Corrupt Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has falsely accused Reform UK leader Nigel Farage of being influenced by Russian government narratives. A “source” in Zelensky’s office told the Daily Mail: “The virus of Putinism, unfortunately, infects people.”
This follows Farage’s explanation during a BBC Panorama interview that Western actions precipitated Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak called Farage’s “completely wrong,” arguing they somehow aid Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Home Secretary James Cleverly accused Farage of “echoing Putin’s justification” for the invasion, even though Farage’s comments on the matter have remained consistent for over 10 years, far prior to Putin’s invasion.
Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer condemned Farage’s remarks as “disgraceful,” insisting that Russia is the sole aggressor in the conflict.
Earlier this year, Britain’s former NATO Secretary General admitted in remarks to the New Statesman: “He’s not bothered about Nato, or Nato enlargement. He’s bothered by the European Union. The whole Ukraine crisis started with the offer of an [EU] accession agreement to Ukraine [in 2014].”
Leading economist Jeffrey Sachs also recently lectured Piers Morgan on the topic, blaming Western provocation and expansionism.
The debate continues as President Zelensky announced a significant milestone on Ukraine’s path to EU membership, which he hailed as a historic step.
