During a commencement address at historically black Morehouse College on Sunday, Joe Biden said it was natural for black people to question American democracy because they are being “killed in the streets.”
“It’s natural to wonder if Democracy you hear about actually works for you,” Biden said. “If Black men are being killed in the street. What is democracy?”
“The trail of broken promises that still leave Black communities behind,” Biden continued. “What is democracy? If you have to be 10 times better than anyone else to get a fair shot.”
In the same speech, Biden described Trump supporters as racist insurrectionists, referencing the January 6 Capitol riots, and insinuated election integrity laws are racist too.
“Today in Georgia, they won’t allow water to be available to you while you wait in line to vote in an election. What in the hell is that all about? And then the constant attacks on Black election workers who count your vote,” Biden said.
“Insurrectionists who stormed the Capitol with Confederate flags are called ‘patriots’ by some. Not in my house,” he continued. “Black police officers and Black veterans protecting the Capitol were called another word. I never thought when I was graduating in 1968, I’d be president at a time when there’s a national effort to ban books and erase history. Graduates, this is what we’re up against,” he claimed.
Biden’s incendiary comments appear to be an effort to shore up black voter support ahead of the 2024 election. Historically a reliable demographic for Democrats, Biden’s mishandling of the border crisis and poor economic management have led to hemorrhaging support among black voters.
Biden tells black graduates they are being hunted in the streets.
It's not just divisive. It's total BS.
