Transgender student “Sadie” Schreiner led a college team to victory in three races during Saturday’s Liberty League Championship Meet. Schreiner, who represents the Rochester Institute of Technology, claimed first place in both the 400-meter and 200-meter races, breaking school records in the women’s category.
As an anchor, Schreiner ran the fastest anchor leg, contributing to the team’s win in the 4×400 relay race. Born a man, Schreiner’s 100-meter sprint record ranks 20th among boys in high school but would have been the fastest for girls.
Schreiner contended that being genetically male does not offer a default advantage.
Six states are suing Joe Biden’s Department of Education over Title IX amendments intended to offer more protection to men competing as women. Students who opted out of competing with transgender athletes have been suspended.
