A new round of election data offers little good news for Joe Biden. His net approval rating has hit an all-time low, according to poll aggregator FiveThirtyEight—with just 37.6 percent of voters approving of the job being done by the 81-year-old Democrat incumbent.
Biden’s record-low approval rating is far below that of other incumbent presidents at this point in their tenure in office. Biden‘s approval is three points lower than former President Donald J. Trump‘s on day 1,238 of his presidency and 10 points lower than his former running mate, then-President Barack Obama. Even former President Jimmy Carter‘s approval rating was two points higher than Biden’s at the same point in their respective presidencies.

Meanwhile, polling from Rasmussen Reports indicates 57 percent of voters say they believe Biden‘s mental decline is real—including one-third of Democrats. The Democrat incumbent’s mental state has become a widespread concern among voters following the release of his interview transcripts with Department of Justice special counsel Robert Hur. In the two interviews, Biden was unable to remember when he served as vice president and the date of his son Beau Biden’s death.
The recent release of the transcript of Biden’s interview with Time Magazine has only given further fuel to concerns that his mental faculties are worsening. In it, the 81-year-old Democrat repeatedly lies, gets basic facts wrong, and often becomes confused and devolves into incomprehensible gibberish.
According to the Rasmussen Reports poll, 60 percent of voters additionally say they believe the media has aided in covering up Biden’s declining mental state.

The ad, aired during the Knicks’ season opener, replaced the word “Knicks” with “Zohran” in the iconic orange and blue logo.
The team’s legal representatives argued that the ad could “mislead the public into believing that the Campaign is affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by, or in some way connected with the Knicks.” A spokesman for the Knicks stated, “The Knicks want to make it clear that we do not endorse Mr. Mamdani for Mayor, and we object to his use of our copyrighted logo. We will pursue all legal remedies to enforce our rights.”
While polling shows Mamdani, a Ugandan Muslim immigrant, leading Andrew Cuomo, the former state governor, heading into the final weeks of the campaign, continued misteps, as with the Knicks logo use, could leave undecided voters seeing the 34-year-old New York Assemblyman as too inexperienced to lead the city. In another inexplicable campaign flub in June, Mamdani’s proposal for city government-owned grocery stores fell apart after it was revealed that he didn’t understand the city budget. Among the errors was Mamdani’s confusing private investment with public investment and not understanding the budgetary impacts of “waived tax revenue” rather than “expenditure.”

Hadush Gerberslasie Kebatu, 38, was sentenced to just 12 months in prison in September for the assaults, which occurred while he was staying at a hotel housing asylum seekers in Epping, Essex. He was meant to be transferred from His Majesty’s Prison (HMP) Chelmsford to an immigration detention centre for deportation following early release, but was let loose among the public “accidentally.” Police have launched a major search to locate him, with officers urging the public to report any sightings.
British Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy, who also serves as Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice under Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, is reportedly furious over the incident. According to a government source, Lammy has “ordered an investigation” into how the release happened. The British Home Office and Ministry of Justice are also said to be reviewing procedures around the handling of foreign criminals awaiting deportation.
The case comes amid growing public anger over crime linked to asylum seekers and failures within the British immigration system. Earlier this year, protests erupted outside hotels used to house migrants following several high-profile incidents, including Kebatu’s initial arrest. In July, police in Essex ran over an anti-immigration protester during a demonstration sparked by outrage over the sex attack. The footage of the collision circulated widely on social media, fuelling further unrest.
In early August, the Metropolitan Police issued a 28-day protest ban after a group of mothers and children demonstrated outside a London hotel repurposed as asylum accommodation. Officers claimed the group’s behaviour “went well beyond protest to harassment.” A few weeks later, authorities prepared for what they described as the largest wave of anti-migration demonstrations in years, with more than 3,000 riot officers placed on standby across England and Wales.
The political fallout has been swift. Nigel Farage’s Reform Party has pledged to close down all migrant hotels if elected. Farage said his party would seek to end what he called “the migrant hotel racket” and enforce mass deportations of those in Britain illegally.

Zhang is alleged to have collaborated with Mexico’s Sinaloa and Jalisco New Generation drug cartels, both labeled as Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTOs) by U.S. President Donald J. Omar Garcia Harfuch, Mexico’s Security Secretary, described Zhang as “a major international money laundering operator” last year. A federal judge has ruled against a former Bidengovernment policy that expanded anti-discrimination protections to include gender identity in healthcare. Judge Louis Guirola Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi declared that the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) “exceeded its authority” in redefining sex discrimination under Title IX to include gender identity.
The legal challenge was brought by a coalition of 15 Republican-led states, including Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, and others. Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti (R) praised the ruling, stating, “When Biden-era bureaucrats tried to illegally rewrite our laws to force radical gender ideology into every corner of American healthcare, Tennessee stood strong and stopped them.”
Skrmetti’s office highlighted that the rule would have mandated healthcare providers to offer gender dysphoria treatments, prohibited sex-segregated spaces, and required states to subsidize such treatments through Medicaid. The court determined that Congress’s original intent in 1972’s Title IX referred to biological sex, not gender identity. It stressed that federal agencies cannot unilaterally rewrite laws to advance political agendas.
The rule was originally introduced under the Obama administration in 2016, reversed by the Trump administration, and later reinstated by the Biden government. However, the policy had already been stayed since July 2024, preventing it from taking effect. Judge Guirola’s ruling now vacates the rule entirely.

President Donald J. Trump broke off trade talks with Canada after one of its provincial governments launched a media campaign attacking the America First leader’s tariff policies. The Ontario provincial government is behind the anti-tariff television spots, which have aired on Newsmax, Bloomberg, Fox News, NBC, and ABC.
The advertisement uses selective audio from former President Ronald Reagan, warning against tariffs. In the edited clip, Reagan states, “High tariffs inevitably lead to retaliation by foreign countries and the triggering of fierce trade wars.” He added, “Then the worst happens: Markets shrink and collapse, businesses and industries shut down, and millions of people lose their jobs.” In another part of the advertisement, lines from two separate segments of Reagan’s speech are stitched together, altering the context of what the former President was saying.
President Trump responded to the misleading media campaign late Thursday, writing in a post on Truth Social, “The Ronald Reagan Foundation has just announced that Canada has fraudulently used an advertisement, which is FAKE, featuring Ronald Reagan speaking negatively about Tariffs.” He continued: “The ad was for $75,000,000. They only did this to interfere with the decision of the U.S. Supreme Court, and other courts. TARIFFS ARE VERY IMPORTANT TO THE NATIONAL SECURITY, AND ECONOMY, OF THE U.S.A. Based on their egregious behavior, ALL TRADE NEGOTIATIONS WITH CANADA ARE HEREBY TERMINATED.”
Likewise, the Ronald Reagan Foundation issued a statement condemning the ad spot and threatened legal action unless it was taken off the air, as “the Government of Ontario did not seek nor receive permission to use and edit the remarks.” The non-profit group also posted the full, unedited audio of Reagan’s April 25, 1987, “Radio Address to the Nation on Free and Fair Trade,” from which the edited clips were taken.
This is not the first time Canada’s Ontario province has meddled in trade talks with the U.S. This past March, Ontario’s premier, Doug Ford, was forced to drop retaliatory energy tariffs after pressure from Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and the Trump White House. Decarlos Brown Jr., 34, has been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of violence against a railroad carrier and a mass transportation system resulting in death. The charges stem from the August 22, 2025, fatal stabbing of 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska aboard a Lynx Blue Line train in Charlotte, North Carolina. Federal prosecutors confirmed that Brown, who has a history of violent offenses, could face the death penalty if convicted.
According to investigators, Brown attacked Zarutska from behind with a pocketknife after observing her for several minutes. Surveillance video shows him standing behind her before suddenly stabbing her multiple times. Zarutska was later pronounced dead at the scene.
“We are hopeful for swift justice,” Lauren Newton, a lawyer representing the Zarutska family, stated in the wake of the indictment, adding that the family was pleased about the federal grand jury’s decision.
Authorities later revealed that Brown shouted, “I got that white girl,” during or after the assault, prompting the U.S. Department of Justice to review the case as a possible federal hate crime. Brown’s criminal record includes a 2015 conviction for armed robbery and several subsequent arrests. He had been released shortly before the murder following a misdemeanor charge, a fact that has drawn sharp criticism of the justice system’s handling of repeat offenders. “I strongly feel like he should not have been on the streets at all,” said Tracey, Brown’s sister, noting his longstanding issues with mental illness.
The killing has reignited national debate over public safety, mental health, and criminal justice reform. North Carolina Governor Josh Stein responded by signing “Iryna’s Law” earlier this month, a sweeping package that reinstates the death penalty in the state after a two-decade moratorium, ends cashless bail for violent and repeat offenders, and accelerates capital punishment cases. Stein supported most of the bill but objected to a controversial clause permitting execution by firing squad.
President Donald J. Trump also addressed the case during a September 9 speech, using it to criticize Democratic leaders for lenient crime policies. “In Charlotte, North Carolina, we saw the results of these policies when a 23-year-old woman who came here from Ukraine met her bloody end on a public train,” Trump said.
