Lab Grown Meat Industry Demands Public Subsidy Because No One’s Buying It.

The laboratory-grown “meat” industry faces significant challenges securing the funding necessary to sustain itself. Industry experts claim they need substantial government assistance to survive; with various sectors within agrifood tech seeing a steep decline in investments since early 2022, and private capital for lab meat almost vanishing.

According to preliminary data from AgFunder, funding in the lab meat sector peaked at $989 million in 2021, decreased to $807 million in 2022, and then sharply dropped by 78 percent to just $177 million in 2023.

The decline in funding has prompted many startups to reduce staff, consolidate operations, or, in some cases, cease operations altogether.

Robert Jones, Vice President of Global Public Affairs at Mosa Meat, warns that “[t]here’s a valley of death we’re not going to cross as an industry without a massive infusion of public investment”—referencing the €60 million ($66 million) allocated by the Dutch government in 2022 as a model.

With the economic case for lab meat deteriorating rapidly, the environmental case for it is also unraveling. Recent studies suggest that—far from being a green alternative to traditional, farm-reared meat—so-called “cultivated meat” produces up to 25 times more CO2.

Lab meat also comes with a range of potential health issues, being a product of “immortalized cell lines” that replicate in perpetuity, like cancer.

GOP Closes Gap With Dems in Tight NJ Governor’s Race.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: A new poll shows a tight race between Jack Ciattarelli (R) and Mikie Sherrill (D) for New Jersey governor.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Jack Ciattarelli, Republican candidate, and Mikie Sherrill, Democratic candidate.

📍WHEN & WHERE: The poll was released in New Jersey, October 2025.

💬KEY QUOTE: “Voters across the board want a change (76%).” – Quantus Insights Poll

🎯IMPACT: The race is now considered a dead heat, with significant gains by Ciattarelli among Independent voters.

IN FULL

Republican candidate Jack Ciattarelli is now running neck and neck with Democrat Rep. Mikie Sherrill in the New Jersey gubernatorial race, according to a new poll. The Quantus Insights Poll shows Sherrill narrowly leading Ciattarelli 48.1 percent to 45.8 percent among likely voters, a margin within the poll’s error range.

This marks a significant shift from earlier surveys, including a Labor Day poll where Sherrill held a 10-point lead. Ciattarelli’s recent surge is attributed to his strong performance among Independent voters, where he leads 51 percent to 38 percent.

For much of the campaign, Sherrill maintained a comfortable lead over Ciattarelli. However, recent polling has indicated a tightening race, now considered a dead heat. She has been hurt in part by a scandal related to cheating at the U.S. Naval Academy, which saw her barred from walking with her classmates at her graduation.

Sherrill’s advantage has decreased to a 4.7 percentage point lead in the latest RealClearPolitics polling aggregate. Notably, this aggregate underestimated Ciattarelli’s support by about five points in the 2021 election.

Joe Biden officially won New Jersey by 16 points in 2020, but by only six points in 2024—one of the biggest improvements for President Donald J. Trump nationwide.

Senate Democrats Have Forced a Government Shutdown.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: Much of the federal government shut down after Congress failed to reach a temporary funding deal before the midnight deadline.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Members of Congress and federal government agencies.

📍WHEN & WHERE: The shutdown began on Wednesday at midnight, affecting federal operations nationwide.

💬KEY QUOTE: “The Far Left faction of Senate Democrats shut down the government because we wouldn’t give them hundreds of billions of dollars for healthcare benefits for illegal aliens. It’s craziness—and people are going to suffer because of it.” — Vice President J.D. Vance

🎯IMPACT: Government services and programs have been halted, affecting millions of Americans.

IN FULL

Much of the federal government shut down on Wednesday after Congress failed to reach a deal to keep government programs and services running before the midnight deadline. The inability to pass a funding bill has led to a significant disruption in government operations, with federal agencies forced to suspend services and furlough employees.

Senate Democrats blocked an eleventh-hour short-term funding bill that would have averted the shutdown late Tuesday, insisting the legislation include an extension of Obamacare tax credits, which are set to expire at the end of the year. Millions of Americans rely on these credits to lower healthcare costs. Republicans, however, argue that extending the credits would lead to increased taxpayer-funded healthcare for illegal immigrants.

“The Far Left faction of Senate Democrats shut down the government because we wouldn’t give them hundreds of billions of dollars for health care benefits for illegal aliens,” Vice President J.D. Vance said Wednesday morning, adding: “It’s craziness—and people are going to suffer because of it.”

Vance also warned that air traffic controllers are “no longer getting paid” due to the Democrats’ intransigence.

Notably, the Republican-backed funding bill only fell five votes short of passage in the Senate, with Sens. John Fetterman (D-PA) and Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV) voting for the measure. The funding bill was also backed by Sen. Angus King (I-ME).

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) voted against the legislation with the bulk of the Senate Democrats.

Ambassador Found Dead After Hotel Balcony Fall.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: The South African ambassador to France, Nkosinathi Emmanuel Mthethwa, was found dead after falling from a hotel balcony in Paris.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Nkosinathi Emmanuel Mthethwa, a former Cabinet minister and South Africa’s ambassador to France.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Tuesday morning at the Hyatt Regency hotel in Porte Maillot, Paris.

💬KEY QUOTE: “The circumstances of his untimely death are under investigation by the French authorities.” – South African government statement

🎯IMPACT: The incident has prompted an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the ambassador’s death, amid his recent implication in judicial inquiries back in South Africa.

IN FULL

Nkosinathi Emmanuel Mthethwa, South Africa’s ambassador to France and a former Cabinet minister, has been found dead after reportedly falling from the 22nd floor of the Hyatt Regency hotel in the Porte Maillot area of Paris. French prosecutors have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

The 58-year-old had checked into the hotel, where investigators say a secure window appears to have been forced open. His body was discovered early Tuesday morning after a police search was initiated in response to concerns raised by his wife. French authorities also confirmed that his last known phone signal was traced to the Bois de Boulogne, a large park west of Paris, where search dogs were deployed during the initial investigation.

“The circumstances of his untimely death are under investigation by the French authorities,” the South African government said in a statement.

Mthethwa, a long-serving member of South Africa’s ruling African National Congress (ANC), formerly led by Nelson Mandela, had recently been implicated in a judicial inquiry probing alleged corruption and reported links between senior South African officials and organized crime.

He served as South Africa’s Minister of Police from 2009 to 2014, attracting widespread criticism following the 2012 killing of 34 striking miners by police in Marikana. Afterward, he was reassigned to head the Ministry of Arts and Culture, a position he held until 2023. That same year, he was appointed ambassador to France and UNESCO.

The South African embassy in Paris is located just a few miles from the hotel where his body was found. A French investigative judge has been dispatched to the scene, and authorities say inquiries are ongoing.

Mthethwa’s death comes amid tense diplomatic relations between South Africa and the United States. The Trump administration has openly criticized the South African government over “extrajudicial killings” of white farmers. In May 2025, Trump directly confronted South African President Cyril Ramaphosa with video evidence of slain farmers’ memorials, accusing his government of turning a blind eye to anti-white violence.

Trump has also granted asylum to dozens of white South Africans, citing fears of persecution, and cut off certain aid programs to South Africa.

This State Is Adopting the Trump-Backed School Choice Program.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen (R) signed an executive order opting the state into a federal school choice tax credit program, allowing taxpayer dollars to fund private school tuition.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Governor Jim Pillen, Representatives Mike Flood (R-NE) and Adrian Smith (R-NE), and the Nebraska State Education Association.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Announced Monday at a Catholic school in Lincoln, Nebraska.

💬KEY QUOTE: “I am not opting this in, I am cannonballing it into the state of Nebraska.” – Gov. Pillen

🎯IMPACT: The measure allows families earning up to 300 percent of the area median income to receive scholarships.

IN FULL

Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen (R) has signed an executive order to opt the state into a federal school choice tax credit program, a provision included in President Donald J. Trump’s tax and budget bill passed in July. The program allows individual taxpayers to direct up to $1,700 in federal income taxes owed to scholarship-granting organizations for K-12 private school expenses.

Announcing the decision at a Catholic school in Lincoln, Pillen declared, “I am not opting this in, I am cannonballing it into the state of Nebraska.” He was joined by Representatives Mike Flood (R-NE) and Adrian Smith (R-NE), who supported the federal budget bill and the private school scholarship initiative.

The move comes after years of contentious debate over school choice in Nebraska. A similar state-level proposal in 2023 allowed taxpayers to divert state income taxes to fund private school scholarships. That measure was repealed by voters, but a new law was passed to fund scholarships directly from state coffers. The federal program now bypasses state-level restrictions, enabling even high-income families to benefit.

Critics, such as Nebraska State Education Association President Tim Royers, argue the program undermines the will of voters. “Families making more than $200,000 a year are eligible to receive a voucher funded through these tax credits,” Royers said, adding that the decision disregards the recent voter rejection of state-level vouchers.

Pillen, however, countered that the federal program does not deplete public school funding. “We have to have great public schools, and we have to have great St. Teresa’s,” he stated. “And because of this legislation, both can win.”

Trump to Deport 120 Iranians Following Agreement with Tehran.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: Iran has confirmed that 120 of its nationals are being deported from the United States under President Donald J. Trump’s immigration enforcement policies.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Iranian foreign ministry official Hossein Noushabadi, President Trump, and U.S. officials.

📍WHEN & WHERE: The deportees are expected to arrive in Iran within one or two days via Qatar, according to Iranian state media.

💬KEY QUOTE: Noushabadi called on the U.S. government to “respect the rights of Iranian migrants and their citizenship rights under international law.”

🎯IMPACT: This marks the first phase of a deal to deport 400 Iranian nationals, a rare instance of cooperation between the U.S. and Iran.

IN FULL

Iran announced that 120 of its citizens are being deported from the United States, with their return expected within the next one or two days. Iranian foreign ministry official Hossein Noushabadi confirmed the development, stating that most of those being deported had entered the U.S. illegally, primarily through Mexico. A smaller number reportedly held valid U.S. residency permits.

The deportation is part of a broader agreement between the United States and Iran to repatriate Iranian nationals. The first phase of this deal involves the deportation of 400 individuals, with this group being the initial wave. The deportees are being flown to Iran through Qatar, according to Iranian state media. Noushabadi called on the U.S. government to “respect the rights of Iranian migrants and their citizenship rights under international law.”

President Donald J. Trump has continued to ramp up immigration enforcement actions, aiming to directly deport over 300,000 illegal immigrants by year’s end—with many others choosing to self-deport. Notably, the highest number of deportations over a single year—in recent history—was previously achieved by former President Barack Obama, totaling just over 300,000.

This rare instance of cooperation between the U.S. and Iran comes despite the absence of formal diplomatic ties. The deportation process is being facilitated through Iran’s U.S. Interests Section at the Pakistani embassy in Tehran.

IN FULL

Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Dallas, collaborating with federal, state, and local law enforcement, executed a criminal search warrant on September 26 at Chicas Bonitas Cabaret in Dallas, Texas, targeting suspected human trafficking and unlawful employment. During the operation, 41 illegal aliens were taken into custody by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Dallas office for administrative immigration violations. Additionally, $30,000 in U.S. currency and various business records were seized as part of the ongoing criminal investigation.

“HSI Dallas is committed to eradicating the vile scourge of sex trafficking from our local communities,” said HSI Dallas Special Agent in Charge Travis Pickard. Ilhan Omar Trashes ‘White Supremacist’ Charlie Kirk: ‘No Legacy to Honor.’

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) doubled down on controversial comments attacking assassinated Turning Point USA (TPUSA) founder Charlie Kirk.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Ilhan Omar, Charlie Kirk, and President Donald J. Trump.

💬KEY QUOTE: “There is no legacy to honor. It was a legacy filled with bigotry, hatred, and white supremacy.” – Ilhan Omar

🎯IMPACT: Omar’s comments have sparked backlash, with President Trump suggesting to Somalia’s leader that Omar be “taken back” to her native country.

IN FULL

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) is doubling down on remarks she made about the assassination of Turning Point USA (TPUSA) founder Charlie Kirk in Utah on September 10. The Somali immigrant insists she has “nothing to apologize for,” telling ex-CNN host Don Lemon: “There is no legacy to honor. It was a legacy filled with bigotry, hatred, and white supremacy.”

Omar accused Kirk’s allies, including President Donald J. Trump, of trying to revise history. “As a black woman and as a Muslim in this country, I refuse to join the chorus that changes the history of what is on the record from this man,” she said. When asked about the perception that Kirk, who was murdered while debating Utah Valley University students, promoted civil discourse, Omar dismissed the idea as “full of s**t.”

President Trump has stated that he recently spoke to Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud about Omar, saying, “I suggested that maybe he’d like to take her back. And he said, ‘I don’t want her.'”

In a September 11 interview with former MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan, recorded shortly after Kirk’s murder, Omar and Hasan were seen laughing as they criticized Kirk’s political views. Omar called claims about Kirk supporting civil debate “bulls**t” and harshly critiqued his past remarks, including his stance on gun rights following mass shootings and his response to the death of George Floyd.

Omar and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) were among 58 Democrats who voted against a House resolution commemorating Kirk and condemning political violence. Ocasio-Cortez said, “We should be clear about who Charlie Kirk was,” and described him as “ignorant” and “uneducated,” arguing that his rhetoric sought to “disenfranchise millions of Americans.”

WATCH: NYC’s Zohran Mamdani Confirms He Wants Legal Prostitution.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: Democratic New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani endorsed decriminalizing prostitution in a televised interview.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Zohran Mamdani, prostitutes, pimps, and New York City residents.

📍WHEN & WHERE: September 2025, during a Good Day New York interview.

💬KEY QUOTE: “Yes,” Mamdani confirmed his support for decriminalizing prostitution.

🎯IMPACT: Mamdani’s stance highlights his extreme soft-on-crime stance, which also includes previously expressing support for abolishing prisons and defunding the police.

IN FULL

Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic candidate for New York City mayor, reiterated his support for decriminalizing prostitution in America’s most populous city. The Twelver Muslim, a member of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), was confronted on the DSA’s support for legal prostitution and his own co-sponsorship of a legal prostitution bill in the New York State Assembly in a Good Day New York interview, with the hostess telling him, “A lot of people are concerned, especially if you go to Queens, Roosevelt Avenue, the people who live and work around there, who have to walk their kids past there, are very concerned. Young kids are being prostituted there. People are concerned where you stand on that; where do you divorce yourself from the Democratic Socialists of America?”

Mamdani said his platform is separate from the Democratic Socialists’ platform, but, when pressed, admitted that “Yes,” he does support decriminalizing prostitution. “What we have to bring to City Hall is a focus on ending sex trafficking; on ensuring that there is no tolerance for violence against women, and also having safety at the cornerstone of all the policies that we pursue.”

He claimed the “World Health Organizations” [sic] and a United Nations working group both found that decriminalizing prostitution provides the most “safety” for prostitutes.

Mamdani subscribes to a range of far-left, soft-on-crime policies, including the abolition of prisons, or “decarceration,” and defunding the police—although he has begun downplaying his past, vociferous support for these causes as he attempts to win the support of regular voters.

He also plans to spend an additional $100 million on legal aid for migrants to fight deportation.

Federal Judge Rules Against Trump on Deporting Extremist Foreign Students.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: A federal judge ruled against the Trump administration’s policy of deporting extremist foreign students, citing the First Amendment.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: U.S. District Court Judge William Young, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, and foreign student activists.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts.

💬KEY QUOTE: “The Constitution, our civil laws, regulations, mores, customs, practices, courtesies, all of it; the President simply ignores it all when he takes it into his head to act.” – Judge William Young

🎯IMPACT: The ruling disrupts the Trump administration’s efforts to deport foreign students who express anti-Semitic or pro-terrorist views.

IN FULL

A federal judge in Massachusetts ruled Tuesday that the Trump administration violated the First Amendment by targeting foreign students for their anti-Israel activism. U.S. District Court Judge William Young, a Ronald Reagan appointee, found that the administration’s actions amounted to unconstitutional suppression of free speech. “Foreign students are entitled to the same free speech protections as U.S. citizens,” Young insisted in his decision.

The case, brought by organizations including the American Association of University Professors and the Middle East Studies Association, challenged what plaintiffs called an “ideological deportation” policy. That policy allegedly relied on information from Canary Mission, a website that tracks people it accuses of holding anti-Israel or anti-Semitic views. Judge Young criticized the administration for using such data, alleging it sought to “chill the rights to freedom of speech and peacefully to assemble.”

Young specifically named Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem as having coordinated deportation efforts. The judge also took aim at President Donald J. Trump, railing, “The President’s palpable misunderstanding that the government simply cannot seek retribution for speech he disdains poses a great threat to Americans’ freedom of speech.”

The decision comes amid a wider crackdown by the Trump administration on rising anti-Semitism on college campuses. In early 2025, Trump signed an executive order expanding federal oversight of anti-Semitic incidents in higher education and directed agencies to scrutinize the behavior of foreign students and staff. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) also began reviewing the social media of student visa applicants for content deemed supportive of terrorism or anti-Semitism.

The administration further paused student visa interviews and suspended $500 million in federal funds to Brown University over allegations of campus anti-Semitism. Multiple universities, including Ivy League schools, are under federal investigation for possible violations of civil rights laws related to anti-Semitic harassment.

TSA Confirms Biden Placed Mask Mandate Opponents, J6 Protesters on No-Fly List.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: The former Biden regime placed some Americans who resisted the COVID-19 mask mandate or were allegedly involved in the January 6, 2021, protests in Washington, D.C., on prolonged Transportation Security Administration (TSA) watchlists, including no-fly lists typically reserved for suspected terrorists.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: The TSA, Biden regime officials, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, and people allegedly connected to mask mandate resistance or Capitol protests.

📍WHEN & WHERE: The initiative, “Operation Freedom to Breathe,” began in September 2021 and involved nationwide TSA watchlists, including no-fly lists.

💬KEY QUOTE: “Biden’s TSA Administrator [David] Pekoske and his cronies abused their authority and weaponized the federal government against the very people they were charged with protecting.” – Kristi Noem

🎯IMPACT: Sources at TSA say this is the most expansive use of no-fly lists targeting U.S. citizens in history, raising alarms about government overreach and political targeting.

IN FULL

Internal documents reveal that the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) placed Americans who resisted COVID-19 mask mandates or were allegedly involved in the January 6, 2021, Capitol protests on federal watchlists, including the no-fly list typically reserved for suspected terrorists.

The former Biden regime launched the ironically named “Operation Freedom to Breathe” in September 2021, targeting 19 people for defying federal mask requirements. More than half were placed on the no-fly list and barred from commercial air travel, despite not being charged with any crime.

Some remained on the list until the national mask mandate ended in April 2022. Internal concerns were raised by TSA intelligence officials and the agency’s Chief Privacy Officer, who warned that the actions appeared unrelated to transportation security and instead punished political expression. Emails revealed that TSA relied on academic databases and social media profiles, rather than intelligence from agencies like the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), to make listing decisions. Inaccurate information led to mistakes, including the wrongful inclusion of a National Guardsman and an air marshal’s wife.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem strongly criticized the Biden regime’s actions. “Biden’s TSA Administrator [David] Pekoske and his cronies abused their authority and weaponized the federal government against the very people they were charged with protecting,” she said. “President Trump promised to end the weaponization of government against the American people, and we are making good on that promise.”

Noem added that the case would be referred to the Department of Justice and Congress for investigation.

Around 280 people with alleged ties to the Capitol protests were also placed on TSA watchlists, with at least five added to the no-fly list. TSA sources reportedly described the operation as the most expansive use of federal travel restrictions against U.S. citizens in the agency’s history.

Separately, Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard has claimed she was placed on the TSA’s “Quiet Skies” watchlist, a surveillance program originally meant to track individuals deemed to pose elevated aviation risks. Gabbard believes the listing was political retaliation after she criticized former Vice President Kamala Harris.

In 2021, some Democrats also pushed legislation to restrict unvaccinated individuals from flying. Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-NY) introduced a bill requiring all domestic flight passengers to be fully vaccinated.
