Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft, recently claimed that a new “natural” pandemic could occur within the next four years.
In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Gates estimated a 10-15 percent chance of a “natural” pandemic arising during this period.
Gates has long been associated with a number of sketchy pseudo-scientific experiments which have led to further disease and outbreak, as well as acting as a core proponent of the long-debunked “natural origins” theory of the 2020 Covid pandemic.
He says he worries about the global lack of preparedness for such an event, stating that progress has not been made in addressing potential future outbreaks. He critiqued the current state of readiness, remarking, “We’re absolutely not [ready],” and emphasized that despite significant financial expenditures and loss of life, a consensus on combating future pandemics has not yet been reached.
Amid these discussions, the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has backed the theory that COVID-19 likely originated from a laboratory. Under the directive of new CIA Director John Ratcliffe, an assessment suggesting a lab origin was released, though the agency continues to view both research-related and natural origin scenarios as possible. Ratcliffe, who has long supported the lab leak theory, emphasized that the CIA should take an active role in the discussion surrounding the pandemic’s origins, particularly in regards to implications on U.S.-China relations.
China’s U.S. embassy, through spokesperson Liu Pengyu, responded to these developments by claiming to oppose the “politicization” of the virus’s origin, in a risible attempt to deflect from China’s culpability for the COVID era.
