This marks a significant shift from earlier surveys, including a Labor Day poll where Sherrill held a 10-point lead. Ciattarelli’s recent surge is attributed to his strong performance among Independent voters, where he leads 51 percent to 38 percent.

For much of the campaign, Sherrill maintained a comfortable lead over Ciattarelli. However, recent polling has indicated a tightening race, now considered a dead heat. She has been hurt in part by a scandal related to cheating at the U.S. Naval Academy, which saw her barred from walking with her classmates at her graduation.

Sherrill’s advantage has decreased to a 4.7 percentage point lead in the latest RealClearPolitics polling aggregate. Notably, this aggregate underestimated Ciattarelli’s support by about five points in the 2021 election.

Joe Biden officially won New Jersey by 16 points in 2020, but by only six points in 2024—one of the biggest improvements for President Donald J. Trump nationwide.

This abrupt influx of numerous KC-135 tankers occurs during a period of extreme instability in the region. Despite Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer’s left-wing Labour Party attempting to smear Farage as a “racist” and the “single greatest threat” to the country’s “way of life,” these attacks do not appear to be resonating with the youth the way they have with older generations. According to a survey from Merlin Strategies for the New Statesman, of the 13 to 17-year-olds who intend on voting in the next general election—which must be held no later than 2029—33 per cent said that they would vote for Farage’s Reform party, compared to 27 per cent for Labour, and 12 per cent for formerly governing Conservatives (Tories) and the far-left Greens.

Farage’s personal popularity also stands out, with 38 percent of British teens viewing him favorably, compared to 25 percent for Prime Minister Starmer, 23 percent for far-left former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, who is attempting to launch a third party focused on Muslim issues, and just 16 percent for Tory leader Kemi Badenoch.

Notably, Farage’s friend and ally, President Donald J. Trump, is the second-most popular politician among British teens, at 28 percent.

“It’s happening. Gen-Z is very different. Very different to Millennials. I see a lot more ambition, I see a lot more rejection of what they’re being indoctrinated with at school and university,” Farage said of the British youth last June.

Much of the federal government shut down on Wednesday after Congress failed to reach a deal to keep government programs and services running before the midnight deadline. Senate Democrats blocked an eleventh-hour short-term funding bill that would have averted the shutdown late Tuesday, insisting the legislation include an extension of Obamacare tax credits, which are set to expire at the end of the year. Republicans, however, argue that extending the credits would lead to increased taxpayer-funded healthcare for illegal immigrants.

“The Far Left faction of Senate Democrats shut down the government because we wouldn’t give them hundreds of billions of dollars for health care benefits for illegal aliens,” Vice President J.D. Vance said Wednesday morning, adding: “It’s craziness—and people are going to suffer because of it.”

Vance also warned that air traffic controllers are “no longer getting paid” due to the Democrats’ intransigence.


Notably, the Republican-backed funding bill only fell five votes short of passage in the Senate, with Sens. John Fetterman (D-PA) and Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV) voting for the measure. The funding bill was also backed by Sen. Angus King (I-ME).

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) voted against the legislation with the bulk of the Senate Democrats.

Nkosinathi Emmanuel Mthethwa, South Africa’s ambassador to France and a former Cabinet minister, has been found dead after reportedly falling from the 22nd floor of the Hyatt Regency hotel in the Porte Maillot area of Paris. French prosecutors have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

The 58-year-old had checked into the hotel, where investigators say a secure window appears to have been forced open. His body was discovered early Tuesday morning after a police search was initiated in response to concerns raised by his wife. French authorities also confirmed that his last known phone signal was traced to the Bois de Boulogne, a large park west of Paris, where search dogs were deployed during the initial investigation.

“The circumstances of his untimely death are under investigation by the French authorities,” the South African government said in a statement.

Mthethwa, a long-serving member of South Africa’s ruling African National Congress (ANC), formerly led by Nelson Mandela, had recently been implicated in a judicial inquiry probing alleged corruption and reported links between senior South African officials and organized crime.

He served as South Africa’s Minister of Police from 2009 to 2014, attracting widespread criticism following the 2012 killing of 34 striking miners by police in Marikana. Afterward, he was reassigned to head the Ministry of Arts and Culture, a position he held until 2023. That same year, he was appointed ambassador to France and UNESCO.

The South African embassy in Paris is located just a few miles from the hotel where his body was found. A French investigative judge has been dispatched to the scene, and authorities say inquiries are ongoing.

Mthethwa’s death comes amid tense diplomatic relations between South Africa and the United States. The Trump administration has openly criticized the South African government over “extrajudicial killings” of white farmers. In May 2025, Trump directly confronted South African President Cyril Ramaphosa with video evidence of slain farmers’ memorials, accusing his government of turning a blind eye to anti-white violence.

Trump has also granted asylum to dozens of white South Africans, citing fears of persecution, and cut off certain aid programs to South Africa.

He added: “Working in conjunction with our federal and local partners and leveraging HSI’s unique investigative authorities, we were able to disrupt the suspected trafficking operation at this cabaret and are working to identify potential victims.”

Among those detained, at least five migrants were identified as having prior criminal convictions after illegally entering the U.S. One migrant, Juan Carlos Salas Medina, a 30-year-old from Mexico, had illegally entered the U.S. ten times and was convicted of aggravated assault, possession of a controlled substance, and DUI.

Other detainees included Julios Cesar Martinez, Victor Manuel Manzano-Ramirez, Gustavo Rojas-Garda, and Genaro Diaz-Perez, each with various criminal histories including DUI, assault, and prostitution.

Omar accused Kirk’s allies, including President Donald J. Trump, of trying to revise history. “As a black woman and as a Muslim in this country, I refuse to join the chorus that changes the history of what is on the record from this man,” she said. When asked about the perception that Kirk, who was murdered while debating Utah Valley University students, promoted civil discourse, Omar dismissed the idea as “full of s**t.”

President Trump has stated that he recently spoke to Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud about Omar, saying, “I suggested that maybe he’d like to take her back. And he said, ‘I don’t want her.'”

In a September 11 interview with former MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan, recorded shortly after Kirk’s murder, Omar and Hasan were seen laughing as they criticized Kirk’s political views. Omar called claims about Kirk supporting civil debate “bulls**t” and harshly critiqued his past remarks, including his stance on gun rights following mass shootings and his response to the death of George Floyd.

Omar and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) were among 58 Democrats who voted against a House resolution commemorating Kirk and condemning political violence. Ocasio-Cortez said, “We should be clear about who Charlie Kirk was,” and described him as “ignorant” and “uneducated,” arguing that his rhetoric sought to “disenfranchise millions of Americans.”

Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic candidate for New York City mayor, reiterated his support for decriminalizing prostitution in America’s most populous city. The Twelver Muslim, a member of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), was confronted on the DSA’s support for legal prostitution and his own co-sponsorship of a legal prostitution bill in the New York State Assembly in a Good Day New York interview, with the hostess telling him, “A lot of people are concerned, especially if you go to Queens, Roosevelt Avenue, the people who live and work around there, who have to walk their kids past there, are very concerned. Young kids are being prostituted there. People are concerned where you stand on that; where do you divorce yourself from the Democratic Socialists of America?”

Mamdani said his platform is separate from the Democratic Socialists’ platform, but, when pressed, admitted that “Yes,” he does support decriminalizing prostitution. “What we have to bring to City Hall is a focus on ending sex trafficking; on ensuring that there is no tolerance for violence against women, and also having safety at the cornerstone of all the policies that we pursue.”

He claimed the “World Health Organizations” [sic] and a United Nations working group both found that decriminalizing prostitution provides the most “safety” for prostitutes.

Mamdani subscribes to a range of far-left, soft-on-crime policies, including the abolition of prisons, or “decarceration,” and defunding the police—although he has begun downplaying his past, vociferous support for these causes as he attempts to win the support of regular voters.

He also plans to spend an additional $100 million on legal aid for migrants to fight deportation.
