President Donald J. Trump has issued a statement following Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky kicking off a heated row with Vice President J.D. Vance during an Oval Office press event. The Ukrainian leader, ostensibly in Washington, D.C., to sign a rare earth minerals deal with the United States, lashed out after Vance spoke to a journalist about the need for diplomacy with Russia, prompting President Trump to intervene and chastise Zelensky for being disrespectful and ungrateful for U.S. aid. During the argument, it became apparent that Zelenksy was not serious about negotiating a ceasefire.
“We had a very meaningful meeting in the White House today. Much was learned that could never be understood without conversation under such fire and pressure,” President Trump said in his statement, posted to Truth Social. “It’s amazing what comes out through emotion, and I have determined that President Zelenskyy is not ready for Peace if America is involved, because he feels our involvement gives him a big advantage in negotiations. I don’t want advantage, I want PEACE. He disrespected the United States of America in its cherished Oval Office.”

“He can come back when he is ready for Peace,” Trump added.
Attaining a ceasefire and a long-term peace deal has been a top priority of President Trump, who campaigned on ending the Russian invasion of Ukraine during the 2024 presidential election. However, Zelensky has been obstinate in making progress towards any agreement with Russian President Vladimir Putin, thus far rejecting any possibility of Ukraine making concessions for an end to the conflict.

🎯IMPACT: The development of this AI tool could highlight relations between reported vaccine injuries and cases of autism and other health issues.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is developing a generative artificial intelligence (AI) tool intended to analyze vaccine safety data, identify patterns, and generate hypotheses about potential adverse effects, according to the department’s AI inventory report for 2025. The project has been in development since late 2023 and reflects a broader push within HHS to modernize public health surveillance.
The initiative has drawn attention in part because it is moving forward under HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who has long argued that vaccine safety monitoring should be expanded and made more transparent. Kennedy has pushed for changes to the childhood vaccination schedule, removing several vaccines, including those for COVID-19, influenza, and hepatitis A and B, from the recommended list, and has called for reforms to both the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) and the federal Vaccine Injury Compensation Program. Supporters say these moves reflect an effort to restore public trust by more closely scrutinizing vaccine risks alongside benefits. VAERS, established in 1990, allows healthcare providers and members of the public to submit reports of health problems that occur after vaccination.
The debate around the AI tool intersects with Kennedy’s broader campaigns questioning aspects of establishment vaccine science, including his repeated calls for renewed investigation into autism and vaccines. Kennedy has argued that the issue has not been fully or transparently examined and has cited animal studies and other research as justification for continued scrutiny.

🎯IMPACT: The DOJ will now likely weigh whether to issue subpoenas to sitting members of Congress who refuse to sit for voluntary interviews regarding the video.

Senator Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) announced on Thursday that she will not comply with a Department of Justice (DOJ) investigation into a video she and five other Democrat lawmakers released last year in which they urged members of the U.S. military to ignore what the group characterized as “illegal orders.” The video prompted swift backlash from the Trump administration, with the President himself calling the Democrat message “seditious.” Secretary of War Pete Hegseth admonished Democrats for releasing the video, stating it was a “politically-motivated influence operation” that undermined trust in the military’s chain of command.
“Today, I sent a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi and U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro informing them that I will not be sitting down with them for their inquiry over a 90-second video I filmed in November,” Slotkin wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, with an accompanying video elaborating further on her decision. The Michigan Democrat stated, “They are purposely using physical and legal intimidation to get me to shut up. But more importantly, they’re using that intimidation to deter others from speaking out against their administration.”
Attorneys for Sen. Slotkin delivered two letters on Thursday, one informing U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro that Slotkin will not sit for a voluntary interview and instructed Pirro’s office to preserve documents for what they described as “anticipated litigation.” A second letter, delivered to Attorney General Pam Bondi, also stated that the Michigan Senator will not cooperate with the DOJ investigation and instead demanded that Bondi terminate the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) inquiry into the video.
The National Pulse reported last month that Slotkin’s colleague, Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ)—who also appeared in the video—filed a lawsuit against the Department of War (DOW) and War Secretary Hegseth over action to demote him and cut his retirement pay as a consequence of the video. Notably, the DOJ’s requests have so far been voluntary, but prosecutors may escalate by issuing subpoenas.

💬KEY QUOTE: “It will not pass the Senate. You will not get a single Democratic vote in the Senate. We’re not reviving Jim Crow all over the country.” – Chuck Schumer
🎯IMPACT: The SAVE Act faces strong opposition from Senate Democrats, despite overwhelming voter support for voter ID.
IN FULL
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said February 5 he was surprised to learn that a huge majority of Democratic voters support nationwide voter ID requirements, but insisted that he will oppose Republican efforts to enact such laws regardless. During an interview, Schumer was presented with data showing that around 71 percent of Democrat voters back voter ID rules.
The Senate Minority Leader argued that the measures are designed to limit access to the ballot rather than protect elections. “It’s Jim Crow 2.0,” he claimed, adding: “What they’re trying to do here is the same thing that was done in the South for decades: to prevent people of color from voting,” he said. “If you can’t find a proper ID, you will be discriminated against. This is vicious and nasty.”
The comments came as Republicans push the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act, or SAVE Act, which would require proof of U.S. citizenship to vote in federal elections. Under the bill, acceptable documentation would include REAL-ID-compliant identification, a passport, or a birth certificate. The legislation would also bar states from registering voters without proper identification. Schumer vowed that Democrats will block the bill in the Senate, saying, “It will not pass the Senate. You will not get a single Democratic vote in the Senate. We’re not reviving Jim Crow all over the country.”
Despite opposition from Democratic leaders, voter ID laws continue to draw broad public support. Polling has consistently shown that Americans want photo identification requirements, along with other election measures such as paper ballots, early voting options, and making Election Day a national holiday. Support for voter ID crosses party lines among the general public, with massive majorities of Republicans, independents, and even Democrats backing the policy.
President Donald J. Trump has long promoted voter ID as a way to secure elections and made it a central issue in his 2024 campaign. Republicans in Congress and state legislatures are also pressing for proof-of-citizenship and voter ID laws, arguing they are necessary to protect election integrity and public confidence in elections.

President Donald J. Trump issued a high-profile endorsement Thursday for Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, calling Sunday’s snap Japanese legislative election “very important” and praising Takaichi as someone who has “already proven to be a strong, powerful, and wise Leader.”
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump wrote that “The Great Country of Japan is having a very important Legislative Election on Sunday, February 8, 2026. The results of this Election are very important to the future of Japan.” He specifically highlighted Takaichi’s leadership and commitment to her country, saying she “truly loves her Country” and was impressive during his recent visit.
Trump also emphasized the close cooperation between the United States and Japan, noting that “the United States and Japan have worked closely together on making a very substantial Trade Deal, one that strongly benefits both Countries.”
Reiterating his support, the President wrote that “Prime Minister Takaichi is someone who deserves powerful recognition for the job she and her Coalition are doing and, therefore, as President of the United States of America, it is my Honor to give a Complete and Total Endorsement of her, and what her highly respected Coalition is representing.” He added a rallying message to Japanese voters: “SHE WILL NOT LET THE PEOPLE OF JAPAN DOWN! Good luck on your very important Sunday Vote.”
The endorsement comes as Japan prepares for a snap general election on February 8, 2026, to elect all 465 members of the lower house of its national legislature, the House of Representatives. The vote will shape the country’s political direction and could confirm the governing coalition’s mandate.
Takaichi, who became Prime Minister after winning the leadership of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party and forming a coalition last year, is widely expected to secure victory in the election. Her campaign emphasizes economic stability, national security, and strengthening Japan’s role on the international stage. She has also expressed a decidedly anti-mass migration stance, vowing to crack down on criminal migrants in the country,
Trump’s endorsement underscores Washington’s strategic interest in continuity in Tokyo’s leadership. Trump also noted he looks forward to hosting Prime Minister Takaichi at the White House on March 19.

💬KEY QUOTE: “I learned that maybe we can use a little bit of a softer touch, but you still have to be tough.” – Donald J. Trump
🎯IMPACT: The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has announced a partial drawdown of federal agents in Minnesota, citing increased cooperation with local authorities.
IN FULL
President Donald J. Trump has said that recent clashes between federal agents and far-left agitators in Minnesota have prompted him to consider a “softer” approach to immigration enforcement. During an interview, Trump was asked what he learned from the federal immigration operation in Minneapolis–St. Paul area following the fatal January shootings of Alex Pretti and Renee Nicole Good during confrontations involving federal agents and anti-ICE agitators.
“I learned that maybe we can use a little bit of a softer touch, but you still have to be tough,” Trump said. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) deployed approximately 3,000 federal agents to Minnesota in what it described as the largest immigration enforcement operation in U.S. history. Trump said he had personally reached out to state and local leaders during the operation. “I’ve called the Governor. I’ve called the Mayor [of Minneapolis], spoke to them, had great conversations with them,” he said. “And then I see them ranting and raving out there, literally, as though a call wasn’t made. We’ve done a great job everywhere.”
According to the administration, those conversations led to increased cooperation from Minnesota officials. Trump has said that Gov. Tim Walz (D) agreed to work with White House Border Czar Tom Homan to facilitate the transfer of illegal immigrants with criminal records from local jails into federal custody, reducing the need for large-scale street arrests.
Homan announced that this “unprecedented cooperation” would allow DHS to scale back its presence in the state. “Given this increase in unprecedented collaboration and as a result of the need for less law enforcement officers to do this work in a safer environment, I have announced, effective immediately, we will draw down 700 people,” Homan said.

The U.S. Department of Education revealed on Thursday that it has launched two investigations into a program at Tufts University that may be illegally collecting and sharing student information to influence elections. The department’s Student Privacy Policy Office (SPPO) is examining whether the National Study of Learning, Voting, and Engagement (NSLVE) complies with federal privacy laws.
The NSLVE program is able to access student data from thousands of campuses through various partnerships. Federal officials say they are concerned that this data may be shared with third-party political organizations aiming to influence American elections. An investigation has also been launched into the National Student Clearinghouse (NSC), which collaborates with NSLVE and has access to data from numerous colleges.
Both investigations center on potential violations of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), which grants students and their legal guardians the right to control the disclosure of personal data. Notably, the partnership between NSLVE and NSC was pushed by the former Obama government as part of an effort to boost student voter participation in elections.
“American colleges and universities should be focused on teaching, learning, and research—not influencing elections,” Secretary of Education Linda McMahon stated. She accused the former Biden government of encouraging institutions to share student data recklessly, adding that the department is revoking all Biden-era guidance that promoted such practices.
NSLVE provides reports to over 1,000 campuses to analyze student voting and registration rates, while NSC collects personal information, enrollment details, and academic records from nearly all U.S. colleges. Consequently, the Department of Education has issued guidance reminding institutions of their privacy obligations under FERPA, warning that using NSLVE data could place them in violation of federal law.

🎯IMPACT: The collaboration aims to enhance Nigeria’s counter-terrorism capabilities, particularly in combating Islamist groups like Boko Haram and ISWAP.
IN FULL
U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) has announced that a small team of American military personnel has been sent to Nigeria to aid the African nation in counter-terrorism operations. The deployment was disclosed by AFRICOM Commander General Dagvin R.M. Anderson earlier this week at a State Department briefing regarding ongoing efforts to end Islamist attacks against Christian communities in Nigeria.
The decision to deploy U.S. military officers follows a meeting between Gen. Anderson and Nigerian President Bola Tinubu last October at the Aqaba Process summit in Rome, Italy. The summit, founded by Jordan’s King Abdullah II and held usually three to four times a year, aims to address counter-terrorism practices and ongoing threats in regions of need, especially West and East Africa.
“At that meeting, I was able to meet President Tinubu. We were able to share some thoughts and agree that we needed to work together on a way forward in the region,” Gen. Anderson said, adding, “That has led to increased collaboration between our nations, to include a small U.S. team that brings some unique capabilities from the United States in order to augment what Nigeria has been doing for several years.”
While Gen. Anderson did not reveal how large the U.S. deployment is, he did note that the team will be able to support Nigerian counter-terrorism operations with “unique capabilities,” including Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) systems. The U.S. Department of War’s (DOW) ISR packages include “manned and unmanned airborne, space-borne, maritime, and terrestrial systems.” Nigerian Defense Minister Christopher Musa has confirmed the presence of the U.S. personnel.
The National Pulse reported last October that U.S. President Donald J. Trump designated Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC) due to a genocide of Christians by radical Islamic terrorists. This move followed a report from the International Society for Civil Liberties and the Rule of Law (Intersociety) which revealed that a staggering 100 churches are attacked every month in Nigeria, with a minimum of 7,087 Nigerian Christians murdered in the first 220 days of 2025—an average of 32 per day.

🎯IMPACT: The takedown exposed a vast trafficking network, rescued victims from multiple states, and highlighted Los Angeles County’s role as a trafficking hub.
IN FULL
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), in conjunction with a number of other law enforcement agencies operating on a single tip, have busted a major human trafficking operation, resulting in more than 600 arrests and the rescue of around 20 children across California. In Los Angeles County alone, the law enforcement action—dubbed “Operation Reclaim and Rebuild”—saw the recovery of 12 adults and five children.
According to Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna, the investigation originated with a citizen tip regarding a home in the Los Angeles suburb of Walnut. A subsequent surveillance operation connected the home to several other nearby residences being used in a human trafficking ring.
“We have traffickers that are putting barely teenage girls on the streets of Los Angeles to be victimized, repeatedly, over and over again,” LAPD Deputy Chief Alan Hamilton said following the bust, adding, “These children did not come from one place. They came from Chicago, from Oklahoma, from Missouri, tribal lands… and from communities right here in the state of California.”
The operation resulted in a total of 611 arrests, including both suspected human traffickers and clients—often called “Johns.” Authorities, however, have not yet disclosed how many of those arrested will face felony human trafficking charges as opposed to lesser solicitation offenses.
“How embarrassing that I could actually say that we have corridors of human sex trafficking throughout Los Angeles County,” Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman said, describing the criminal operation as having engaged in “modern slavery,” and lamenting Los Angeles’s continued prevalence as a hotspot for human traffickers.

The Trump administration will roll out a Super Bowl commercial during the big on Sunday educating the American public about the new Trump Accounts program, which will give enrolled U.S. babies—born between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2028—$1,000 at birth to invest through a specialized 530A hybrid retirement account. A provision of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, signed into law by President Donald J. Trump earlier this year, the Trump Accounts program is set to launch on July 4, 2026.
“Look for the commercial after the national anthem at the Super Bowl this weekend,” Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told lawmakers while testifying before the House Financial Services Committee earlier this week. The National Pulse reported in late January that Bessent, during a White House summit discussing the initiative, explained, “Trump Accounts are not a government program. They are a radically new platform that returns us to a social contract anchored in individual ownership where everyone starts life on an investing journey.”
According to the White House, a Trump Account opened with only the $1,000 federal seed money in 2026 will reach $5,800 by age 18 and $18,100 by age 28. However, families who contribute the maximum $5,000 annually will see the accounts reach an estimated $303,800 by age 18 and $1,091,900 by age 28—assuming contributions continue through age 18 and the account is converted to an IRA. Each account is established in the child’s name—though a parent or guardian will act as a custodian until the child reaches 18.
Already a number of major U.S. corporations have pledged to contribute seed money to Trump Accounts for the children of their employees. Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase, and Steak n Shake have each pledged a $1,000 match for accounts belonging to the children of their employees born between 2025 and 2028.
A record 127 million people worldwide tuned in to watch the Super Bowl last year, according Nielsen, with similar numbers expected again for this year’s match-up of the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks.

🎯IMPACT: The crash has raised further concerns about immigration policies, and unqualified migrants operating trucks on America’s roads, in particular, which the Trump administration has been trying to tackle.
IN FULL
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has confirmed that a semi-truck driver, identified as Bekzhan Beishekeev, was arrested after causing a head-on crash in Indiana that resulted in the deaths of four people. Beishekeev is a Kyrgyzstani national who entered the United States thanks to the Biden government’s CBP One app on December 19, 2023, at the Nogales, Arizona, port of entry. Biden’s governmentparoled Beishekeev into the U.S.
The crash occurred on SR 67 in Jay County, Indiana. According to police, Beishekeev did not stop for a slowed semi-truck and instead swerved into oncoming traffic, colliding head-on with a van. The victims included several people from the Amish community, per local media.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) records indicate that Beishekeev is now in ICE custody. This suggests that local law enforcement honored a detainer and has already transferred him to federal authorities.
The CBP One app, introduced under Biden, permitted 50,000 to 60,000 otherwise inadmissible aliens to enter the U.S. legally every month under two-year humanitarian parole grants. President Donald J. Trump terminated the program on his first day in office and repurposed CBP One as a self-deportation app.
Unqualified illegal immigrant truck drivers, often awarded licenses by Democrat-led states like California, are a significant issue on America’s roads, causing multiple fatalities in multiple high-profile crashes. The Trump administration has been moving to address the issue, disqualifying thousands of foreign drivers and shutting down thousands of driving schools.
