Tucker Carlson is accusing Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) of blocking an unnamed individual’s appointment to a key intelligence position in an effort to sabotage the full release of the federal government’s JFK assassination files. According to Carlson, Sen. Cotton moved to prevent the appointment as the individual would likely advocate for releasing long-classified JFK documents. The former Fox News host leveled the allegations against Sen. Cotton during an interview with Chris Cuomo on Monday evening.
While speaking with Cuomo, Carlson revealed that in January—as President Donald J. Trump was establishing his administration—a member of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence (SSCI) intervened in the appointment process for a key intelligence position. “In January, there was a scramble over who’s gonna get what jobs in the new administration,” Carlson said, continuing: “At one point, there was someone who was being discussed for a job in the intel world, and a member of the SSCI… went to the people making the decision and said, ‘You cannot hire this person because this person will be certain to push for the release of the JFK files.'”
“You have to ask yourself, ‘What is that?'” Carlson posed to Cuomo, adding: “If you’re telling me that six weeks ago, a member of the United States Senate was trying to keep someone out of a job in order to keep these files secret, that is to protect the CIA, I don’t believe that for a second.”
When pressured by Cuomo to reveal the senator’s identity, Carlson named Cotton. Following the revelation, Cuomo questioned Carlson on his efforts to verify the information directly with President Trump or Sen. Cotton. Carlson responded, stating he didn’t think Cotton would agree to an interview.
Sen. Cotton responded to the allegations on Tuesday, writing in a post on X (formerly Twitter): “This is false. I have no problem releasing the ‘JFK files.'”
