Joe Biden repeatedly watched while his German shepherd, Commander, attacked Secret Service agents, according to newly released agency records.
The details: The Secret Service records were obtained through Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) litigation by Judicial Watch. They detail several incidents, with first-hand quotes from agents who were bit and/or observed the dog biting other agents in Biden’s presence.
One notable attack took place on September 12, 2023, as Biden was walking Commander in the Kennedy Garden of the White House. An agent reported:
- “Commander ran through [Biden’s] legs and bit my left arm through the front of my jacket. I pulled my arm away and yelled no… Commander jumped again and bit my left arm for the second time. [Biden] again yelled at Commander and attached the leash to him.”
Zoom out: The reports show Biden was also present during attacks on October 2, 2022, and December 11, 2022. In the December attack, the agent was left with a 1.5cm gash and bruising on their arm, as well as cuts on his hand and thumb.
Agents warn each other: After a separate attack later that month, on September 25, one agent wrote to another: “FYI- there was a dog bite and the Officer may need to go to the hospital … Have a safe shift!”
Asking for action: An official in the agency’s Safety, Health, & Environmental Division asked: “Can we please find a way to get this dog muzzled.”
Commander was finally removed from the White House in February.
Big picture: We shouldn’t be surprised that Joe is a bad dog parent. After all, he is the same man who raised Hunter Biden.
