The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) will use electric vehicles (EVs) as yet another means of espionage and data harvesting, with UK government officials stressing the rush to “net zero” carbon emissions and EV dominance will lock in China’s gains. The cars are embedded with technology that can track locations, produce audio recordings, video footage, and even remotely interfere with the vehicle.
In May, The National Pulse detailed how every EV purchase aids the Chinese Communist Party, with U.S. President Joe Biden currently demanding that two thirds of all new vehicles sold in the United States by 2032 are electric.
Now, Members of the UK Parliament appear to be heeding that warning, highlighting the risk of the government providing the CCP with control of “critical infrastructure” in the UK, already penetrated by the CCP.
“If it is manufactured in a country like China, how certain can you be that it won’t be a vehicle for collecting intel and data?” said a senior UK government official, adding: “If you have electric vehicles manufactured by countries who are already using technology to spy, why would they not do the same here?”
China dominates the EV market and is not afraid of flexing its muscles to remind the West of its position. It refines the vast majority of materials and resources necessary to build EV batteries, including lithium, manganese, cobalt, and graphite.
