aliens to enter the United States at scale to “create a permanent majority” for the Democratic Party over time. By the end of the current presidential term, he is projected to have overseen illegal immigration equal to all legal immigration from 1892 to 1954.
