‘Confusion’ Led to Deadly Drone Attack Which Killed U.S. Servicemen.

The U.S. military failed to down a drone that killed three American servicemen and wounded dozens more because it was confused with a returning U.S. drone.

Questions were raised as to why the drone strike, claimed by the Iran-backed Islamic Resistance in Iraq, was not stopped by air defenses before it struck Tower 22, a U.S. outpost in Jordan. Officials now say a U.S. drone was returning to base at the same time the jihadist drone was inbound, allowing it to glide in unmolested.

The attack on Tower 22 marks the first time American personnel have been killed in the Middle East since October 2023, when they began to be targeted over Washington’s support for the Israelis in their ongoing retaliatory offensive against Hamas in Gaza.

Hostilities intensified over recent weeks after Yemen-based Houthi terrorists began targeting civilian shipping in the Red Sea to put pressure on Israel and its backers, prompting American and British air attacks.

Iran has denied any involvement in the attack on Tower 22. The White House has said it will respond, but it is currently unclear whether or not they will acquiesce to demands from GOP war hawks such as Senator Lindsey Graham to strike Iran directly.
